Chapter 8 - The Dark Arena

Catching beasts, signing contracts. Leon planned to think this through carefully.

He entered the Mystic Ruins Realm and started taking inventory of the resources and equipment he'd scavenged from the palace over the years.

Weapon: Crimson Crescent Moon.

A massive scarlet-bladed wild tachi, incredibly sharp. When infused with primal spirit energy, the blade could extend and elongate.

Weapon: Demon-Subduing Rope.

Could be used to restrain enemies. A magical tool that had extra power when dealing with evil creatures.

Blade Technique Manual: Infernal Netherworld.

An extremely evil blade technique from hell. Leon had only learned a few moves so far. In his view, this wasn't meant for humans to practice at all. In other words, humans couldn't unleash the true power of Infernal Netherworld.

Manual: Divine Origin Energy.

A god-tier cultivation method that covered everything: physique and spirit, gathering and circulating energy. This was Leon's most basic core technique.

Defensive Technique: Four Symbols Return to Origin Force (Black Tortoise Fragment).

Four Symbols Return to Origin Force consisted of four parts: Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermillion Bird, and Black Tortoise. Leon currently only had the Black Tortoise section. Besides increasing physical defense, it could also form a powerful defensive barrier outside the body.

Medical Technique: Supreme Clarity Restoration Arts.

A manual focused on medical skills and healing techniques.

Defensive Gear: Black Dragon Armor.

Inner armor made from refined dragon scales. Impervious to blades and bullets, immune to fire and water.

What remained were some elixirs and various other treasures, but they weren't particularly useful for this mission, so no need to mention them all.

The ancient battlefield in the palace within the Mystic Ruins Realm was filled with way too many random items. Buddhist, Taoist, demonic, all kinds of stuff. It was like the gods had a free-for-all.

Leon had initially worried he wouldn't be able to use these manuals. After all, different worlds, different power systems.

But after trying to cultivate them, he realized he'd been overthinking it.

They were all forces of heaven and earth. Primal spirit energy was just another name for energy. These techniques worked just fine in this world.

Plus, the Aeternum Continent's natural energy was even more abundant. Otherwise, how could those powerful beasts have been born?

Right now, he had cultivation foundations, defense, healing, weapons, and equipment. Everything was pretty much covered.

But his offense seemed a bit lacking.

For this mission, Leon was being bold and had a huge appetite.

But he wasn't reckless. The bigger the risk, the more careful you needed to be. The plan had to be comprehensive and thorough.

"If only I could bring those divine beasts from the Mystic Ruins Realm into reality. They could even serve as muscle. Too bad."

Shaking his head, Leon abandoned that unrealistic fantasy.

Everything still had to be based in reality...

….

Black Rock City, underground arena.

The arena was packed, nearly ten thousand spectators roaring and cheering, the atmosphere wild and sweltering.

On the dirt floor below, though the bloodstains had been cleaned up, the air still carried a faint smell of blood.

You could tell how real and brutal the "show" was.

"Ladies and gentlemen, next up is tonight's most anticipated grand finale! Let's welcome the Black Dragon Valkyrie: Re-gi-naaaaa!"

Each word rising higher than the last, this mohawk-sporting host was a master at pumping up the crowd.

Accompanied by even more enthusiastic roars and excitement from the surroundings, a tall, graceful figure gradually walked into the arena.

Nearly six and a half feet tall, refined platinum-short hair, wheat-toned glowing skin, a perfect physique rivaling a fitness model.

Silver petal-shaped scales grew along her sides and the outer parts of her shoulders and upper arms. The exposed skin was covered in old and new scars.

Healthy, powerful, wild, radiating a unique kind of beauty.

A cold, aloof face with bold features, especially those beast-like amber vertical pupils that made anyone who looked at her shudder and not dare meet her gaze.

Worn chest plate and skirt armor, clearly defined abs, and that massive halberd in her hand made your neck feel cold just looking at it.

A young guy in the front row of the audience seats couldn't help but praise:

"Not bad looking. Hope she doesn't disappoint."

After the Black Dragon Valkyrie Regina stood in the center of the arena, the host unconsciously took several steps back. Once he'd established a safe distance, he continued:

"Now, for her opponent, a C-grade beast: the Thundertusk Boar!"

As soon as the host finished speaking, the entire audience reached peak excitement!

A C-grade beast! This was why the stands were packed tonight!

A massive beast cage was slowly pushed into the arena by a dozen people, huffing and puffing.

Inside the cage was a brown-skinned wild boar nearly thirty feet long.

Those six-foot tusks looked terrifying.

Thundertusk Boar, a beast-type pig class creature. Thick skin, lots of meat, possessing terrifying strength and impact force. Among C-grade beasts, it was lower-tier.

As soon as this brown-skinned boar appeared, someone in the front row pulled up detailed beast information in their mind.

This Thundertusk Boar was currently asleep due to drugs.

After the staff and host left, leaving only the woman and beast in the dirt arena, the cage door slowly opened.

A visible blue electric current flashed across the Thundertusk Boar's body!

At the same time, a blue magical barrier rose at the arena's edge, naturally to protect the audience's safety.

With a roar like a twelve-cylinder engine, the sleeping beast finally opened its basketball-sized bloodshot eyes.

Most of the audience at the arena's edge excitedly stood up, shouting!

Who would've thought these people weren't here to see a beautiful woman, but to see a pig...

Regina looked at the little meat mountain glaring at her from not far away, her brow furrowing slightly. She tensed up, gripped her halberd tighter, and assumed a combat stance.

Only she, the one involved, understood how much pressure this Thundertusk Boar was putting on her.

The audience at the edge also held their breath.

C-grade beasts, even lower-tier ones, could only be challenged by five-star warriors.

As a four-star warrior, even with dragon bloodline, Regina would have extreme difficulty winning this match.

With a rumbling sound, the Thundertusk Boar pawed the ground and charged straight at the stunning figure across from it!

Pig rush, simple and brutal.

With Regina's impressive height, she looked small compared to this thirty-foot pig.

Just as those sharp tusks were about to pierce her, Regina suddenly dodged to the side, while her halberd viciously slashed at the passing pig body!

The axe blade and pig skin collided, sparking visible flames!

Though the wound wasn't deep, it still made the Thundertusk Boar grunt in pain.

But the pain only made it fiercer.

Turning around, its massive pig head swept, stabbed, and thrust!

Those long tusks were being wielded like a pair of sharp swords, whooshing through the air.

Though there was no technique, Regina didn't dare let her guard down. For a moment, clanging sounds rang out as sparks flew between the halberd and tusks.

Both sides fell into a stalemate for the time being...
