"S… sir? Would you like to have a tour of the gym?"
Max stared at the system pop-up. The reward was unexpectedly good. He dismissed the panel when he heard the receptionist speak. Although he had been looking at the system panel, the receptionist thought he was staring at her.
"No, I will leave for today. I'll come back in two days."
Shaking his head, he responded and then walked out of the building. It was almost lunchtime, and he felt hungry. The small breakfast he had with the girls was far from enough to fill his stomach.
When he reached the road, a pleasant smell reached his nose. It felt like someone was roasting meat. Seeing that it was 12:54 PM, he decided to eat meat for lunch. He didn't want to cook pasta back at home, and he was short on utensils to eat it anyway.
He followed his nose. The roads here were very clean, with no neon signs hanging outside to attract guests. It felt like the people who lived and did business here knew exactly what they were doing.
Soon, he reached a small two-story restaurant. The sign was made of dark iron and read 'Eisen & Stein Steaks.' It was hidden in the corner of the street, so Max understood that this place wasn't meant to be advertised. They weren't even trying to sell.
The smell of meat made his stomach growl, and he walked inside slowly. The white walls of the restaurant had small, soft lights hanging from them. Even though it was daytime, the lighting somehow suited the place.
Opening the glass door and stepping inside gave him a pleasant surprise. The restaurant was full of people. There was barely any loud noise, yet everyone was talking. Middle-aged couples, men in expensive-looking suits, older female friends—no one was yelling. Three or four waitresses, wearing black suits with red skirts, glided around with food trays in their hands.
Is this what people call classy? No, this is classy.
"Hello, sir. How many people?"
"Just me."
"Please follow me."
A waitress approached as he looked around. After asking a simple question, she smiled and asked Max to follow her. She led him to a small table where two people could sit comfortably. It was one of the smallest tables they had.
"Here is our menu. If it's your first time here, you may ask me anything."
Max took the menu from her hand. It was made of wood and felt heavy. Even the menu screamed luxury. She stood by his side when he gestured for her to wait a moment.
"It's my first time here. Can you suggest something?"
"Of course, sir. I'd recommend my favorite—dry-aged Bavarian beef ribeye. It's 350 grams, with grilled vegetables on the side."
She smiled and pointed at the item she would choose herself. She didn't hesitate even for a second.
"That sounds perfect."
"Would you like to have some alcohol with it?"
"No, no alcohol."
"Got it. I'll do the steak medium rare and add sparkling water. Is that all, sir?"
"Yeah, that's all."
Max didn't really know what she was saying, as this was his first time eating steak. The waitress seemed to understand his situation, so she smoothly guided him into ordering what he would enjoy.
"Thank you. It will take about fifteen minutes for our chefs to prepare your food. In the meantime, I will serve you some French fries."
The waitress left with a slight smile on her face. Max sat there. He wanted to check the system rewards, but a passive reward was dangerous. Last time, he had received a passive reward, and if he had collected it in public, he would have died of shame.
Now that I think about it, two rewards actually sound awesome.
He munched on the crispy French fries with a smile. They were complimentary. He didn't know that an expensive-looking restaurant like this would serve free food. Then he pulled out his phone and started reading a web novel. It was his way of enjoying life.
What the hell is this book? Lust System? Breeding her mother?
Seeing the sheer amount of porn and harem novels online, Max felt a little jealous. Those main characters were always surrounded by girls who wanted to do it with him. He glanced around briefly, then, with a composed face, opened the breeding novel with grace.
When the food arrived, Max saw a slab of pure meat with steam rising from it. It looked juicy, and the water the waitress served was bubbly. He followed the etiquette he saw beside him and took his first bite. The butter and meat flavors felt like they were made for each other.
T… this is delicious.
He finished the meat in about ten minutes, drinking the water that tasted like plain soda, and then asked for the bill.
"Sir, your total is €86. We take both card and cash."
"I'll pay with cash, and please keep the change. Thank you for helping me out."
"Thank you, sir. I was happy to help."
After paying the waitress, Max didn't wait around anymore. He wanted to go home and collect the rewards. He wanted to see what kind of reward an S+ passing grade would bring him, so he took a taxi once again.
Giving the driver €20, he reached home. He then sat down on the couch and opened the reward pop-up once again.

Max pressed the get rewards button with anticipation. The soft keyboard sound the transparent panel made always gave him a sense of satisfaction. Two rewards from a side mission were pretty good, and so far, a little unique.
