Deep in the forest, a man was running at a very fast speed, and it looked as if he had been running for his life. When the man ran toward the city, the city looked more desolate than the forest. Here, even the sound of crickets could be heard, but seeing such a situation didn't feel surprising, as if he knew that no one would be there.
Just when the man entered the uninhabited building, he heard a loud roar, but he didn't dare to look back because he knew if he even made a simple movement, he would be killed here.
The man kept his head down even though his breathing looked slow, so as not to give even a simple chance for the creature outside to notice him.
Then he heard the loud sound again, but this time he just waited until this creature would leave. Just when he was waiting patiently, another loud roar came.
Looking at the situation, he thought:
"Two of the creatures came at the same time. Looks like they will be fighting, but what should I do? I can't wait."
Then his eyes started to search for a place to hide; otherwise, there wouldn't even be a place to survive. He started to crawl slowly without making noise. When he reached the main hall in the building, he saw a cellar room.
Without hesitation, he opened the cellar and entered it, closing it from inside so as not to be caught in the massive battle of the two creatures.
Then he looked for a relatively safe corner so as not to die from the impact of the building collapsing.
"Although it is a wooden building, it is still better to look for a safe place so as not to be buried in the house."
Then he looked at his package and kept it safe as well so it wouldn't be destroyed in the impact.
"What bad luck is this? I have been here for more than six months, but this is the first time I encounter two creatures at the same time."
He could still hear the aftermath of their battle, despite the distance between the fighting creatures and him. He couldn't control his emotions.
"It has been so many months, and I can't even find any weapon, but why do I feel that in front of the creature outside I am a small ant?"
He couldn't help but sigh. Then he thought of his entry to this world.
When he first entered this world, he didn't know how he appeared, but it was still a good feeling that he escaped from all the torture and trouble that had been after him. But when he started to look for people, he didn't find anyone for a very long time. He then started to have a bad feeling about whether he had traveled to some desolate world, but then he found the first city.
Although it looked like an ancient-style city, he still wished to see a few people to understand where he was. But when he entered the city, he only found himself in an empty city; even houses were left open as if everyone had left in a hurry, as if they were escaping from something.
But then he thought of the creature outside. He was sure the people of this world might have run away from these places.
"I have to find human shelter, or else I might become the dinner of these creatures outside."
Just when he was in his own thoughts, the battle outside grew intense. He felt the tremor coming from the ground.
He looked at the wall of the house. If there was a sudden crash, it would be difficult to survive.
"Bad luck really never left me. Even the one who used to love me betrayed me, and now I am stuck in this weird world."
His name is Damien. As for the place he comes from, it is the modern world, but what can he do even if he comes from such a place? He doesn't know anything about the world he is in. He can't go back to his own world, even though his situation there isn't good enough to go back.
He looked everywhere near places where another city is about 50 km apart, but he had to cross the forest where he first heard the roar of the creatures outside. He didn't even see what sort of creature it was, but he knew they were dangerous, so he didn't even feel curious and instead ran toward the city.
He has been avoiding these creatures for more than six months, but this time he almost lost his life due to a few fruits in the forest. Although these cities have a lot of different food storage, he still didn't try to eat it.
He didn't know when it was made or if there was anything that might affect his health.
In the cellar, he looked at the storage of grains, but he didn't try it. He has been surviving on fruits and a few rice grains which he found in other houses, and that was also due to fear of dying of hunger.
But he knew for sure that the fruits here were something magical; otherwise, his leg, which was broken when he was in his own world, wouldn't have healed when he ate after first arriving here.
"Those people didn't even let me live peacefully; they broke my leg and even damaged half my face."
Damien, as if remembering something, touched his face. Although the pain has gone during the six months, the deep memories are still very painful.
Damien even thought about whether he was imagining this world without anyone, but he could feel the hunger, sadness, fear, etc., during these six months, so he knew it wasn't his imagination.
He thought even hell would be way better than this bitter place where he didn't even know whether he could survive the next day.
Just when he was feeling that today might be his end, he suddenly heard a loud scream coming from the creature outside, but he didn't move. He still didn't move from his place but waited patiently.
He waited for more than three hours to see if the creatures outside left or not.
"Looks like the fight is over. I should see what these creatures really are; even their roar from a distance makes me shiver."
Damien walked slowly out of the cellar. Then he looked toward the outside from the window to see if the creature had left with its prey, but when he looked outside, he was scared out of his wits.
Looking at the creatures, he did not know whether they were alive or not. After all, their size is almost the size of a house here.
"What kind of creatures are these? Did I travel to some fantasy novel or what?"
Damien's eyes couldn't move from the creature, which looked like a buffalo, but he couldn't be sure if it was or not.
"What the hell happened to this world? Even domestic animals look so big. Or am I feeling so scared that I started to hallucinate even these monsters as domestic animals?"
Damien started to pinch himself to verify whether he was really hallucinating, but the pain of the pinch made him realize that this wasn't a dream or any imagination. Even if this were his own imagination, domestic animals would be the least likely thing to be made up into monsters.
Damien still waited patiently to see if the monster which killed this giant buffalo would return to eat it, but the creature didn't return. So he came out of the building and walked toward the buffalo to see if it was really the creature which had made him run around like this for the last six months.
When he reached near the monster, he was sure it was a buffalo, but no one would have seen a buffalo this big in his world.
Looking at the huge head, even though his height isn't small, here he felt like a small baby. After all, the height of the buffalo was almost 12 feet tall.
"So even if such creatures die, what would happen to me if I didn't find the other humans on the planet? But are they really alive? The way these creatures are, even humans might have already died. Even if this is just a domestic animal, what about those predators? They might be deep in the forest. I have to avoid traveling through the forest."
Just when he was planning his next move, he smelled a very roasted smell coming from the buffalo.
"What happened to this animal?"
