As Genevieve sank into the couch and turned on the TV, a blaring alarm from it went off, "Attention all citizens in Texas, please refrain from exiting your house," Genevieve raised an eyebrow as she listened, "there is an ongoing spore storm in the area, please lock all doors and windows. Thank you." Genevieve got up without a second thought and closed all her windows, but didn't lock the door since she already has it locked all the time. Who doesn't lock their door?
Sitting down again, she continued watching the EAS broadcast, "Inhaling the spores could cause infection. Symptoms are confusion, dizziness, nausea and shortness of breath. If inhaled, don't hesitate to call 911." She listens until it ends, and she turns off the TV, feeling a little uneasy. Spore storms have happened before, but this one felt different. 20 minutes later, she can feel her eyelids getting heavier and heavier as she scrolls mindlessly on her phone, she decides to put her device down and get a little rest, she needed it. 2 hours later, she wakes up again to the TV broadcast on again. "Is it over?" She thought. The broadcast said in an automated voice, "Attention all citizens of Texas, the spore storm is now over. You can now safely go outside, thank you for listening patiently." She sighs in relief as she slides into her shoes and walks down the hallway to her front door. Her hallway was dark and quiet, her Mom was sleeping in her own room as a result of working all day. Stepping outside, she took a deep breath of the air. It felt fresh and crisp, like she had been needing it all day. Walking around the area, she started feeling weak in the legs, and her breath was short and desperate. Genevieve tried to take another step, but her body simply refused. Her knees buckled and she fell to the ground, feeling frail. Her eyes closed as she slowly went unconscious.
