Chapter 20 - Resource

Although its head had been chopped off, the skull on the ground did not stop cursing; clearly, it hadn't completely died yet.

Upon hearing this, Rhodes nodded. As the saying goes!

If you cut the grass but don't pull out the roots, it will grow again with the spring breeze. If he didn't kill this guy now, should he wait for him to recover later and come back for revenge?

Moreover, Rhodes wanted to see what kind of reward he would get for slaying a hero-level unit. This Lich named Kharis was certainly not an ordinary minion.

"Master! I will go and retrieve his phylactery now, but he might summon his troops to rescue him, so we need to release our soldiers." Straker said.

"I understand. I will handle his Undead army. Apply an attack speed boost to my Undead troops, and then hurry up and go." After Rhodes finished speaking, he immediately released his over 400 Skeleton Soldier, and a dense Undead army instantly appeared before him.

Straker nodded upon hearing this, cast the attack speed magic on the over 400 Skeleton Soldier, immediately mounted his skeletal warhorse, and galloped into the distance.

Relying on the Death Knight's aura sensing ability, he could clearly perceive that the Lich's phylactery was hidden within an Undead base ahead.

"You can actually control the Undead? You have also practiced Necromancy!

Why don't you join the Scourge? The great Master will grant you unimaginable benefits." At this moment, the Lich's skull on the ground immediately tried to entice Rhodes.

He had originally thought the opponent was just a human mage, but he never expected him to be a master researcher of necromantic spells, capable of controlling such a large number of Undead creatures.

If this intelligence were known to the Lich King!

This mage, who could control the Undead, would surely choose to submit once he witnessed the Lich King's great power and supreme magic.

After all, those who study death magic are actually very afraid of dying; they all want to transform into Liches. In Kharis' view, an Undead mage who doesn't want to become a Lich is not a good mage.

"Oh, really? Your Master possesses unimaginable spells. Just how powerful is he?" Rhodes rolled his eyes and asked.

Both sides were stalling for time. Rhodes wanted to stall, and the Lich wanted to stall as well!

At this moment, the Undead army attacking the main gate of Hearthglen suddenly changed direction and headed toward Rhodes. At the same time, a portion of the Undead from the Undead base also approached this way.

The human defenders had no idea what was happening, assuming only that they had repelled the Undead attack!

"The Master controls necromantic magic that you cannot even imagine. He is a god-like existence, and his mental will can cover every servant. As long as you are willing, the gates of the Scourge will be open for you." Kharis tried to entice Rhodes with some information about the Lich King but did not elaborate too specifically!

"Did that mage named Kel'Thuzad previously say that the master of your Scourge is Mal'Ganis?" Rhodes asked.

"That's right, it is Lord Mal'Ganis. He is a powerful Dreadlord." Kharis was very cautious and completely avoided revealing any information about the Lich King.

"It looks like you don't have much sincerity. I can tell that you haven't told me the truth at all," Rhodes said with a playful expression.

"You don't have much sincerity either, do you?"

The Undead army had arrived. Rhodes snorted coldly and immediately cast Shield of Protection and Stone Skin on his Skeleton Soldier squad.

Both sides skipped the pleasantries and immediately engaged in melee combat. Although Rhodes' Skeleton Soldier looked crude—just piles of white bones holding iron swords—their combat power left the Lich Kharis dumbfounded.

Their fighting ability was far stronger than ordinary Skeleton Soldier, even capable of inflicting effective damage on the Abominations. Moreover, their defense was ridiculously high, and their speed was extremely fast.

With three beneficial spells active, the combat power unleashed by these Skeleton Soldier far exceeded normal imagination.

The scene that should have been a complete rout did not appear in Kharis' eyes; instead, it was his own army that was being cut down.

Rhodes even used Holy Light Flash directly to strike a gigantic Abomination. After one Holy Light Flash, the Abomination would lie on the ground howling, only to be hacked to death by the swarming Skeleton Soldier.

A dozen minutes later, more than half of the opposing Undead legion was annihilated, while Rhodes' Skeleton Soldier only lost over 100 units. The scales of victory began to tip!

The Lich Kharis looked utterly bewildered. He truly couldn't figure out how Rhodes had manufactured these kinds of Skeleton Soldier.

These Skeleton Soldier looked tattered, yet their fighting power far exceeded his imagination. At this point, all the Abominations had been used up, and the remaining Zombies, Ghouls, and Skeletons clearly were no match for them.

Just then, a sound of hooves came from the distance, and Straker Rhodes in, holding a blue urn.

Upon seeing the blue urn, the soul fire in the Lich Kharis' eyes suddenly flared fiercely. The thing he feared most had finally come to pass.

Damn it, how did this Undead Knight find his phylactery?

"Master! I have brought his phylactery. As long as the soul inside is destroyed, he is finished." Straker handed the Lich's phylactery to Rhodes.

"No! Wait, don't kill me, don't kill me." The Lich Kharis began to beg for mercy.

But Rhodes completely ignored his pleas. He and the Scourge were mortal enemies, and he would never submit to the Lich King.

"Straker, lead the Undead army. Release your Zombies too, and clean up this area.

I will take care of this Lich." Rhodes said.

Straker nodded, released the over 30 Zombies from his troop formation, and led the remaining over 300 Skeleton Soldier to begin clearing the remaining Undead units on the field.

Rhodes, meanwhile, struck the Lich's phylactery with a Holy Light Flash.

"No! Ah!!" The Lich's skull let out a miserable shriek, and then began to shatter.

At the same time, a transparent soul drifted out of the phylactery and was burned to ashes by the powerful Holy Light.

Almost simultaneously, Straker led Rhodes' Undead army and annihilated the Lich's forces.

A glorious victory! You and the hero Straker each gained 1,200 experience points. Your level has increased to 4, and Straker's level has increased to 2.

Congratulations! You have killed a hero unit!

Special reward unlocked! Random Wilderness Resource Summon.

Random Resource Unit? Is this an unexpected surprise?

Rhodes immediately checked the reward for slaying the hero unit.

Random Wilderness Location: A wilderness resource can be placed outside your city.

This could be a building that increases hero attributes, a camp for a certain wilderness unit type, a monster treasure trove, a resource mine, various random resources, or even a random artifact.
