Chapter 459: The Existence of a Time Machine

"Huh?" Silas was slightly confused as to why Qiu Yu was calling out to him.

Qiu Yu thought for a moment and said, "How about I treat you to a meal? Consider it a way of helping my brother thank you for traveling all the way from the other side of the Pacific to be here."

"Alright." Silas readily agreed. He was actually looking for a reason to spend more time talking with his sister.

The two of them walked to a Chinese restaurant and found a seat.

"I'm not sure if you're used to eating Chinese food?" Qiu Yu suddenly remembered after sitting down. Silas was a foreigner, after all; would he like the local cuisine?

To be honest, many foreigners found the flavors too strong, or couldn't handle certain traditional ingredients.

"I definitely can," Silas smiled.

It was a funny thought. Despite his current Western appearance, his soul was born and raised right here. He was more "local" than anyone else in the room.

"Okay then." Qiu Yu picked up the menu. After picking a few dishes for herself, she handed it to Silas. "I don't know your taste, so you choose. Don't worry, it's on me."

"Thanks." Silas took the menu. As he looked at the names of the dishes, a profound sense of familiarity washed over him.

Back in the Marvel world, he often had Shadow Ninjas fetch him Chinese takeout, but the taste was never quite the same as the authentic flavors of home.

Silas immediately ordered his favorites: Kung Pao Chicken, Chopped Chili Beef, and Boiled Fish Head...

Qiu Yu watched with her jaw dropped. This foreigner certainly wasn't being polite. I said I'd treat you, but you don't have to order like your life depends on it! Can you even finish all that?

Despite her thoughts, she didn't stop him. She had given her word, so she would just have to "swallow her teeth" and pay the bill.

Finally, after ordering his tenth dish, Silas snapped out of it. "Did I order too much?"

"No, not at all," Qiu Yu said, forcing a smile.

Silas, a veteran at reading people, immediately saw his sister's distress. He closed the menu and said, "That'll be all."

"Phew~" Qiu Yu felt a weight lift off her heart. If he had kept going, she would have been eating dirt for the rest of the month.

Soon, the dishes arrived. Tasting the flavors of his hometown, Silas almost couldn't hold back his tears.

During their conversation, Silas learned that his family had moved away from their old house, but they were still nearby in the next town over. Today was the anniversary of his death, so Qiu Yu had come to pay her respects. The parents hadn't come because she feared they would be overwhelmed by grief again.

Two years ago, they had cried until they fainted at the grave. Both were in poor health; his mother had a heart condition, and his father's health had declined due to years of grueling work.

Qiu Yu was working part-time to help with household expenses while maintaining top grades to earn university scholarships. Hearing how capable his sister had become, Silas felt a deep sense of pride.

He remembered her as a rebellious little girl who hung out with the wrong crowd and had a terrible attitude toward the family. It seemed his death had forced her to grow up.

Since he was here, Silas couldn't just stand by. He decided he would heal his parents' bodies and bring them some wealth—though not so much that it would make Qiu Yu lazy.

"Blacklight, set up a Swiss bank account for me," Silas thought. "Deposit... one million USD."

One million USD converted to roughly over six million RMB—more than enough for his family to live comfortably while still encouraging his sister to pursue her own path.

"Oh, right." Mid-meal, Qiu Yu suddenly put down her chopsticks and took a small silver object from her bag. "This was left to me by my brother, but I think you might need it more."

"An object?" Silas was surprised. When did I leave something for her?

The Marvel World

"I can't believe it. A time machine was actually built," Gwen whispered, tracing the smooth surface of the device.

"No, this time machine is an unfinished prototype," Peter said, standing by the control panel and deciphering the internal systems.

"Correct. It is a prototype, but only because of the technological limitations of five years ago. I believe you've researched time travel yourself, haven't you, Peter?" The Silas projection looked at him.

Peter nodded. Beside him, Gwen's eyes widened. She had no idea Peter had been working on this in secret.

"I leave the research of this machine to you, Peter. I know you can do it." The Silas projection slowly faded into the air; his mission was complete.

Peter nodded solemnly. "Don't worry, Silas. I will bring everyone back!"

"What's the first step?" Lian asked, standing up. This concerned Silas's resurrection, after all.

"I need to reassemble the Avengers." Peter knew he couldn't finish this alone. He needed help. Only by working together could they pull this off.

Fortunately, because of Peter's wedding, the Avengers were still in New York.

"Gaia, send a priority message to the Avengers," Peter commanded.

Ten Minutes Later — Avengers Compound

The remaining heroes gathered in the hall.

"You're here too, Cap?" Natasha smiled. "I thought you'd be halfway across the country by now."

"The government had a few things they wanted to discuss," Steve said.

"Anyone want a taco?" Professor Hulk walked over, wearing an oversized shirt. He was now a permanent blend of Banner and Hulk. After Thanos had beaten Hulk so badly five years ago, the two had finally reached an understanding and merged.

"Honestly, it's still a bit weird seeing you like this," Natasha laughed, playfully punching Hulk's stomach.

Hulk feigned pain and clutched his midsection. "Ow! That actually hurt."

"What's going on?" Rocket asked as he and Nebula hopped off their landed starship.

"In Earth terms, they're flirting," Rhodey said as he joined them. "Think of it as animals releasing hormones."

"Do you want a taco?" Hulk offered, trying to change the subject.

Everyone declined. Rhodey turned to the center of the room. "Why did Peter call us all back so suddenly?"

"I'm not sure," Steve said. "He said it was urgent."

They entered the main lab and saw Peter tinkering with a massive machine.

"Hey! Calling us back so soon... are you planning on getting married again?" Rhodey joked.

Peter shook his head, his expression dead serious. "Do you want to reverse what happened five years ago?"

"What are you talking about?" Steve was the first to ask. Everyone looked at Peter with confusion.

"This is a time machine. It can be used to travel through time and space. Its inventor... was Silas," Peter announced.

The room went silent. It was as if their brains had collectively glitched. A time machine? Invented by Silas, who had been dead for five years?

"Peter, do you have any idea what you're saying?" Natasha asked, sounding concerned for his mental state.

"I do, Natasha. It's real."

"What's the principle behind it?" Professor Hulk asked, walking over to examine the device. Unlike the others, he wanted to know the science. The theory of time travel had been around for ages, but no one had ever made it work.

"I don't know if you've heard of it, Professor," Peter said. "The Quantum Realm."
