Chapter 463 - Chapter 463: Attempting the Crossing

Chapter 463: Attempting the Crossing

As Silas pressed the button, a violent surge of energy erupted from the amplifier, slamming into the walls of the surrounding laboratory.

Boom!

The laboratory could no longer contain the frantic energy of the amplifier. Like an over-inflated balloon, it burst open, kicking up a sandstorm dozens of meters high across the wasteland!

At that exact moment, the amplifier fired a beam of energy it had been suppressing for far too long. The deep red beam, carrying an aura like the end of the world, collided squarely with the Rabbit Talisman.

Bang-Boom!

"I'm out!" Although the impact didn't harm Silas, it didn't mean he wanted a mouth full of sand.

Silas clutched the spider-robots hidden in his collar and transformed into a streak of white light, flying into the sky. Technically, it wasn't true flight since the Rabbit Talisman was still below; he was simply using repulsive force to launch himself upward.

Once he reached a height of a hundred meters, Silas used the Levitation power of the Rooster Talisman to stabilize himself, looking down at the desert now blanketed in dust.

"Chirp chirp chirp~" The spider-robots poked their heads out of his collar curiously.

Silas could no longer see the amplifier through the sandstorm; there was simply too much grit in the air. At most, he could see a faint, deep red flicker of the laser.

"Should I stop it for a second?" Silas rubbed his chin, pondering. He had ways to quell the storm—the powers of the Wind Demon or the Sky Demon could end it instantly—but he feared interfering might ruin the amplifier's progress.

After hesitating, he decided to wait and see. It would be a tragedy if he ruined a successful experiment by meddling.

Silas raised his left hand slightly. A mountain a hundred meters high rose from the earth with a tectonic rumble, like a demon roaring from the depths. He sat on the peak of the newly formed mountain, using a wall of wind to block the incoming sand, and pulled out some fruit.

"Who knows when this will die down." Silas took a bite of an apple. A Shadow Ninja appeared beside him and offered a cup of Cola.

Silas sighed. Definitely a Shadow Ninja of this world. If it were a Shadow Ninja from the Marvel world, they would have brought him a fresh glass of juice instead.

"No thanks. Besides, who drinks Cola while eating fruit?" Silas waved the ninja away.

The three spider-robots hopped onto Silas's lap, staring at the pile of fruit that looked like a mountain to them. Seeing them playing with an orange, Silas smiled. These little guys were actually quite interesting.

The Marvel World

"Are you sure Thor lives here?" Rocket asked, looking skeptically at the dilapidated, messy houses.

Steve nodded. "Yes. Professor Hulk told me. The remaining Asgardians are living here in Norway."

"Talk about a downgrade," Rocket muttered, glancing around. The place looked like a collection of medieval stone huts—nothing like the home of a King of Asgard.

Steve didn't answer. He walked to Thor's front door and knocked gently on the wood. There was no response. Seeing this, Rocket simply pushed the door open and walked in.

"Isn't this technically breaking and entering?" Steve paused at the door before following Rocket inside.

As soon as Rocket stepped in, a foul stench hit him. He wrinkled his nose instantly. "Heck! Did something die in here?"

"Hello? Thor?" Steve called out, holding his breath against the discomfort.

"Are you here to fix the TV? It stopped working two weeks ago. Can't see a thing, just static," Thor's voice called out as he fished a beer out of a pile of ice.

Steve stared at the man in front of him in disbelief. "Thor?"

Hearing a familiar voice, Thor turned around. When he saw Steve and Rocket, he beamed. "Oh! It's so good to see you guys!"

He gave Steve a massive hug and patted Rocket on the head. "And you, you cute little trash panda."

"Let me introduce you to my friends, Miek and Korg." Thor gestured to two aliens on the sofa playing video games.

"Hi~ we have Wi-Fi, no password," Korg said without looking up from the screen. Then he took off his headset. "Thor! That guy is back again!"

"NoobMaster69?" Thor asked.

"Yeah. NoobMaster69 called me a moron," Korg nodded.

Thor marched over to Korg, snatched the headset, and yelled into the mic, "NoobMaster, it's me again! Thor, God of Thunder! Listen, if you don't log off right now, I will fly to your house, find that basement you're hiding in, rip your arms off, and shove them up your butt! Yeah! Go cry to your father, you little coward!"

Thor handed the headset back to Korg. "If he bothers you again, let me know."

"Thanks, Thor. I will," Korg said, putting the headset back on.

Steve looked at this familiar yet unrecognizable Thor. "Thor, you don't look so good."

"What? I feel great." Thor grabbed a beer. "You want one?"

"..." Steve was silent for a moment. "We found a chance. A way to redo everything. We can save everyone."

"Right now, I just want to see if I can fix the cable," Thor said, eyes drifting back to the broken TV.

"Seriously, you look like a melted ice cream cone," Rocket quipped.

Steve put a hand on Thor's shoulder. "Listen, Thor. We need you. We need to save everyone from Thanos. Your brother, Loki, too."

"Don't mention Thanos to me." Thor brushed Steve's hand off and sat on the sofa.

"Don't you want to save Loki?" Steve asked.

Thor didn't speak; he just kept drinking his beer.

"You're afraid of him," Steve said.

"Ha! Me? Afraid of Thanos? Korg, tell the Captain here who chopped Thanos's head off."

"Uh... was it Stormbreaker?" Korg asked.

"And who swung Stormbreaker?" Thor rolled his eyes. Can't you just back me up?

Steve continued, "We really need you, Thor. The Avengers aren't the same without the God of Thunder."

"But my friends need me too, right?" Thor countered.

"That's right, Thor. We've got a deal," Korg said, returning to his game.

Steve sighed, finding it hard to convince him. Rocket, however, picked up a bottle of beer. "We have better booze on the ship."

Thor's eyes lit up. "What brand?"

In truth, Thor had already been moved by Steve's words, but he couldn't drop his pride so easily. Rocket's mention of alcohol gave him a graceful exit.

"Every brand you can think of," Steve added, playing along.

Avengers Base

Thor and Steve returned to the compound. Rhodey was carrying some spare parts when he saw them.

"I thought you were bringing Thor back? Who's the guy made of cheese?" Rhodey asked as he passed. Thor took a swig of beer and ignored him.

In the lab:

"Careful! This is all we have left," Scott said, now wearing the white Quantum suit. Peter had redesigned the Ant-Man suit to be more stable for time travel.

"Don't worry, I'm being careful." Professor Hulk loaded the Pym Particles into the containers. Scott had gone back to retrieve the four remaining vials—only enough for a round trip. They were currently using the extra particles to test if the temporal bridge would hold.

Outside, Peter and Rocket were modifying the time machine Silas had left behind, expanding it so it could transport more than one person at a time.

"Alright, we're going in... AHHH!"
