Upon receiving the mission, Ya Ya immediately clenched her fists earnestly. "Don't worry, brother! I won't let any monsters disturb your interrogation!"
The first task her brother gave her! Forget about whether the monsters inside would run away, even if a monster just walked past the door, she would punch it twice to chase it away!
Watching the small red figure strut away from the house, Yin Xiu felt a complex mix of emotions. It was as if he had forgotten that this was a monster; the fact that the word "interrogation" came out of her mouth was quite remarkable.
After Ya Ya left, Li Mo smiled and said, "Boyfriend, is there anything you hope I can do?"
Yin Xiu wasn't quite used to being called "boyfriend" yet, and felt a little awkward every time he heard it. He waved his hand dismissively, "You can just stand over there."
He exudes enough intimidation simply by smiling and staring at the other person; there's nothing else he needs to do.
Li Mo immediately straightened up. His boyfriend only wanted him to stay by his side, which meant his boyfriend needed his company! He wanted to stay close to his boyfriend and not let him interrogate him too boringly!
After dealing with the two small monsters around him, Yin Xiu calmly stared at the deflated monster and said, "Tell me everything you know about this instance."
"Oh..." Faced with three powerful figures standing before him, the monster had virtually no way out and could only slowly say, "The fact that you entered this area means you are at least at the fourth level of mental strength... You entered here because of some hallucinations after attacking the staff."
Yin Xiu silently turned to look at Li Mo beside him. He didn't know what was going on with him, so he could only ask Li Mo.
Li Mo remembered the rules she found on the wall and, under her boyfriend's gaze, confidently declared, "He's already at level five of mental illness."
"Level 5 mental illness…" The eerie figure stared thoughtfully at Yin Xiu, "You are faster than the average person."
Not understanding the current situation, Yin Xiu habitually asked in a cold voice first, "Is my situation more serious than it is now?"
The eerie figure shook its head. "No, level five of mental illness is already the highest. The fact that you were able to reach this stage so quickly actually means that the memories that are binding you are very clear and accurate. Once you get past it, you will wake up much faster than the average person."
Yin Xiu was somewhat dazed, but he seemed to understand that the so-called memory constraint could only be Xiao Xiao's matter, because there was nothing else in Yin Xiu's past that he cared about more.
"In life, there will be many experiences that are hard to get over. The reason why they are knots in your heart is that you can't let go of them. When you encounter them again, you will still stumble there. It seems that your life path is different from that of normal people. After you get rid of the biggest knot in your heart, you have nothing else to care about, so you quickly reach level five."
As Yin Xiu listened, he sensed something was amiss. "Level five is actually a good thing?"
The eerie creature slightly shifted its gaze. "I suppose so... I can't go into details..."
Yin Xiu's knife swept past it, leaving a bloody gash on its face. "Are you sure you can't go into details?"
His voice was somber, and with an extremely ferocious monster beside him that had captured it, the monster had almost no choice.
"Actually..." the eerie voice sighed, "it's because the entire mental hospital is based on the opposite of reality. The more severe the illness, the closer it is to reality."
"Look at where you are now, isn't it perfectly clean and normal? That's because this is a normal mental hospital! Only people with severe mental illnesses would see it as a bloody mess!"
Rule Three of the Mad Zone: People entering this area no longer need to take medication. What you see is everything, and there is no interference from any drugs.
Yin Xiu silently pulled out a floor plan of the mental hospital from his pocket. The part that was blacked out was the ward for the mentally ill, while the other part was marked as the ward for mental treatment.
"I'm fine here, so what about this mental health treatment area?"
"The mental health treatment area is terrifying. Those things that look like hallucinations are actually real!" The eerie figure wiped sweat from his face. "The players who stay there are the high-risk mental patients..."
"All players in the instance start the instance in a state of high-risk mental illness... That's how the instance is set up... It's difficult for ordinary players to notice."
Yin Xiu pulled out a mental illness classification rule sheet from his pocket. It clearly recorded the levels from one to four, indicating that patients in the mental treatment area were sent to the mental ward only when they gradually became dangerous and serious.
In reality, this is where the players are recovering; the real "mad zone" is where the players first entered.
Yin Xiu frowned, thinking that the man who had spoken to him through the butterfly when he woke up seemed to be outside his area. Was he still in that truly dangerous area?
He stroked his chin thoughtfully, "I remember some things about this instance. There's a secret door in one of the rooms in this area that leads out of the mental hospital, which is why the crucial floor plan of the insane ward is blacked out."
The eerie creature paused for a moment, "So you've cleared it before... But this dungeon was temporarily closed to normal dungeons after it was cleared by one person last time, right? It's been five years, how do you still remember?"
Yin Xiu smiled without saying a word. He could clear the game, but he never looked at the plot when he cleared it. He killed all the strange NPCs, so he had no idea about the background of the hospital. Therefore, he didn't quite remember where that room was and had to find it slowly.
But what's more important now is that there's still someone left in the mental health treatment area. This is a newbie that I've mentored before, so he must be someone I care about. Otherwise, I wouldn't have taken him through the dungeon, right? After all, the current Yin Xiu wouldn't even think about mentoring a newbie.
"I feel like I need to go back to the psychiatric ward." Yin Xiu looked up at Li Mo thoughtfully. "What do you think…"
He never took the initiative to seek out the people in the instance, nor did he ever think of helping anyone. At least, that was true of Yin Xiu three years ago. So, it's reasonable for him to take the initiative to step forward and for his future self to help him resolve his inner conflict.
Li Mo smiled and gazed at Yin Xiu, "I always respect my boyfriend's choices. Wherever my boyfriend goes, I will go."
Yin Xiu sighed slightly. This little monster was still as indecisive as ever, always listening to him. Although he had taught it to seek his opinion beforehand, the only time it ever had its own opinion was when it rejected him.
So many years have passed, and apart from that one time, everything else remains the same, just in a different guise.
"Is there anything else you want to say?" Yin Xiu asked calmly, glancing down at the strange creature.
"That's about it... That's all the information I can give you. I'm only in the mental district, and I don't know anything about the mental district..." the eerie creature said hesitantly.
Yin Xiu nodded calmly, "Thank you."
Then, with a single slash, he killed the monster.
He casually wiped the knife clean, put it back in the hilt, and indifferently turned to take Li Mo's hand. "Let's go."
Li Mo was led away from the house by the hand. He glanced back at the monster lying on the ground and could clearly sense that the person next to him now was Yin Xiu from three years ago, still the god of death.
As always, indifferent and ruthless.
