Synopsis
Starlight: Pulse is a near-future speculative novel that blends kinetic action, metahuman intrigue, and emotional resonance into a story about survival, identity, and connection under surveillance and control. Set in 2025, the story follows Panpriya "Lisa" Tharinchai, a globally beloved K-pop idol whose hidden abilities make her the target of HID — a covert international program that manipulates and detains metahuman anomalies. When Lisa vanishes in Bangkok under mysterious circumstances, it triggers a chain of events that exposes the true scale of HID’s atrocities. At the heart of the storm is Kyosuke Sagara, a fugitive anomaly whose volatile powers — known only as the Constant — have made him a ghost for a decade. When his path collides with Lisa’s once more, old bonds resurface, and buried truths threaten to tear open the world. As governments scramble, whistleblowers speak out, and resistance movements rise, Lisa must decide what it means to reclaim her voice — not just as a performer, but as a person. And Kyo must finally choose whether to run from his past… or face it.

HUMAN INTELLIGENCE DIRECTORATE

SURVEILLANCE REPORT NO. 441-∆: "THE WANDERER"

Classification: Kinetic Anomaly / Possible Omega-Level Threat

Designation: PULSE_01

Status: Uncontained

Objective: Detainment

Last Confirmed Location: China–Russia Border (6 Months Ago)

Prepared By: HID Ops MENA Division – Junior Agent Seo Seung-min

There is no conclusive proof he exists.

Because all we have are fragments.

Jittery footage. A blur. Shattered glass. A child vanishing from the path of a screeching bus—only to reappear safely in the arms of his sobbing mother, ten meters away.

In Damascus, they call him The Black Wind.

In Edmonton: The Vanisher.

But in Seoul, Jakarta, São Paulo—and across the globe—the name whispered most often is:

"The Wanderer."

Over three hundred verified eyewitness accounts across twenty-seven nations. Each report follows the same pattern:

Kinetic displacementZero technological residueFaint auditory pulse, low frequency (~32 Hz)No confirmed fatalities; minor injuries in some cases

He arrives. Intervenes. Disappears.

No name. No message. Untraceable.

Just a flash of light, a kinetic flicker—

And he's gone.

INTERVIEW – Survivor, Mumbai Train Derailment

Subject ID_24(name redacted)

"I never saw him until later. I felt the air fold, like a sandstorm had taken over, and then the train—just stopped.

One second, we were hurtling toward the bridge… and then—nothing.

He never said anything. I can't remember his face.

He looked at me while carrying a little girl with no shoes.

He looked scared.

I don't know who he is, but if he's out there—I want to thank him.

Let him know I'm praying for him."

Field Agent Report: Paris, France

Agent Vernedal – HID European Division

"At approximately 22:41 local time, subject entered a burning residential complex and rescued three children from the fifth floor.

He never spoke to the medics or firemen.

One grainy video shows a dark silhouette leaping roughly 200 meters across rooftops—

and then appearing to take off into the air."

Analyst Note: Motion signature and behavioral patterns consistent with subject PULSE_01.

Deleted Voice Message – Karasawa, Daichi

(Director of Global Operations)

(Recovered from encrypted archive)

"He's no hero. He's a walking anomaly. A ticking time bomb.

The more he runs, the more lives he endangers.

All it takes is one false move, one tic, one piece out of alignment—

and the world burns.

HID will save the world by taking him in.

And we will burn through every resource we have to do it."
