Chapter 13 - More annoyances

Sombra was currently walking around the roads of the Crystal Empire, while two books and a bottle of ink were floating around him in telekinesis. One book was simply opened to the pages at the beginning, while the other was an empty book that he wrote in with a quill and ink.

'Telekinesis is really convenient.'

Edward became the equivalent of an earth pony. Earth ponies possess a deep, innate connection to nature and the land, granting them enhanced physical strength, superior stamina, and durability. Their primary magical abilities include nurturing plant growth, boosting agricultural yields, and controlling the environment.

Other than his skin becoming crystal-like, there were no more apparent physical changes. But this was great; after all, in the show My Little Pony, the Apple family was able to work an entire orchard of apples with only two adult ponies.

Which means, theoretically, Edward should be able to get the food production started. But considering that Edward doesn't know anything about farms, Sombra decided to give up on that part and simply ask him to mine some magical crystals.

Which means Sombra should choose a spot to start reconstructing the crystal mines so Edward can work.

His wife, Lily, has became a pegasus: crystal skin with silver-colored wings, which was good since Jack is now responsible to help teach her to fly.

Now, the last person was Thomas, and he is the reason Sombra was currently translating a book about magic from the library.

Thomas became a unicorn. He didn't grow taller like the rest; the only difference was his skin becoming crystal-like as a small horn grew from his forehead.

So, Sombra visited the library and took a book about basic magical spells. A small search yielded a quill, a blank book, and some ink from the library, so currently, he was translating the book's contents to English, and he even added notes from Sombra's memories.

The original books in the library are one of a kind, and Sombra was in no way willing to risk any of them. So, he decided this was the better way, and besides, he was multitasking.

Translating a children's magic book with telekinesis was actually very easy. Which makes sense in a way, since if the original Sombra could not do this much, then he might as well give up his tyrant dreams.

Sombra was expecting Superman and a few of the League to arrive in a few minutes, maybe an hour at most. Sombra already gave the Crystal Heart an order to teleport to him if anything came close to it.

The quill broke off against the book as Sombra stopped and turned his head to the sky, as a deep frown formed on his face.

His detection spells didn't just activate; they were fried with pure magic.

Something was coming. Something with enough pure magic to give the likes of the sisters, Celestia and Luna—ponies that were capable of moving celestial bodies—pause.

But who was the original Sombra? He was a mad king that fought the two sisters, and although he didn't win, it was hardly a victory for the two sisters as well.

So, annoyed? Yes, Sombra was very annoyed. Afraid? Hardly.

Sombra's red eyes started glowing with green smoke as his gaze focused on the castle, as a pillar of lightning pierced through the sky towards the top of the castle—more accurately, the Crystal Heart.

The strike destroyed the top level of the castle, tearing the crystal apart. But as the figure landed and looked around, trying to find the artifact that he had been feeling for a while now, he found nothing.

Sombra was standing a fair distance from the castle. As he saw the top level of his castle get flattened, his eyes darkened, but amusement lingered.

Anger at the audacity of whoever this was to attack his new home, and the fact that they attacked the Heart's position, was obviously no accident. And amusement at the fact that they thought they could steal the Heart this easily.

If someone was to look at Sombra's right hand, they would see the Crystal Heart, which had just teleported itself, floating gently upon his kingly, armored gauntlet, glowing and beating in slow heartbeats.

'I need to drag whoever this is away from the castle; otherwise, the agents may just end up dead. And besides, I don't intend to ruin my castle.'

Sombra's magic flared as he teleported outside of the empire, a few miles away from the crystal walls.

'Thankfully, dragging whoever this is here should not be difficult.'

Sombra simply raised the Crystal Heart. The Heart glowed with terrifying intensity as it followed its king's will, releasing a single, powerful heartbeat of pure magical energy.

The heartbeat cracked the ice, making its way across hundreds of meters in seconds, as the Heart declared his position to the intruder.

A few seconds later, a figure literally descended from the sky covered in lightning, as its gaze was locked onto the Heart and then moved to Sombra.

Sombra, on the other hand, finally got a good look at the intruder who had a lightning bolt on his chest.

'Black Adam. This might be annoying.'

Black Adam rose to his full height, eyes crackling with lightning, as he said, "So that's the thing I have been sensing for quite a while."

Black Adam watched the Heart in hidden awe. He could feel it: the terrifying energy, the sounds of laughter, of joy, of emotions, all lying beneath that layer of crystal. The Heart wasn't just an artifact; it was alive. It was something that could bend reality merely by absorbing emotions.

He turned his gaze to Sombra, saying, "I will be taking that."

The Heart gently floated from Sombra's gauntlet as Sombra answered, saying, "You will be taking nothing, stranger."

Sombra was about to continue, but a lightning bolt pierced through his body, slamming with a terrifying explosion on the ice behind him.

Black Adam prepared to move to the Heart again, but he stopped as he noticed that the annoying man hadn't dropped to the ground yet.

Sombra was standing in the same position, his eyes surrounded by green smoke from dark magic and its corruptive nature. His chest, which was pierced, was covered in dark magical smoke as his chest reformed slowly.

"It seems you are unwilling to talk. Very well. I will make you regret that."

The next second, Black Adam moved to the sky as the entire snow-covered ground erupted with countless spikes of black crystals. But it didn't stop at that, as the crystals kept growing, following Black Adam into the sky.

Frowning in annoyance, Black Adam pulled his fist back and slammed one of the crystals, shattering it with brute magic and strength. Yet, a frown crossed his face as he felt a very small yet strange sensation the moment his fist touched the crystals.

Unfortunately, he would not have the time to think about it, as a dark shadow blocked the sunlight. Sombra, now in his hybrid form, towering over 12 feet tall, used brute strength and his crystals to launch himself at Black Adam, while his ring glowed as it transformed into a huge club.

All the while, the crystals, continuously fed by Sombra's magic, kept growing and surrounded Black Adam from the sides.

Black Adam frowned in annoyance as a wave of lightning erupted from his body, slamming everything around him in pure magical energy.

The crystals behind him cracked and shattered, but unfortunately, Black Adam was underestimating his opponent too much.

As the next second, a giant club slammed Black Adam in the face, sending him slamming back into the ground, causing the snow to break.

Sombra landed on the ground with a grimace. His chest, covered in blue scales, had a burning mark that spread across his body like a spider web from the lightning strike.

His devil fruit allowed him to generate and control lightning, which thankfully made tanking that attack possible, since Black Adam was focusing on range and not output.

But it still harmed him; after all, lightning birthed by magic wasn't the same as the natural kind that his devil fruit controlled. Thankfully, the resilience of his devil fruit was showing, as he felt the pain subside slowly.

Maybe half an hour? He didn't know how long, but he was sure it would not take long for this injury to heal off.

He glanced at his club, seeing it cracked and barely functional, but it was already repairing itself as Sombra fed his magic to the ring/weapon.

A frown of annoyance formed on Sombra's face. 'I knew steel-level durability was not enough. Not even close enough to last in such a fight. It would have likely completely broken off if I didn't surround the club in my crystals.'

'It's not like steel is weak. This whole universe is bugged out and simply disrespects physics.'

The weapon glowed slightly as it changed back to a ring that floated to Sombra's finger and changed size to fit as it settled.

While on Sombra's other hand, a new club formed from black crystal, as spikes surrounded the head of it. Some scales from Sombra's chest were falling to the ground as new ones replaced them slowly.

Black Adam stood up slowly, his face not showing any sign of injury, the greed in his gaze disappearing as he focused on Sombra, saying, "I was trying to finish this quickly, and it seems in doing so I have underestimated a bug like you too much."

His eyes glowed with lightning as he said, "I will not make the same mistake again."

Sombra raised his empty gauntlet as the Crystal Heart teleported to his hand, floating gently and answering with slow heartbeats to its king, as Sombra said, "That was a warm-up. And trust me, we have not even started. And we won't be finished until I teach you a lesson, stranger."
