Chapter 16 - Tin Origins

Finn said, "So where is the person that gave you Tin?" Gridlock replied, "She lives isolated on an empty snowy planet." Finn replied, "Is there no one else there?" Gridlock said, "Long ago, there was war among the species of that planet which eventually annihilated all of them. Right now, she's the only one who lives here."

Finn replied, "Why does she choose to live there alone?" Gridlock said, "I'd tell you if I knew myself, kid."

While on the way to the snowy planet of "Nirmi", Finn was taking a quick nap. Gridlock, in his head, said, "I wonder how she's doing... She might be saddened to figure out I lost Tin." Finn woke up and then said, "Mr. James, Are we still not there?" Gridlock replied, "I'm sorry, kid. I couldn't fix up this ship well enough for it to be able to go into hyperspace back on that desert planet. She can probably help us out with that as well."

After 49 fliborian hours, The Drifters' spaceship was finally about to land on Nirmi. As the spaceship reached closer and closer to the snowy mountain, Gridlock's tense feeling grew more and more. The spaceship landed near the peak of a huge snowy mountain and then Gridlock and Finn came out.

Finn said, "Wow... This view is beautiful, Mr. James." Gridlock replied, "I know, kid. Actually, that's probably the same thing I said when I first came here."

The view was incredible. From it, you could see so many other smaller neighbouring snowy mountains and giant empty snow fields in the distance.

Finn said, "When was it that you first came here, Mr. James?" Gridlock stayed quiet and walked over to the peak of the mountain to gaze over the amazing view.

After a few seconds, Gridlock said, "This was the place I escaped to when I ran away from being Ermi's slave..." Finn replied, "Oh..."

"Take a good look at this view, kid. It was my first taste of freedom. When I arrived here, the junk I stole to get here had completely stopped working. I had no way to travel further and I didn't have any resources. On top of that shit, My beloved had just recently died. Yet when I looked at this view, My first view to witness as a free man, I was happy. It made me feel guilty even."

"And I suppose you eventually found that lady that gave you tin, Mr. James."

"No, kid. She found me."

Finn said, "So, where is her exact location?"

"Don't worry about that, kiddo. Just like she found me before, she'll find me again."

"How, Mr. James?"

"Wait... Look in the distance. There's someone approaching us already. That's definitely her."

Over in the distance, Finn could see a figure covered in the mist coming closer. He said, "Mr. James, how could she tell we were here?"

"She felt us."

"What does that mean?"

When she was close enough, Finn realized something.

"She's a Vector?!"

"Yeah..."

"Why would a vector abandon themselves here?"

"Wait... She's here."

Gridlock and Tomo just stared at each other for a long while. Finn was awkwardly standing between them. Finn, in his head, said, "What the hell is this?"

"Why have you returned?"

"I have a request for you, Tomo."

"I have done enough for you, boy."

"Please, Its for the greater good."

"You wish for the greater good? Don't make me laugh."

"I've changed, Tomo. I've changed."

After a deep thought, Tomo said,

"Very well, follow me."

Tomo started walking down the mountain and Gridlock began going after her. After slight hesitation, Finn did as well. He was a bit frightened by Tomo's elevated voice.

The Planet of Nirmi was quiet. In it, there lived no one but a Vector that had abandoned her home planet. Long ago, she had brought herself here with one of the ships from Optoh to isolate herself completely forever. After her arrival, she never touched that ship. She thought that if she did, her desire to go home might be triggered.

She was living a quiet peaceful life. It was a life she had always wanted. She was finally free from the chaos and troubles that came with being the president of the entirety of Optoh. She didn't feel guilty for leaving her home planet behind as she had left it in the care of her son, Shin.

One day, It was quiet and peaceful like always. Tomo had just woken up in her cave and she was just about to start a fire to give herself a bit of warmth but for the first time in so long, her peace was disrupted.

"What the hell was that?", She said.

A random trashy spaceship had crashed landed near the peak of a huge mountain. This crash happened a lot further than where Tomo was but she still felt it immediately.

She was mostly annoyed but also a bit curious. After a while, she had reached the point where that spaceship had crashed. While she was getting closer, she was actually starting to get concerned thinking it might be her people from Optoh who came here to take her back but she became sure it wasn't them when she looked at the ship.

The ship was in horrible condition and she just stared at it. She knew there was someone inside the burning spaceship but she didn't feel the need to help.

Eventually, a small boy rolled out of the crashed spacecraft and fell onto the ground. She was shocked that it was a child. She became confused about why a mere child would be in this situation.

"State your name, boy."

"Gridlock James."
