Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Quick Level Up, Killing Macbeth

John's attack speed increased, and fighting off three goblins at once was no problem at all.

He barely escaped killing the three-headed goblin this time. He was lucky, and got two copper coins.

"Keep going."

John did the same again, constantly drawing in and killing the goblins that wandered around.

Soon, groups of players showed up. When they saw this, they were all shocked.

A low-level player was fighting goblins by himself, and not even one-on-one. Since the game opened, no one had ever managed to do that.

If they knew John was a priest, they would have been even more surprised.

Some players even tried to talk to him and asked him to join their group, but he refused them all.

"Looks like I can't stay here anymore."

John killed another goblin and saw more players around him, including some familiar faces. He attacked again, killing all the students from Karlove Academy.

With a 1.2 attack speed, these new players were no match for him.

As for the small amount of sin value he gained, killing goblins would clean it up quickly.

After killing a few familiar groups, John felt much better. He turned and walked deeper into the wild.

More players were coming in, and this place was no longer good for him to level up.

The forest was quiet and deep. Bigger goblins, with dark green skin, were walking around.

These were 3-level goblins.

Boom!

Suddenly, a loud explosion came from nearby. Fire flew around, and two goblins screamed in pain. They ran toward a mage player.

The player didn't panic at all. He moved quickly and backed away.

He was a high-level player, 10th level.

John just looked at the player's actions and recognized who it was.

There were a few 10th-level players in the village. They weren't new students. They were from previous years.

They stayed in the village after reaching 10th level, and every year at this time, they helped new players level up.

They charged one gold coin per person. Some of them could make 20 or 30 gold coins a month, more than most players made in a whole year.

This guy was clearly one of the high-level players who helped newbies.

"Hmm?" John frowned, and a small smile appeared on his lips. He saw some familiar faces.

It was Macbeth and Anna, and two other players. They were all from Kleo Academy.

"Such a coincidence." John hid and didn't attack right away. He watched the high-level player instead.

He didn't know how much damage the guy could do. If the magic attack was over 50, he couldn't survive.

Boom!

Another fireball exploded, and the goblins screamed in pain. They still weren't dead.

The player cast five fireballs before finally killing them.

A 3-level goblin had over 200 HP. If the magic damage wasn't 50, John could take it.

This guy didn't have all his points in Spirit. Otherwise, his damage would be higher.

"Tom, your damage is so high. At this rate, I think we can reach level 10 in four days." Macbeth looked at the experience gain and said, trying to flatter him.

They had all reached level 2, and they were still fighting monsters above their level. Each goblin gave them 10 experience points.

Tom smiled and said, "It's not that fast. The higher you go, the harder it gets. Today, I'll try to get you all to level 4."

"Thanks, Tom." Anna smiled sweetly and said happily.

She was glad she was with Macbeth. If she was with John, she probably couldn't even fight a level 1 goblin.

Tom looked at Anna and got even more excited. He called out two more goblins.

At that moment, a figure suddenly rushed out from the bushes. It moved fast, and before anyone could react, it was right in front of Macbeth. A flash of cold light appeared, and a sword came down.

"Who!"

Macbeth shouted in anger and quickly backed away, hiding behind the others. He saw who had attacked him.

"John!" he shouted in surprise, then looked happy. "I was just thinking about killing you. You came to me. Go, kill him!"

He gave the order, and the two warrior players beside him attacked immediately.

Anna hesitated for a moment, then raised her staff and whispered a spell.

Bang, bang!

After a few hits, Macbeth and his group had only 2 levels. They dealt around 10 damage to John, which was nothing to him.

"Macbeth, you're dying today!"

John laughed coldly and ignored their attacks, chasing Macbeth closely.

"Damn it, how high is your damage? And how much HP do you have?"

Macbeth panicked. He was starting to feel the pressure, and his HP was almost gone.

"Tom, help me kill this guy. I'll pay you an extra gold coin." he quickly asked Tom for help.

Tom had already noticed what was happening, but he was stuck fighting two goblins and couldn't move.

"Stay strong. I'll take care of these two first." he said, dodging a goblin attack and chanting a spell. Magic energy flowed from his staff.

Boom!

A fireball hit, and the two goblins were killed.

At that moment, Macbeth's group had almost no HP left. They didn't dare to fight John directly and ran in panic.

Anna stared at John, her eyes wide in disbelief.

She had just left John and joined Macbeth. She thought she had made the right choice, but it seemed the universe had played a cruel joke on her.

"My God!" she shouted. Macbeth, in order to avoid John's attack, pushed her away.

Plop!

The sword came down. John showed no mercy. Anna had little HP left, and she was killed in an instant, vanishing as a white light.

"Hmph, you really are cheap!"

John snorted and showed no emotion. He turned and went after Macbeth.

At this point, the other two warrior players were too scared to fight directly and ran far away.

"A low-level player dares to act so boldly? Die!" Suddenly, a loud voice came from behind.

A whoosh of air passed by.

It was the high-level player.

-44

John felt a searing pain in his back, as if his flesh was being scorched. A number flashed above his head--44 HP.

Luckily, the mage's skill had a long cooldown, and this damage wasn't enough to threaten him.

John ignored the high-level player and turned back to Macbeth.

"Die!" he roared, swinging his sword down hard.

"No…" Macbeth had no time to dodge. He let out a desperate roar as his HP dropped to zero, vanishing into a flash of white light.

John vanished in a blur and quickly went after the other two warriors.

"Damn it!" Tom cursed. He had thought one fireball would be enough to kill the guy.

With his client dead, his reputation was seriously damaged. He quickly gathered mana again, confident this time he would kill John.

Boom!

The fireball soared. John fell to the ground, his face twisted in pain, but he was still alive. The forty-something HP he had lost was restored in an instant.

"Still not dead?" Tom's eyes widened in disbelief.

At that moment, John had already reached the side of one of the warriors.

"John, don't kill me! We've never had any grudge!" the warrior cried, panicking.

"Hmph. Blame your bald headmaster!" John sneered, driving his sword straight through the man's heart.

The warrior stared in shock, his eyes wide with terror and regret before vanishing as a flash of light.

The other warrior tried to run, but John, with all his points in Agility, easily caught up. Two quick slashes ended his life.

"Now it's your turn!"

John turned, staring coldly at the high-level mage. His back still burned from the sneak attack.

Tom swallowed hard, gritting his teeth. He chanted another spell, launching another fireball.

John didn't move. He slashed the fireball mid-air, then surged forward.

Plop!

-1

A pathetic number floated up. John's attack couldn't break the mage's defense, so he only managed to do one point of damage.

"Looks like your damage isn't that high. Probably maxed out Constitution, huh?" Tom relaxed, a confident smile on his face. He stepped back, gathering another fireball.

"Think you can't kill me?" John laughed coldly and ignored the fireball, turning instead to attack a goblin wandering nearby.

"Shit! He's trying to draw goblins on me!" Tom realized instantly. He chanted two more fireballs, but still couldn't kill John.

"How the hell is his HP so high? He's still alive!"

Tom was terrified. He saw more than a dozen goblins had already gathered around, and if he got surrounded, he would be dead for sure.

Without hesitation, he turned and ran.
