"Oh no! I'm late again.. Teacher won't let me go this time." A boy left his house and ran as fast as he could with the last of his strength.
pant! pant! pant! "Why the hell is time moving this fast now? I've just covered half of the pa-" Chayu Tried to say something but bumped into someone and both fell on the ground.
"Are you blind...." Before Chayu could curse that person, he looked up and analyzed the person in front of him.
Surprisingly, it was a girl.
"What.. you're the one who bumped into me, and I'm not even the one running.. you're the on.. Wait, aren't you Chayu?" The girl scolded but became shocked after noticing the boy she bumped into.
"I am Chayu, but who are you?" He asked while getting up.
"What? You don't know me? We are in the same class.." She replied.
"I don't remember seeing you in class.. who are you?" Chayu became cautious.
"What the hell.. I've been in your class for 3 years; you don't know me?" She stared at the soul of Chayu.
"Ahem.. well.."Chayu didn't dare to speak but suddenly realized he was late. "Oh shit.. see you later, miss." He started running again.
"Oye idiot, you're not late.. School timings are changed.. you were in the class when the teacher told us" she chuckled.
"You're an idiot.. I'm.. just running as a way to train my legs and stamina.." He made an excuse since he really thought he was late.
"Oh really, the Great Chayu of our class thought he was late on a day when he wasn't?" She tried to tease him.
"Well..well.. I'm always late.." Chayu then started walking slowly.
"And why is that so?" the girl asked.
"That's becaus.. wait why are you even asking? And that's not even the main question, who are you?" Chayu suddenly burst on her with his confusion.
"Ah, I didn't introduce myself? I'm Divina, ofcourse your classmate, Mr. Dummy" she teased again.
"Yeah yeah whatever.." Chayu then walked towards school while she was following him.
"Why are you following me?" Chayu turned around and asked while walking backward.
"What do you mean following..? The school is in that direction.." Before she could continue to scold, Chayu tripped. She burst into laughter.
Chayu got up and walked to school without asking anything or looking at her.
She continued to tease him all the way. But Chayu didn't speak this time.
Eventually they reached school and sat in their classes.
After some time, Chayu's friends entered the class and saw Chayu.
"Oh f*ck, we're late.. I thought I was on time..." A friend of Chayu got scared after seeing him in class.
"Just shut up; I'm not always late," Chayu roared.
"See, I told you, didn't I?" Divina burst into laughter again.
His friends became confused but ignored Divina's comments.
"Hey, has that girl always been in our class?" Chayu asked his friends.
"Which one?" Harshit asked.
"The one who commented just now.." Chayu hurriedly directed a finger in her direction and swiftly hid his finger.
"Oh Divina? She's been in our class for 3 years i guess.. why you ask?" Harshit raised his eyes to meet Chayu's.
"Well.. I bumped into her today while coming here and rolled over the street but when I was just going to swear, she said my name.. Really, I was f*cked if I really swore that time" Chayu then continued, "Truly, bro, I didn't even notice her in class."
"What the f*ck are you saying, bro... She's been our class topper." Harshit then smacked Chayu's head with his hand in a friendly way.
"Oh..well.. hehe..I guess" Chayu just ignored it. He could not stop looking at her throughout the whole day.
Ring! Ring!
"Yeahhh.. school off.." The whole class shouted and everyone started leaving one by one.
Chayu just left the gate of school when he heard someone saying,"oh hero.. can't even wait for me?"
He turned around and looked back. It was Divina.
"Well.. I am a hero, but why should I wait for you?" Chayu glared at her.
"Ammm.. I got many answers. Which one do you wanna hear?" Divina got close and looked into his eyes.
Chayu was stunned, looking at the eyes. They were really beautiful. Two eyes staring at him. He started imagining many things, many thoughts flowed through his mind, but he stayed silent.
Looking at those beautiful eyes as if he was lost in them.
Snap! "Oh hello? What? lost in my eyes?" Divina started to tease again.
Chayu came back to his senses having red ears and said flustered, "Your? Yours.. bear eyes can't do that!"
"What! Bearr..!" She raged.
"Then what do I call it? Hmm.. how about raccoon eyes?" He mocked.
"Then you must be donkey, right?" She replied the mock with a taunt.
"Raccoon! Raccoon!" Chayu teased her.
"Just shut up now. Mr. Donkey," she became annoyed.
They then returned to their home. Chayu was smiling unknowingly, lost in thoughts.
He couldn't sleep at night remembering today's incident. Just smiling while lying on the bed.
*The Next Day*
Chayu was still late for school. Just as he was going for the sprint to school.
"Oh hero! Late again?" Divina called her, she was waiting just outside of his house.
"Why are you here?" Chayu became suspicious.
(She must be a thief to come here?) He thought.
"Well.. road is for everyone, and your question doesn't make sense. Why can't I be here?" Divina got close again and looked into his eyes.
"Well, whatever, but this isn't your path to school!" With that, he took many steps back to stay at a distance.
"Oh.. So do you know my path of school? Are you following me?" Divina played smart.
"Wait..amm.. ahh.. yes! I mean no! What I want to say is... this is my house, so of course I have never seen you here, that's why i concluded…" Chayu was flustered.
[The 'yes' here is just because he was confused and thought of a proper reply.]
"Oh ho… so you're smart person… hmm so you tell me, why am I here?" Divina chuckled.
"Are you a thief looking for a house to steal from?" Chayu eventually said his thoughts.
"WHAT!!!! Thief? Me?" Divina got shock for ages.
"Well.. oh no, we are late today.. run, idiot!" He just took the first step but Divina grabbed him.
"Oye.. today is off! Today is Sunday, idiot!" She scolded.
"Ah well..I.."Chayu didn't got any words.
"How can you forget Sunday? Didn't your mom tell you?" Divina asked curiously.
"I don't have.." Chayu said.
"What?"
"Parent... They disappeared when I was small, no news about them.." Chayu said with a bitter smile.
Divina's face turned pale after realizing what she had asked.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know.. sorry.." She had a bit of teary eyes.
"Well.. don't worry about it.. By the way, what are you doing here?" Chayu looked at her and patted her head.
"I.. I was going to the market.. I didn't know you lived here" she answered.
"Ohkay so.. want to go together?" He just suggested unknowingly.
"Well... Sure" she agreed with a smile.
"Ok wait here! I'll just change " He quickly changed his clothes and came out.
Divina became surprised," you're swift to change clothes! I have to think millions of times about what to wear.."
"Well.. I got only two sets of clothes, so it's easy for me" he laughed.
They both went to market together. Eventually Chayu needed to buy groceries too.
