Chapter 71 - Chapter 71: CALL!

Uchiha Souji returned to the Uchiha clan district with slow, heavy steps. In his hand was the scroll Kakashi had given him—thick, long, and filled with the kind of complicated diagrams that made normal people dizzy. He closed the door behind him, sat down at his low wooden table, and carefully unrolled the scroll.

He lasted four seconds.

That was the exact amount of time it took for his face to twist so badly that even a Hyūga elder would ask if he needed medical assistance.

"This… what kind of torture is this…?"

The more he read, the worse the pain in his head grew. The explanations on the scroll were so complex that Souji felt like Kakashi wasn't teaching him ninjutsu… he was sending him to another dimension. Words like Nature Transformation, Shape Transformation, flow control, micro-chakra structuring, and diagrams that looked like a confused spider had danced on the page.

He slumped forward.

"I didn't just underestimate myself… I OVERestimated myself."

He had always assumed that his talent was "slightly lower than genius." But today, he realized something painful:

He wasn't just below genius.

He was below average.

"Kakashi-senpai… no wonder you agreed so easily. You knew I'd suffer like this!"

He sighed deeply and rubbed his forehead. If he trained like Naruto, constantly powered by an invisible protagonist buff, maybe he could complete this in two or three years. But Souji? No such blessing.

At this pace, it would take five years. Maybe more.

Every ninja is born with chakra, and almost everyone has a natural elemental affinity. Souji had two—Fire and Lightning. But having two did not make him special. Those affinities were weak. Underdeveloped. Needing work.

Nature Transformation was the training to strengthen that attribute.

Fire becomes hotter, more explosive.

Lightning becomes sharper, faster, more destructive.

Nature Transformation creates power. Shape Transformation creates purpose.

Souji understood the theory. But actually doing it was like trying to eat soup with a fork.

"No wonder Kakashi didn't even hesitate. He knew this scroll alone would destroy me."

He rolled the scroll up, set it aside, and stood up with a sigh.

Enough theory for today. It was time for his self-discipline training.

He grabbed Third Generation Onitoru, the demon blade, and walked into the courtyard. The sun hung low, dipping behind the clan buildings, casting long shadows across the training ground. Souji inhaled deeply. Training would clear his mind.

Or so he thought.

Because the moment he unsheathed the blade, the carved grimacing face on the steel caught his eyes. Souji had grown used to ignoring the blade spirit, but today—perhaps because of the frustration from the scroll—something inside him sparked.

A sudden epiphany hit him.

A mental thunderbolt. A burst of golden light. A world-shaking realization.

He froze in place.

"Wait…"

Why was he trying to train everything by himself?

Why was he trying to overcome every weakness alone?

Humans survived as a group. People grew by relying on others. Even Ashura defeated Indra because he had more supporters. Even legendary figures did not win alone.

"So why should I force myself to do everything alone?"

If his talent wasn't enough…

Then why not use another kind of talent?

The talent of using others. Tools. Allies. Power from outside.

He slowly looked down at the grimacing face carved into the blade.

Ugly. Horrifying. Unpleasant.

But for the first time… Souji found that face comforting. Like a familiar uncle. A creepy one, but still an uncle.

"Hey. Onitoru."

The demon sword spirit was internally writing its usual observation diary:

Day 24. My master is looking at me with disgust again. As expected, he still does not appreciate my artistic appearance…

Then—he froze.

Souji almost NEVER initiated casual conversation.

For a demon sword, this was the equivalent of being tapped on the shoulder by God.

Onitoru blinked spiritually.

"Ah… Master? You called me?"

Souji didn't answer immediately. He simply stared at the blade with a strange, thoughtful expression.

Onitoru's spiritual heart skipped a beat.

Why is he looking at me like that?

Then the blade spirit did the only reasonable thing it could do.

"Master Souji, please speak! I am ready to serve you!"

Souji physically shivered.

"First of all, DO NOT talk like that. Second of all, if you keep speaking like some weird butler, I'll throw you into the cesspit for ten days."

The demon sword choked on its own ghostly breath.

A cesspit!?

For a demon blade with pride and ego, being thrown into a cesspit was a fate worse than rusting away.

"I understand! I will not speak in such a way again!"

Souji nodded.

"Good."

Then he squatted down, resting his elbow on his knee.

"I have a question, Onitoru. Demon blades can control people's bodies, right?"

Onitoru froze.

If he had a physical spine, chills would have crawled down it.

"Well… yes. I can control people. But it takes time. The person must be weak-willed. They must accept my power completely, believe my strength is theirs, and eventually allow me to merge with their spirit."

Souji fell completely silent.

Then—

He grinned. Slowly. Sinisterly. Brilliantly.

Onitoru saw the smile.

Onitoru did NOT trust the smile.

He's planning something. He's definitely planning something.

Souji leaned closer.

"Onitoru… what's your math like?"

"Ma… math!?"

The demon sword spirit reeled back as if slapped.

"I'm a blade spirit! Why would I need math!?"

Souji tapped the blade.

"Because I need someone smart to help me train Chidori."

Silence.

Wind rustled the leaves.

An ANBU cat in the distance paused mid-jump.

Even the universe seemed confused.

Souji continued calmly:

"Kakashi's scroll is too difficult. Too complex. Too much information. I will need a second brain. Preferably a ghost brain. That's where you come in."

Onitoru blinked.

"Master Souji… are you telling me… to tutor you?"

"Yes. I want you to help me with chakra equations, lightning flow diagrams, and mental control techniques."

Onitoru opened his spectral mouth to respond, but Souji raised a hand.

"Wait. Before you refuse, remember: cesspit."

The blade spirit shut its mouth instantly.

"…Proceed, Master. I am ready to tutor."

Souji nodded proudly.

He had just created the world's first ninja tutoring sword.

---

The Plan Forms

Souji looked up at the sky.

"Kakashi wants me to master nature transformation. Fine. But I don't need to do it alone."

He tapped the blade.

"If you're good at calculations, then you can analyze chakra pathways for me."

Onitoru puffed his spiritual chest.

"Of course! My thinking ability is superb!"

"Great. Next, you can help me correct mistakes. And maybe shock me a little if I lose focus."

"…Shock you?"

"Yes. You're a lightning blade, right?"

The demon sword spirit didn't want to say yes. But he couldn't lie to his master.

"…Yes."

Souji clapped.

"Perfect! You can help me adjust my chakra output!"

Onitoru suddenly felt like he had signed up for the world's worst internship.

Then Souji continued:

"Also, help me train my reflexes. You can move on your own—just swing at me sometimes."

"Master… are you asking your weapon to attack you?"

"Yes."

"That feels… morally questionable."

Souji shrugged.

"Training is training."

The demon sword spirit sighed deeply.

What kind of master did I end up with…?

---

Memories of the Past

As they talked, Onitoru suddenly asked:

"By the way, Master… where did you find me? I do not recall being from this world."

Souji stopped walking.

He looked down at the blade.

"That… is a long story. And maybe one day I'll tell you. But for now, let's focus on something more important."

"And what is that?"

Souji grinned widely.

"We are going to cheat the entire chakra training system."

The demon sword spirit swallowed its fear.

This boy…

This boy was dangerous.

But also brilliant.

---

Training Begins

Souji stood in the courtyard again, scroll in hand, blade in the other.

"Let's begin the experiment."

Onitoru braced himself.

Souji opened the scroll again. The complex diagrams no longer made him dizzy. Because:

He didn't have to memorize everything.

He didn't have to calculate everything.

He didn't have to do everything alone.

He had a blade spirit with a big brain.

"Okay Onitoru—explain this chakra diagram."

Onitoru squinted spiritually.

"…This is… extremely flawed."

Souji nodded.

"Exactly. Now fix it."

And so it began.

The strangest training partnership in the entire ninja world.

A young Uchiha boy.

And a sarcastic demon sword who was now—against its will—a math tutor, lightning meter, reflex trainer, and part-time moral support tool.

Together… they would master the impossible.

And Chidori training… had officially begun.
