In the 1334th year of the Starfallen calendar, high above the World of Sacrum. There sat 7 transcendant beings upon 7 glorious thrones of power and honor. Surrounding these exalted beings were countless other beings with stars and halos above their heads; some had many stars and crowns, while others had one or a few. These beings offered incense, praise, and music to the Ones who sat upon the glorious thrones.
Each of the 7 glorious beings had their own unique characteristics and traits that each defined them; traits such as the holy splendor that shrouded them, the weapons they wielded, the different halos that crowned them, and the personalities they displayed.
However though, despite their many differences, they also shared many similarities. They all wore armors of pure gold, linens whiter than pearls, sashes of purple, scepters of light, and many pairs of wings that roared like the raging oceans. Each one also contained 4 heads of creatures found on Sacrum, and all were covered in eyes from their crowns of their heads, to the soles of their burning bronze feet.
Each being was also surrounded by wheels of eyes that constantly turned and moved with the beings, and blue flames ignited the wheels in a furious blaze.
And lastly upon each of these Glorious Beings hovered patterns of bright shimmering lights that flashed and were surrounded in holy stardust; these high and exalted beings were what we know as "The 7 Constellations of Perfect Light"; the Sons and Daughters of the Most High God.
Whenever darkness falls over Sacrum, these constellations we see are actually the beings that overlook this world; a peaceful reminder that even in the darkest nights, they are watching over us, and as the Night grows darker, the more we can see these Constellations. These Constellations were tasked by the Most High God to become guardians over the World of Sacrum, and make sure all evil and wickedness were snuffed out swiftly. Since this was a task given by the Most High, failure and disobedience was not an option!
However though, on one particular night. The Constellations above shined a bit differently than usual. As the Constellations sat upon their shining thrones, they each looked upon the world with sorrowful and disheartened expressions. Something was wrong, even more so than usual. There was something wicked spreading upon their beloved planet, something they called "The Blight".
This 'Blight' was a cancer that was infecting their precious world, and no one knew the cause of it, nor how to stop it. It was completely unknown, and the Constellations didn't know how to react to it.
"What could we do?", "Can the denizens of Sacrum defeat it?", "Will this plague continuously spread?", "Will it destroy our world?", "What will happen to us?"
These grueling thoughts haunted the Constellations, it frustrated them deeply. However no one could act, and they each had their own reasons.
Although each Constellation wielded immense power, no one dared to act due to the Laws set before them by the Stars of Old. However despite this, each passing moment made them become more and more anxious, and impatience filled their hearts.
After much consideration and contemplation, one Constellation finally stood up from his throne and courageously addressed the others.
"I'm tired of this! The Blight must be stopped once and for all, we can't be bound to inaction any longer my brothers and sisters!"
The other 7 Constellations stayed silent and all looked at each other back and forth, this caused the anticipation to only grow heavier,
After another few short moments of silence, another replied back, "Brother Valor, I'm afraid there's not much we can do. We can't break our oaths to the Laws of Grace, it's taboo and forbidden! It doesn't matter how we feel, we just have to trust the denizens of Sacrum to purge this evil on their owns."
The Constellation called "Valor" replied back in an agitated tone, "We've tried that already and look how bad it's become. Each day the Blight only grows stronger, and the humans only grow weaker! If we allow anymore of this, then Sacrum will die right before our very eyes! And if Sacrum dies, then we would fail our God given duty as guardians! What would become of us then?"
Another Constellation stood up and chimed in, "So what will you do? Will you break our covenant with the Laws of Grace and intervene? Do you realize what will happen to you if such a sin is committed. And what about the rest of us? Do you even care that we would be held accountable for this?"
Valor rebutted to her concern, "Sister Joy, if we don't act now. Everyone will die. Defying the Laws created by Dead Stars is a risk I'm willing to make for the sake of our beloved Sacrum! It's not like the Laws of Grace were put in place by our Holy Father anyways!"
The Constellation named Joy sat back down and surrendered herself. Deep down, Joy knew that her brother Valor was right, she just wished there was another way.
Valor walked towards the middle of the holy throne room, there above a table of pure gold hovered the dying world they so passionately loved.
Valor hovered his hand over the dying world, and in a discouraged solemn voice he said, "My beloved Sacrum, even if no one else will. I will forever be your guardian. To me, you are more precious and sacred than the very Council of Stars that oversees you. The day I became your guardian was the happiest day of my existence. However seeing you now only fills my heart with fear and grief. Oh how I long to see this accursed Blight eradicated from you once and for all."
As Valor monologued to himself, a deep wave of conviction swept through the chamber. Each Constellation began to reminisce of days long since passed. The days before the Blight infiltrated the world, the days when humanity lived without fear of the Night, and being a Guardian was a joy rather than heartbreaking labor.
Each Constellation removed their crowns and laid them besides their thrones, and each one approached the world of Sacrum to place their hands above it.
As they all stood by and looked upon the world, one Constellation lifted up their voice to speak saying, "Sacrum, no matter what it takes. We will save you from this plague."
Upon hearing this, another Constellation spoke up saying, "This plague will be stopped, even if the Old Laws must be broken."
Then another spoke up, "We promised many years ago that we would protect you, and we are going to keep it."
One by one, each Constellation spoke their own resolve, and with each word they stirred each other to do what they were called to do; and that's to be the Guardians of Sacrum!
The lesser stars and constellations began to lament and weep loudly at the words of their leaders, soon each of the 7 began to burn with zeal and gave each other glances. Since their hearts were in one accord, and they were of one mind, they each were able to infer what the others were thinking. It didn't take long before their hearts resolved themselves to protecting Sacrum at all costs, and then the weeping stars began to sing out in joy again; the whole atmosphere completely shifted in mere moments.
Soon one particular Constellation announced to the whole Council this, "Is this it? Have we all finally come to the conclusion that we will collectively break our vows to the Laws of Grace?"
Another responded, "We're all in this together and we will take responsibility together. For the sake of Sacrum, we will do whatever it takes!"
Each Constellation nodded their many heads, and then one answered back saying, "Upon my name as Hope, I will bring hope into this world again! What must we do Lady Wisdom? Please give us your insight!"
The Constellation known as 'Lady Wisdom' replied back almost immediately, "Glad you asked Sister Hope, Listen up my brothers and sisters, I have a simple plan that would require the assistance and labor of all 7 Constellations of Perfect Light."
"What is it Sister Wisdom?" Joy replied.
The Constellation of Wisdom pointed at the world of Sacrum and said, "We need to find a mortal who is worthy to carry the burden of not only Sacrum, but also to receive a blessing from us so powerful that he or she would potentially surpass every Star and Constellation in the Cosmos; even surpassing us."
Each Constellation became shocked at this sudden answer, and so another Constellation replied back, "Lady Wisdom, are you sure? Such a Blessing upon a mortal could bring unpredictable consequences! And not just that, but how could a single mortal carry the burden of over a few billion lives upon their shoulders!?"
Lady Wisdom quickly raised her hand and answered back, "Would you mind letting me finish Brother Courage? I still have more to share."
The Constellation named Courage, nodded his head and signaled Wisdom to proceed, "Thank you dear brother, and so as I was saying. We must find one worthy of the Blessing of the Deep, and who could carry the burden of the world upon their shoulders. Such a person might be difficult to find, and will no doubt be unwilling to do so. So I am devising a way to not only find our Hero, but to convince them to become the Hero we desire them to be. They would follow our every order and command with complete obedience, and we would impart our very names into his heart: Truth, Wisdom, Courage, Valor, Hope, Justice, Joy!"
The Constellation of Justice chimed in, "A Hero with the qualities of all 7 Constellations of Perfect Light. Such a wondrous and profound declaration! To think such a warrior could exist."
Another Constellation spoke aloud and said, "Hold on Lady Wisdom, since we're already defying the Laws of Grace, wouldn't it be easier if we just incarnated ourselves into the world and purged the Blight once and for all? What's stopping us from doing that?"
Lady Wisdom shot back at the seemingly logical suggestion immediately, "Sister Truth, although that is true, that's also not entirely wise. Yes, we ourselves could enter the world, but not for long; if we were to stay long then the entire world will begin to collapse; Sacrum wasn't created for beings such as us, nor could it contain us, not even those among the lesser stars. However though, someone can receive our blessings and guidance."
"So what should we do? How do we find our Hero, Lady Wisdom?" one replied.
Lady Wisdom smiled, "Thank you again for asking Brother Justice, it's simple really. We just need to look for a faithful and righteous heart. And one who's not so frail as to crumble at the littlest opposition and struggle."
Sister Truth spoke again, "There's not many like that! Finding a faithful man is one thing, but one who's strong enough mentally and physically? Who could meet all the criteria?"
Wisdom looked over upon Sacrum until something caught her eye, she was drawn to it like a moth to a light.
"We might not have to look very far." Wisdom replied while pointing down in a specific area.
The other Constellations huddled in to see what she was pointing at, and to each of their surprises, it was the person (or rather 'thing') they'd least expected.
"No, you can't be serious dear Sister." Justice replied.
"This is ludicrous! Have you lost your mind!?" Valor chimed.
"I am very serious my dear brothers." she answered.
The throne room erupted in clamor, each of the Constellations voiced their opinions against Wisdom's suggestion, all except Lady Hope. All were in disagreement and Hope stayed silent waiting for the throne room to quiet down. Soon Hope decided enough was enough and raised her hand up getting everyones attention. They all slowly went quiet and inclined their ears to here what she had to say.
"Please dear Sister, tell us your reasoning behind this. I'm sure we can all agree that your guidance and wisdom far exceeds our own, and at the same time you've never been wrong even during the creation of Sacrum. Please would you enlighten us with your reasoning behind such a seemlingly ludicrous idea and why you're choosing this 'anomaly' as the Hero to save our beloved planet?"
All eyes then turned to Lady Wisdom, and then she nodded and continued, "Thank you again dear Sister, the interruptions are getting quite old, please allow me to explain myself."
"This better be good..." Valor replied.
"Simply put, the more you're saved from, the more grateful and indebted you'll be. And as everyone saw, our little friend down there has quite the horrifying ability, but is also in a quite dangerous position. Judging by his tenacity to stay alive, and the powers he possesses. I can predict that he will be the perfect acolyte to harbor our will and blessing. We just have to set some things in order, and reveal the steps he must take to become our perfect vassal."
"But what if it goes wrong, that 'thing' is not human." Lady Joy replied.
"It matters not even if he's human or not, all that matters is that he carries our will, and purges the Blight that's destroying Sacrum. After that, we will decide what to do with him. How does that sound?"
Courage slammed his hand into the golden table, "It sounds insane! To entrust everything into that abomination? We might as well be giving our blessings to the Blight itself!"
Wisdom immediately retorted, "Well do you have a better idea? Please enlighten us if you do. We would all love to hear it!"
Defeated, the Constellation of Courage then backed down and took his seat upon his throne.
Lady Hope then spoke up to ask Wisdom the most important question, one that should've been asked a long time ago, "We are wasting too much precious time. Where do we start? What should be our first move?"
Lady Wisdom placed her hand above the hellish pit that the Hero of Sacrum would be emerging from.
"We begin by saving him, and Lady Hope, I believe you'll be the best candidate for this rescue. We will plan accordingly depending on how our Hero receives our blessing."
Lady Hope's heart filled with joy, and she gave a graceful bow, "To bring hope to a hopeless world, this is what I was made to do."
The Constellation of Hope began to illuminate in marvelous light, she then smiled upon the struggling soon-to-be Hero and said, "Well then, shall we begin?"
