Some people, encouraged by the diviner, immediately raised their weapons and charged at Yin Xiu, while others gradually came to their senses amidst their fear.
After watching that person recklessly rush forward, only to be swiftly killed by Yin Xiu with a single, clean strike, the people behind him stood frozen in place, speechless.
Yin Xiu observed their expressions for a few seconds, then kicked the man who had rushed at them, sending him sprawling in front of them. The blood-soaked corpse lay at his feet, and the hesitant men immediately took a large step back in fright, staring nervously at Yin Xiu.
"No one else wants to come?" Yin Xiu stared at them calmly, his expression and tone very composed. The more indifferent he was after killing people, the more expressionless he was in this sea of blood, the more terrifying he appeared.
These believers, who lived peacefully under God's protection, had never seen such a person before. They felt that what stood before them was just a monster in human skin. It was hard to say what was under his skin. It was impossible for anyone to be so terrifying!
Everyone retreated, showing fear, which was exactly what Yin Xiu wanted to see.
As long as they have the thought of wanting to live out of fear, they can only rely on the help of the new god in front of Yin Xiu, this terrifying being. As for those who have no brains and don't want to live, Yin Xiu saves them the trouble and directly delivers them to the afterlife, which can be considered as doing a good deed.
"Why are you retreating! We can't retreat here!" the fortune teller shouted in frustration.
The crowd trembled, but no one dared to step forward. They were terrified. "Even if we... we couldn't kill him... Is this monster really something we can kill?"
Finally, someone raised a sober question, which also made it clear to the others that they were powerless in front of Yin Xiu.
"Going up there will only get us killed… We can't do anything to him! He's a being that can kill gods! How could we possibly kill him!" someone shouted in terror.
"Even if you don't go up and kill him, he will come and kill you! Do you want to wait to die?!" the fortune teller roared.
Someone reluctantly replied, "Of course I don't want to wait to die! But I don't want to go and throw my life away either!"
The remaining people were already clear about their thoughts: they just wanted to live, and they would not confront Yin Xiu head-on.
Yin Xiu listened quietly to their conversation, pondered for a moment, and then took a step forward. Everyone immediately turned around and fled in a panic.
The chaotic crowd that had gathered there scattered and disappeared within a minute, leaving only the fortune teller standing on the high platform.
This situation is pretty much what Yin Xiu expected. Everyone is now very afraid of him and has also learned to run away, which is proof that they want to live. This group of people are believers who can be taken away by the new god. As for the stubborn ones, they are basically all lying on the ground. Only the diviner in front of him is standing here shouting.
Yin Xiu stared at him, a sinister smile on his face.
The fortune teller looked around and, seeing no one, turned to leave, but Yin Xiu wouldn't give him that chance.
He patted his collar and whispered, "Boyfriend, go and bring him back."
The little tuft of tentacles, with only one eye peeking out from under the collar, burst out as soon as it heard its boyfriend's command and headed straight for the fortune teller.
The fortune teller saw that the terrifying being stood still and thought he could leave like the others, but after running only a couple of steps, something invisible suddenly grabbed his neck.
His face turned pale instantly, and he tried to break free of the things binding his neck, but when he touched them, he could feel something cold and sticky, which was definitely not human.
The fortune teller felt dizzy, and the path he was trying to escape from turned into Yin Xiu's face. Yin Xiu stood still and grabbed him, which further solidified the fortune teller's belief that Yin Xiu was a monster.
"You...you monster! You killed a great god! You will pay the price!" Knowing he couldn't leave, the diviner could only glare fiercely at Yin Xiu.
"I'm not a monster." Yin Xiu stared at him calmly. "I'm a person, just like you."
The diviner was stunned for a moment, and before he could react, Yin Xiu continued, "I did not kill your god. The god of this Forgotten City abandoned you on his own initiative. You are all just abandoned children of the god."
"You! You're lying!" the fortune teller's eyes widened in anger. "God would never abandon us! You killed God!"
"But it's alright! The new god will guide us! The new god will protect the Forgotten City. We still have a future. We will not be defeated by you, you monster!"
Yin Xiu silently curved the corners of his mouth, glancing sideways at the little tentacle ball on his shoulder. "I'm here to find the new god you mentioned. I'm going to lock the god you revere in my collection jar, and take it out every day to admire the imprisoned god. What do you think?"
The fortune teller's eyes widened. "You're a monster!!"
The little tentacle ball on Yin Xiu's shoulder wriggled excitedly, "I like it!"
The fortune teller glanced at the strange thing on Yin Xiu's shoulder out of the corner of his eye. Before he could react, Yin Xiu smiled slightly at the fortune teller and said, "Did you hear that? Your god says he likes it."
Just as the diviner finally realized what was happening, Yin Xiu slashed him with his sword, freezing him in that moment of terror and shock forever.
"But I don't have a jar big enough to hold you." Yin Xiu patted the little tentacle ball's head, then grabbed the fortune teller's corpse and walked step by step toward the high platform where he had just been standing.
The crowd had run far away and didn't know what they were saying, but they were certain that they had seen Yin Xiu kill the diviner.
He tossed the diviner onto the high platform, then faced the chaos in all directions of the Forgotten City and shouted, "Residents of the Forgotten City, today is just a brief meeting! I will come back to you at this time tomorrow!"
"But tomorrow, I will kill everyone in your Forgotten City! Including your gods. May you have a pleasant last night."
"See you tomorrow." After saying this, Yin Xiu turned and walked down from the platform. Given the current situation, he couldn't stay in the city, so he turned and walked out of the city.
Only after Yin Xiu left did the residents dare to peek out. His voice was very clear in the quiet Forgotten City, and even those who hadn't heard it soon learned of it due to the spread of fear.
A monster has come to the Forgotten City. This monster is capable of killing gods, and he not only wants to kill the gods, but also everyone in the Forgotten City.
The inhabitants of the Forgotten City are helpless. The old gods who could lead them have been killed, and the diviners are dead. They can only rely on the new gods who occasionally descend upon the city. Now, everyone in the city has no other choice.
The new god is their only hope.
