Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Ascending to the Next Tier

The moment I reached the stage where I could begin designing the system's interface on my computer, something inside me shifted. I wasn't an expert by any means, but I had an odd fascination with digital UI design.

I added a faint blue tint over a semi-transparent background—clean, modern, easy on the eyes.

While organizing the descriptions, I kept everything as simple as possible. The resulting interface consisted of several core sections: cards displaying the Retans a user possessed, options to request new Retans, and a basic profile view.

After a few final lines of code, I fully personalized the system.

Next came the difficult part—duplicating the badges and improving their design. In my vision, these wearable badges would display icons of the user's Retans on a curved screen on the front. Inside, a microscopic sensor would perform an eye-scan to handle authentication.

It served two purposes at once: a digital ID… and a symbol of the user's power.

Combining both functions in a single device satisfied me deeply. Practical, aesthetic, and perfectly aligned with the spirit of the system.

Despite all the progress I had made, I still couldn't mass-produce complex devices using code alone. So I began searching online for someone who could manufacture the badges.I found several candidates, but their work didn't match my vision. After wasting time, I finally found someone capable.

We reached an agreement: he would produce one thousand badges within six months. It wasn't much, but with the money I would earn later, I could hire additional manufacturers and shorten the delivery time.

All that was left was to wait.

During that time, I focused heavily on security. An entire month went into building defenses.

It was around then that I officially named the coded language that allowed me to manipulate reality:

Retacode.

Using Retacode, I created defensive mechanisms against forced entry attempts—measures that could immobilize an intruder if necessary.

To hide my identity as the founder, I modified my profile to look exactly like that of a normal user.

I was still only at the beginning of my path. I continued developing new Retans while running countless experiments to better understand the logic behind Retacode.

By the end of a month, I had created eight new Retans. Each served a different purpose and came with its own strengths and limitations.

Among them was a special short-range shock ability intended for security personnel. If the system was going to be part of the world, it needed balance.

Only five months remained before the badges were ready. In that time, I had to bring the system to a level where it could be introduced to the public.

Every day, I became more skilled with Retacode.Working with complex algorithm chains became second nature, even if a combination of thousands of symbols produced only a single function. But I had grown used to the difficulty—in fact, I enjoyed it.

My classmates found it strange that I brought my laptop to school every day. To them, it was nothing more than a gaming device. My family, however, was pleased. My grades were good, and spending more time at home reassured them.

Time passed quickly. School ended, and summer vacation began. Which meant one thing:

I had far more time for my experiments.

I needed larger testing grounds, so I decided to travel to our family's village house. My family found it odd, but I convinced them. I planned to stay there for three months—and I knew it would be the most productive period of my life.

The trees in the forest were perfect test subjects for large-scale abilities I had been planning.I tried shaping them, manipulating them, even turning some into temporary weapons. I studied the movements of animals—birds gliding above the sky, moles disappearing underground, fish slicing through water—each creature following its own remarkable algorithm.

I used their natural behaviors as models and converted them into parts of the system.
