Chapter 4 - Novel's introduction [4]

Elios turned and immediately darted towards his house, his entire being was so overflooded with emotion that he felt nothing at all, he didn't know what to think.

A sense of numbness ached in his core, slowly spreading throughout his body.

'What was this..?'

While running, he turned to look behind him.

Nothing.

The new kid with the odd pupils was not following him.

'Thank goodness...'

No.

Was it really something to be thankful for?

After everything that just happened?

Bang!

He was running so franically, he didn't see the street pole infront of him as he turned a corner.

Thud

He fell backwards, blood dripping from his forehead as he laid on the uneven brick tiles on the ground.

'Ugh....'

Damn it.

This really hurts.

Slowly, he sat upright and stared at the pole that hit him. Or rather, the pole that he hit.

Then turned to observe his surroundings.

There wasn't much to note, really.

....everything was the same.

Except him.

Except his life.

Will he ever be able to go back? Will he ever be able to hear his mom's voice again? Eat her cooking? Hug her?

No.

He shook his head, still trying to wrap his thoughts around what had just happened.

Still, too dizzy to stand up properly.

Until,

He heard an emergency alarm go off.

*Beeeppp

All residents! Please evacuate Section 8, zone D! This is a 'Wave' alert.

I repeat...*

Elios jolted his head up, that was where he was right now! His housing area.

'A wave? Here? Now?'

He used the pole infront of his as support as he stood up and looked around.

'Where?!'

Then, a thought flooded his head.

...He cared for only one person in his world.

Mom.

Moving quickly, he continued running down the street, his vision zoning in and out as he did. His head had still hurt from being hit by the pole.

A few more minutes, and he would have reached her body in time.

Shhhhhhhreeekkk...

A massive circle started to form above him.

Black Clouds spun together to form the outer-ring of what looked like a gateway.

And then, a pool of what looked like black liquid dropped from the middle of the gateway.

But it wasn't in small amounts. Huge droplets splashed onto houses and nearby areas, engulfing everything as it did.

Then, 'those' things started to come out.

Twisted formations of monsters peered out the gateway, about to enter his world. Barely visible in the dark void inside the gateway, but once released, they were horrific disasters.

'Ahhhh . . .'

Upon seeing his house in the distance, Elios was starting to lose his vision, faltering as he approached the house directly above the portal. He had struggled to stay awake, but now, he was fighting a losing battle.

And he knew it.

Elios collapsed to the ground.

His vision steadily dimming, the last thing he heard was a voice coming from behind him, but he was too far gone to care.

...

[Ďəàĺ]

It was dark. Elios woke up in a place that had no above or below, nothing to hold on to, it was just a blank dark void.

....with a creature staring at him.

But, he couldn't see it clearly. It just looked like a cloud of dark mist, forming an appearance.

[Ďəàĺ]

".....ah.."

Elios clutched his hand near the area where his heart was located. He was having a panic attack.

The creature moved closer, and suddenly, words flooded in his head:

We made a deal.

I help you,

You help me.

Elios couldn't say a word, but he knew, somehow, the creature could read his thoughts here. Especially here.

'...yes, you did help me...so, what do you need my help with?'

He was hesistant. A moment ago, he just didn't want to die. Now, he didn't know if he wanted to live, either.

Especially since, he didn't have much to live for anymore.

...Actually, was he even still alive?

If he had passed out, wouldn't that mean his body was just helplessly being devoured by the 'wave' right at this moment?

Then, what was this creature talking about?

I'll show you.

....?!

Suddenly, it felt like his body was floating.

His surrounds opened to show a scene of his school.

He could see himself in 3rd person, running down the staircase and into the halls.

'Was this what the unknown creature saw from its perspective?'

But strangely, he didn't see the new kid.

Was this the past?

Then, from the view, in an instant, dark clouds swirled to form numerous gateways in the sky, and within a few minutes,

His world was devoured by the growing void.

Elios stared in shock.

'What....does this mean? What just happened?'

He waited for an answer, but the creature didn't speak.

Was it enjoying watching this all unfold?

Was it doing this to scare him?

End.

Huh?

Of world.

'Wait...why the end? What do you mean?!'

'All of a sudden? Just like that?!?'

inevitable.

Elios stared at the sight. His world was gone. Devoured by the void.

'...What do you mean, 'inevitable'?'

It was just darkness left. In the space where a world once stood, was nothing but emptiness.

Written.

'...what? What the heck are you talking about?'

An image of a glowing yellow smile appeared in his head.

You.

Don't .

Exist.

In a blink, Elios's eyes closed forcefully. He lost consiousness.

An unknown force was forbidding him to hear further.

[?!^#%&×]

[•■○"¡~◇°¡¿^#*....]

[. . . ]

...

'Floating....in water?'

But, no...

This felt...lighter?

It feels like air.

But it isn't?

Elios awoke in the same place he had fell. Face-flat on the floor, but it was morning now, and the 'wave' had passed.

Like a miracle, no houses seemed to be destroyed, no debris...he didn't even see a single body.

It looked exactly like how it was before.

'Exactly before....'

Elios got up and ran to his house.

Did time turn itself back?

But, upon getting closer to the house, the door was dented and on the ground, glass was still scattered, a fight scene had still happened.

Just the blood.

The blood was the only thing that was gone.

Elios slowly made his way to the kitchen, preparing to shut his eyes closed in the event his mother's lifeless body was decaying on the ground.

But....

'It's gone..'

His mothers body was gone.

'Where...did it..?'

[Tch.]

An echoing dark voice formed in his head.

'...hm?'

'Do you...know something?'

[Uninvited Guest.]

The voice sounded clearer this time.

'Guest....someone was here?'

Elios waited for an answer,

But the creature refused to eleborate.

Ugh. Do all unknown creatures speak in half-sentences and riddles?

Elios turned to face an old rusty silver clock on the wall, it was shattered in its centre, but it was still working.

<9:45am>

Elios watched the shortest hand turn slowly, in a daze. Until he snapped back realised it was past 8am.

'School!'

He walked out the door.

Pause.

'Wait.'

Why do i care about school right now?

Shouldn't i be crying or mourning?

Mom, just...

And, that drunkward....

Elios moved his hand above his heart, clutching his shirt.

'I....don't feel anything...?'

Atleast, he didn't feel saddness.

Immediately, he pinched his right arm.

Ow!!!

He let go.

'Ah....so, i can still feel.'

Yes.

Then, isn't it alright?

Elios felt like he was missing something important, but he couldn't place a finger on it.

'Ah...whatever.'

'I will just finish school for today and then come back to find mom.'

Yes..!

That sounds reasonable, right?

He started with a walk, but quickly decided that running was probably better, since he was already late.

'Shoot...at this rate, it's going to take me around 20 minutes to get there!'

He usually took the bus to school, but today, he overslept.

An echoing voice decided to make itself known.

[Help]

'Huh? With what?!'

He couldn't get used to how this creature spoke at the weirdest times.

[School.]

Suddenly, an arch made of black mist appeared infront of him, with the view of his school's hall showcasing on the inside.

'Wait...!'

Elios couldn't stop running in time to process the situation and ended up running through the arch.

Stopping in his tracks, Elios looked around.

He was now in the school hall.

He turned to face the portal, but it was no longer there, or maybe it was a one-way type of thing.

'Is....this a new type of deal that i have to repay?'

The voice took a moment to respond.

[Included]

'Included? So then...this is the benefit that comes from our previous deal?'

[Yes.]

Wow...

Elios took a moment to take it all in.

It felt like a story from one of his comic books had just come to life.

Like a superpower...!

When he was younger, his mother used to read them to him as he fell asleep–

'Ugh..!' He felt his heart ache.

"..."

Was he thinking about something?

Ah....he couldn't recall.

But, he felt fine again.

*Ringg!

The school bell rang, and the halls started to be filled with students on their way to their next class.

'Oh, it should be 10am now...'

Without thinking, Elios joined the crowd and made his way to his next class, picking up his books from his locker as he went.

<12:30pm>

'Huh...?'

It was already lunch time, and yet, Elios couldn't spot the new kid at all.

'Did he not come to school today?'

He remembered how the new kid saw him near the forest yesterday,

When....his dad...got devored–

'Damn it!

'I really need to speak to him!'

'Where is he?!'

Elios scoured the cafeteria to locate him, but it really didn't look like the new kid came to school today.

'Ugh...'

I guess i'll have to find and confront him another day.

What was he even doing near the forest at that time, anyway?!

"Elios"

One of the students that were sitting down with a group of friends came up to him.

"Hey, hey! Whats up, man?"

The student raised their hand for a highfive.

Huh?

"Oh...Hey!"

Elios reprociated.

"Say, wanna come and join us? Been awhile, yeah?"

Elios thought for a bit, before responding,

"...Yeah! Ofcourse! Thanks, man."

The student looked slightly suprised but immediately smiled with excitement as he walked with Elios to the table.

"Heh...you usually say no and starve in class."

One of the guys at the table uttered in similar suprise.

"Hey! Stop that." The girl sitting beside him nudged him with her elbow.

The others looks unbothered, it seemed it was a regular occurrence among the group.

"Say, Elios....i just wanted to confirm..but do you know your pretty popular?" The girl that was bickering just moments ago, was now speaking in a quiet-like tone while gazing at him.

"Uh..."

Popular? Me?

"Hey, enough with that"

"No– but its true!" The girl continued,

"Sooo many students in the upper floors say so too. They all think your friendly but mysterious vibe is pretty attractive."

"Hey!" The guy sitting beside her put down his cup.

"Why are you saying all that to him? It makes it sound like your interested!"

"Pfttt, so what if i am? I am definitely not the only one." The girl tilted her head slightly to urge Elios to look at the table behind them.

The table had around 18-20 people, mainly his seniors, that were looking at his direction and whispering.

"...um– i, i'm flattered..."

Elios blushed slightly.

This was helping him a little. He didn't feel any pain in his chest, and he was not putting too much focus on what happened yesterday.

Now...it was just idle chatter. A little random, but it was comforting.

'Oh'

A question popped in his head.

"Say..." he spoke in a slightly softer tone.

"What...happened to the 'wave' yesterday?"

Upon hearing this, everyone at the table stopped what they were doing and turned to look at him.

Then, the girl spoke. "What...wave? No wave happened yesterday." She sounded confused.

"Yeah...she's right." The guy who invited him to the table confirmed.

They all looked at him puzzled.

"Oh...."

What? No wave?

Then...what did i see?

"Hahha! you must have the weirdest dreams, man" a person sitting beside him started to laugh.

"Oh...yeah, haha..

...my bad, guys."

Elios avoided their gazes.

"I just had a really bad dream..." he scratched the back of his neck.

"Oh...!"

"Hahhah!"

The mood started to lighten up again and everyone continued to chat among themeselves.

"....."

*Ringgg!

<3:30pm>

School was now over.

Elios held back a sigh.

'Still no sign of the new kid...'

As usual, he waited for the others to grab their bags and leave the classroom first.

He was in no rush, there was nothing waiting for him back at home anyway....

Throb.

'Ugh..! Chest pain..'

Elios kept his head down, and his thoughts quiet.

Once everyone had left, he stood up and started to walk the empty halls.

...it was his usual after-school routine.

Step.

Step.

Step.

[Help.]

'....oh, i almost forgot you were here.'

The creature made itself known again.

'...are you always watching or something?'

The creature didn't respond. Instead, at the glass windows that covered one side of the entire hall, yellow eyes started to form.

And then, another misty smoke-like arch appeared around it, like what Elios had seen on his way to school.

A portal, or gateway...of some sort.

[Deal.]

...it probably wanted to speak freely to Elios about the 'deal' he had made with it.

...what would it ask of him?

Something he can do? Something impossible?

Usually, this would have made Elios scared.

Hah, this would have made anyone scared!

'But.....'

Elios stared at the yellow eyes through the portal.

'It doesn't seem all that bad.'

Step.

Elios took a step foward, into the portal,

....and didn't look back.

...

< Around 2 months later>

[Day of the Final Wave]

The front door of the classroom was pulled open, and a student walked through.

"Goodmorning, Mr. Calistus"

"Goodmorning, Sir." Elios bowed his head and turned to look at the class.

'....Is he not here today either?'

He scanned every seat as he made his way to the back of the classroom.

'...at this rate, i may never get a chance to ask–'

Pause.

'Oh.'

Next to Elios's desk, with his head lying down, was the new student from 2 months ago.

The very same one that had seen Elios that night, and the very student Elios has been patiently waiting for.

'...he finally came.'

'For a second, i really thought something had happened to him that night....'

Without waking the new kid, and trying to be as quiet as possible, Elios sat at his desk, while secretly managing glances at him.

'....when is he going to wake up? It's already the 2nd period...'

"Mr. Adelious" the teacher at the front of the class looked up and spoke in a loud voice.

He was silently staring at the kid who was sleeping next to him.

"Mr. Adelious." His voice was increasingly becoming louder.

'Uh.....'

...!

Is that him?

Is that the new kid's name?

'Should i wake him up?'

The teacher started to tap his feat with impatience.

Uh–

Tap.

Tap tap!

Elios tapped a finger on the new kid.

"Hey...! Teacher is calling you!"

Tap. tap.

Shrekkk!

Elios flinched as the new kid pushed back his chair and stood up, while giving him a death stare.

....?!

'What the....what's with that look?'

"Hey! You, stop it! Can't you see that its rude to touch someone when their sleeping?!" The new kid shouted in a displeased tone.

"Uh....." Elios was bewildered.

What was going on?

'This wasn't.....this wasn't how he acted 2 months ago!'

"Mr. Adelious" a deep voice called out from the front of the room.

The new kid immediately shifted their attention to the teacher at the front.

He and the teacher exchanged a few words, before the new kid sat back down with an unreadable experession on his face.

'....'

Hmm....

Tap.

Elios tapped his finger on the new kid's desk to get his attention.

"Told ya, sleepy head" He said teasingly.

When the new kid faced him, Elios was trying his hardest not to flinch.

His entire body language was off!

"Didn't have to be mean about it though. Sorry for touching you." Elios tried to seem as apologetic as possible, but really, he was just extremely confused.

Was this really the kid from 2 months ago?

The one that saw him near the forest that night?

"N-no....i'm sorry. I shouldn't have reacted that way." The new kid responded.

"You were only trying to help, i think..." his voice grew softer.

He seemed....different. really different.

There was just too many flaws now.

His confidence was no longer there, he was slouching constantly, all while avoiding eye contact.

However....there was something to note,

I could see his eyes clearly.

They were platinum-black. Not Gold, like that night.

...was i mistaken?

Did the colour of his eyes change because of the light coming from the street lamp?

"Pftt you think?" Elios faked laugh, while eyeing the new kid's every move.

"...Wow, you really are odd. No wonder everyone seems to be avoiding you."

A subtle test.

If the new kid was really the same, he wouldn't be bothered by the fact that everyone avoids him.

...since, he barely talked to anyone anyway.

But....

"Huh..?" The new kid's eyes widened upon hearing the information. Like it was new news to him.

What the....?

"What? Why do you look like you just woke up in a different dimension?

...Or do you always look like that?" Elios tested again. From everything he had seen, he guessed that the new kid wasn't actually normal to begin with.

So this.....is to show that i actually know who you are.

'Stop pretending...!'

".....a different dimension.." the new kid mumbled under his breath. Eyes looking foward in a daze.

....huh?

Wait....did something actually happen that night?

"Hey. You alright...?" Elios asked slowly.

Was he possessed or something?

"I'm fine." The new kid responded, almost instinctively without looking away from the board.

'....'

He seems to be adjusting to...something....

I'll...ask him after class then.

...

Ring! Ring!

Finally. Why did the last 20 minutes of class feel like forever...?

Elios turned to look at the new kid beside him while everyone got up to leave.

"Hey–"

?!?

The new kid had already gotten up and was leaving the class.

'Wait...!'

Elios stood up and rushed to stop him at the door.

"Hey!"

"Are you feeling better now? Elios asked, trying to read the expression on his face.

The new kid turned to face him, but just stared without moving or blinking.

'....he just keeps staring at me...'

Should i say something?

But before he could, the new kid spoke.

"Yes...i'm fine." The new kid responded in the most flat and unbothered tone he had ever heard in his life.

But...there was a sense of uneasiness building up in Elios.

'Something's not right.'

"Oh, thats great." Elios responded. Being careful with his facial experession, since there were still students nearby.

"If your alright now, do you wanna grab some lunch with me then?" Elios asked.

'Your not going to refuse, right? After all. We still have things to talk about.'

Like what happened that night,

If he saw the wave,

Why he disappeared for almost 2 months,

And why he was acting so...off.

But for some reason, the new students face twisted with confusion, as he uttered "Wait, wha–"

...?

"Guys!!" One of the girls that had been admiring Elios from afar suddenly shouted.

"It's Elios! He came to school today!!"

'Tch.'

Such a bother..

"We gotta go." Elios grabbed the new kid's arm and ran toward the staircase.

'Upstairs...!'

"Hey....!"

'Hm?'

Elios briefly looked back, the new kid was struggling to keep up.

"If i run anymore, my legs are gonna give out!"

Seriously....was this even the same person?

"Just hold on, we are almost there!" Elios tried to convince him.

Once they reached the roof, Elios slammed the door closed and held his thumb on the lock.

1, 2, 3...

'Done.'

The creature from my shadow should have taken care of it.

Over the course of the past few weeks, the creature had shown him the various ways he could use the creature to his benefit.

And....how the creature was planning to save him from the upcoming terrible disaster.

Along with the deal.

"Phew" Elios sighed as he turned to look at the new kid.

"that was close, huh? You alright –"

"Hahhh...." the new kid, with trembling legs, sat on the ground.

..?!

"You...!" The new kid screamed at Elios.

He flinched backward.

'What the...?'

This was the most expression i had ever seen from this guy...!

Suddenly, the new kid stood up and turned to face a part of the roof that wasn't properly gated.

He started to walk towards it.

"Wait! What are you doing?!" Elios asked in confusion.

'Whats wrong with him all of a sudden?!?'

Without looking back, the new kid responded. "Waking up."

'Huh??'

'Waking...up?'

Had this guy lost his mind?

Did he think this was a dream or something?

The new kid walked up to the ledge and sat down. Staring at the ground.

Before Elios could move, the creature spoke.

Angrily.

[Die.]

'....huh?'

What the....

'Whats wrong with you all of a sudden?'

[Get rid.]

[Trouble.]

'Trouble? Him?'

Elios looked at the new kid, who was now staring at the ground, many floors down.

'You...want me to get rid of him?'

[Yes.]

Elios couldn't move.

'Wait...why? He didn't do anything!'

'This isn't part of our deal!'

[. . . He is Unknown.]

'....? Unknown....'

The creature didn't know who he was?

But...

Wasn't he there that night?

Or, was the new kid not from this world to begin with?

'....it would make sense.'

Elios did suspect it.

But this was sudden. Even the creature seemed...agitated.

Almost like it was threatened by him.

"...."

Elios slowly walked to the new kid.

'If he falls....

Doesn't that mean...there was no witnesses to our deal?'

'Wouldn't the creature be happy that way?'

His pupils stared to dim.

'If i just....

Let him fall.....'

3

2

1

'No!'

Grab

"Wow, are you crazy?!" Elios shouted at the new kid who he saved from falling.

But it was difficult.

He could feel it....the creature was mad.

'Sh*t this creature really doesn't like him..!'

It was fighting him. Trying to take control of his body to make him let go of the new kid's hand.

No...!

I'm about to let go.

"...."

"...Hey..."

The new kid spoke up, while looking up at him.

"Could you...help pull me up..?" He mumbled to himself.

"Ah..!" Elios snapped back to reality.

"...Yes! Hold on tight." He pulled the new kid up without much trouble.

...it seems the deal with the creature has more benefits than he thought.

"Wow..your really strong..." The new kid spoke. Eyes sparkling as he looked at Elios with awe.

...!?

Elios scratched the back of his head, his face looking slightly flustered as he was confused on how to react.

'This guy.....is definitely not the same.'

"Thank you..." the new kid bowed his head.

"Ah, don't mention it."

....

"..."

"..."

The creature had gone quiet now.

Maybe...it was fine to just let this guy go.

He didn't seem to know anything, and...

....he didn't seem like a threat now.

"..."

"Do you...need someone to talk to?"

"Huh?"

"...you just...tried to commit..."

"Oh" the new kid looked back down.

"Oh, no. I am alright! I just had a slight scare. Thats all..." he mumbled under his breath.

'A....slight scare?'

Huh....

"...i see. Alright then, but if you ever need someone to talk to..." he pointed at himself. "You can come to me."

'A slight scare...huh?'

Enough to make you want to jump down from the schoop roof?

That was obviously a lie.

The new kid started to laugh at Elios's response.

...?

"Thank you. I will be sure to remember that."

The new kid gave a smile.

'...'

'...what was that?'

It was a slight moment, but Elios caught a glimpse of the personality he saw 2 months ago.

Somewhere among those fear-ridden eyes.

....it was still him.

'What if...?'

"So...." Elios started to talk.

Alright. If this is an act, i'll make you show your cards.

"We didn't get to introduce ourselves properly. Shall we?" Elios asked eagerly.

"Oh...! Thats right." The new kid beamed.

"My....name...is..."

...hah.

Elios really couldn't tell if he was acting or not.

The new kid stuttered, as he struggled to continue his speech.

...it really was a convincing act of a troubled student.

But why act?

"..You must still be a bit shaken from just now.." Elios held back a sigh.

"Dont worry, i heard it during class. It's Adelious, right?"

'Was this seriously all an act?'

Elios clutched his fists.

'For what?'

"Nice to meet you Adelious. My name is Elios Calistus." Elios offered a handshake.

Go on.

Show me your true colours.

The new kid, Adelious, stared at the hand.

Suddenly–

*Beeppp

...!

A wave. It's here.

The final one.

Elios turned to look back at the new kid, only to see...

That his eyes were showing disinterest or one that was in a daze.

...that was not the look of a scared teengae kid.

'Hah.'

Elios smirked. 'Got you.'

"...you good?" Elios asked, more confidently this time.

Suddenly, the new kid gripped his hand.

...!

He wasn't shaking now, unlike a few minutes ago....

'Hah....guess he is done with the act, huh?'

The new kid let go of the handshake first. Since, i was too caught up in staring at him.

Perhaps he noticed that i noticed?

"Hmm..the wind seems to be getting stronger, don't you think?" The new kid suddenly spoke.

'... Who...stays this calm? In the face of a wave?'

"...your right. It is."

I'll play along then.

What are you planning to do?

"...shall we go back?" Elios asked. Noticing that the new kid was eyeing the rooftop door.

'He wants to go?'

The new kid gave a quick nod.

...he looks a bit too excited.

'What was he trying to do...?'

'...'

[Get rid.]

'...honestly, for the first time, maybe this creature was actually right.'

'This guy...he doesn't seem normal.'

Just as the new kid was about to walk down from ledge, Elios blocked his path.

"...the thing is" He mumbled, before shooting Adelious a look of annoyance.

'You wanna continue the act?'

Then i will too.

"Why do you seem so nervous all of a sudden...?" His eyes narrowed slightly, mouth still in a grin. "Are you scared of the waves..?"

I can be a psycho too.

[Die.]

"S-sorry..?" The new kid stammered.

'Wow. He really does look nervous all of a sudden.'

Hah....

Did he realise he got caught?

"I don't know what you're–"

Push

Elios let the creature move his hands to forcefully shove the new kid back.

'.....'

[Good.]

"It's a shame."

The new kid looked suprised as his body fell backwards.

"I was starting to like you."

'I really was.'

But....

Elios couldn't help but twist his lips to a smile.

What is this feeling?

This feels.....exciting.

He tried his best to feel a bit bad after pushing someone off the roof,

Perhaps, this was what the creature was feeling, and Elios couldn't help but feel it too.

But...it was exhilarating. His heart pumped quickly, and not in a way that hurt him.

This felt....free.

'Ha....haha...'

Before Elios walked away, he decided to, on a whim, spare Adelious one last glance.

Elios looked down at the kid falling,

But he didn't seem that bothered.

Instead, the new kid, upon realising Elios was still looking at him,

Lifted his gaze to meet Elios's, and gave a wide, undisturbed,

grin.

....!

Elios felt a shiver go though his spine and immediately diverted his gaze.

'Crazy guy...'

Before he could hear a body fall to the ground, he quickly ran to the rootop doorway, and went down the stairs.

'I don't want to see it....'

The body.

Shiver.

That smirk....

Was his plan to die or something?!

'Crazy...'

Elios swallowed a nervou build-up in his throat.

He walked down the hallway and went near the glass windows.

"...."

The corridor was empty now. Everyone had ran to take shelter inside their class, or in other safe zones in the school.

Not that it would matter.

Because this time, this wave was a worldly disaster.

Something that would end everyone.

Elios turned to look at his reflection through the glass, in a few seconds, his reflection started to smile and his eyes turned a bright yellow.

[Come.]

Elios gave one last look at the empty corridor.

....he probably wouldn't be able to ever come back.

[Come.]

'.... So impatient.'

He walked through the glass facing his unnatural reflection, and...disappeared.

The wave ended his world shortly after.
