Balkis walked in quietly but hurriedly, trying to mask her absence in the house before they know but her fathers voice stopped her track.
He stood up from the hidden corner of the living room, a space hidden away from sight unless you look deeply.
"Where are you coming from lady? You refused to pick your calls since yesterday, where did you sleep? Balki..." his words were cut off by balkis mother who interrupted him.
Ah. ah. abba, ls she a baby?! Baba Rahmota, leave her now, maybe she went out with her friends. You know how we have been trying to make her stop all her "don't do this and don't do that things" she has been calling haram and halal all the time. She is finally hanging out with her friends, who knows if she will get to meet someone there." Her mother said jokingly but it only infuriates him, adding gasoline to the burning fire of rage in him.
Are you telling me she can start sleeping out because I allow her to go out with her friends? Woman... l have been tolerating you for a while now, she can have fun out but l will never tolerate her sleeping outside.

He shouted turning to balkis fully now "l am not your mother, if you are still under my roof, no clubbing like she always advise you, no man friend and no prostitution under my roof, you manage whatever I give to you." Her father said with finalty while she nods with each command, shaking, afraid he might hit her or her mother with how furious he looks but he never did.
This makes her think back to all her mothers bad teachings. "They all thought their father also agreed since he never stop their mother nor denied it until that morning, that moment marks the first.....and she saw how angry he looks.... like all his bottled up emotion cannot be contain any longer, like an overfull bottle that pours out with no space to take in anymore.
With eyes laced with tears, she whispered "Sorry dad.... l failed..."
"No, you didnt my dear...., I did and I'm sorry it takes this long." His voice faltered, trembled, and she saw tears in his eyes too and that broke her more.
"I will never sleep out again, I'm sorry and nothing happened, I swear it was a mistake, l didnt sell myself or ...." she promised him as she kneels down sobbing.
Are you sure you didn't follow a man home?

And no more sleeping out even in campus, though I trust you all, but your mothers words shouldn't get to you, it shouldn't change you. I will try my best to give you what you want, what you need.... I will try more..." he said, voice cracking, on the edge of tears, hugging his daughter tightly.
They all know their father is trying as a mechanic, hardworking but he earns little and with how the economy is going, it makes things become hard for him.
Both of them sobbing,..... shaking while the mother looks disgustingly like all his words means nothing to her.
I am doing all these for them, why are you painting me as the devil here?! She retorted, though weak.

I dont want my kids to end up with poor spouse, Is that too much to ask?!

She walks into her room feeling light as ever,..... like new, happy her dad did not condemn her but corrected her and stop their mother's corruption in time.
