Chapter 3: Kidnapping the Great Scientist
Bang!
The gunshot echoed throughout the entire room.
A moment of silence appeared inside the room, before the chaos began.
All the audience whom had been glued to the stage suddenly erupted into screams and shouts of panic.
The iron limbed and exoskeleton equipped guards, who had been momentiraly surprised by the assassination attempt, had now quickly regained their bearings, already on full alert searching the room.
The ones equipped with the highest grade of exoskeletons were already sorrounding the injured Governor Archibald Wenshire, in a protective circle, preparing to evacuate him.
At the same time other guards were already approaching Dr. Chucks who was standing near the priceless Second Generation Machine, preparing to also evacuate him and the accessory machine.
While the crowd was panicking and the armoured guards were checking the entire room already looking for the culprit, they saw a figure who was appearing calm despite the situation.
The figure was clad in dark sneakers, black bottom tracksuit with a dark hoodie to match.
His face was covered with a ridiculous bunny face mask, that had its mouth curling upwards.
And on his right hand he was holding a black hand gun that was meticulously concealed with his hoodie sleeves.
The man seemed to be stuck in a stupor as his gaze was directed at one of the panicking crowds who were located close to the stage.
As soon as the guards locked on to the figure, they instantly regarded him as the shooter and were already about to act.
But before they could move, the man who was dazedly in a shock, suddenly broke off from his stupor.
His material smiling bunny mask suddenly increased its creepy smile and before any of them could register anything he suddenly vanished.
At least this was what someone with an ordinary vision would have thought. But from the perceptive of the exoskeleton frame of the guards they saw a completely different scene.
Instead of seeing the culprit vanish, they saw him suddenly become a blur as he sprinted towards the stage.
The shooter moved fast, impossibly fast, his silhouette appearing only in the form of a blur to the vision detectors of the exoskeletons of the guards.
He moved in unnatural angles, perfoming snapping pivots with a momentum that didn't follow physics.
The guards, who were experienced in their job, were already acting.
They fired stun-rounds which produced sparks across the masked man's path but still failing to hit him.
It was like he could see where the bullets were going to land before they did, as he twisted between them like a marionette pulled by invisible strings everytime he was about to be struck.
In three breaths he was on the stage.
And In the fourth, he already had Dr. Chuck in a chokehold, an arm pressed tight beneath the scientist's jaw.
"Stay back!" the masked man shouted, voice heavily distorted implying that it was not a real voice but merely something altered.
"I'll break his neck!" He continued flatly.
The guards hesitated simply not willing to jeopardize the scientist's life whose life had already gained an extraordinary value ever since his invention.
Govenor Archibald Wenshire had already been escorted off the stage, and only the masked man, Dr. Cyrus V. Chucks and a few armoured guards were at the stage.
Dr. Chuck's eyes bulged with panic, as he desperately tried to escape the grip of the masked man.
The bunny faced man did not pay any mind to the scientist's futile attempts of escape and instead turned his gaze towards the plain silver face mask on the centre of the stage.
It seemed this was one of his sights and probably the reason why he was here.
The man suddenly began to move towards the item, easily dragging the helpless scientist along him.
The armored guards had already drawn their their standard power compression rifles and were already aiming at the masked man.
But they had yet to fire, in fear of harming the scientist who was being held hostage.
As the man moved, the scientist under his chocking grip suddenly did the one thing no one expected
The middle-aged scientist, suddenly swinged his leg at the Second Generation Machine seemingly not wishing to see his invention fall into the hands of the mysterious stranger.
The silver mask accessory machine tumbled from its raised stool , suddenly flying towards the crowd.
The object arced through the open space.
Turning, flashing and slicing through the air like a falling star.
In a second it suddenly landed at the feet of a young teenage boy who had retreated deep into the crowd, when the chaos started.
The masked man turned to study the boy who was near the Second Generation Machine.
The boy had short dark hair. Brown eyes and scholarly face. He was clad in a long grey coat and his hands were donned in structure dark gloves which carried both a mechanical and material fibre with them.
The masked man instantly recognized the boy.
He was the kid who had stared at him suspiciously at the beginning of the announcement making him worried that he had been caught.
And when he was attempting to assassinate the Govenor, he lined the boy in the trajectory angle lined with the Govenor, intending to also kill the boy who had gave him a scare for nothing.
But unexpectedly just a moment before he shot the gun, the kid had jumped away from his position as if he was aware that he was about to be shot from the back.
Such a scenario had somewhat left the masked man baffled.
And now here when he was about achieve his third objective of his mission, the powerful machine that his organization had casted their sights had suddenly slipped from his grasp landing towards the strange boy. Wasn't this too much of a coincidence.
"Could it be that, he is someone whose target is also the mask?" Thought the man with a grimm expression."
He was about to chase after machine when he suddenly heard an order from the earpiece on his left ear.
"Weaver, leave it. Just take the scientist and leave."
Hearing the order from his superior, Weaver could only reluctantly leave the matter of the mask.
He swept his gaze towards the guards who were still pointing power compression rifles at him.
He then directed his gaze towards the windows at high end rooftops, judging that there was probably a few snipers pointing at him.
Shacking his head, the man suddenly brought the scientist who had lost consciousness from the chocking at some time ago, to his shoulders.
At the same time he raised his hand up and a drone suddenly broke off from the roof descending towards his position.
The moment the drone appeared severeral compressed bullets suddenly fired against it, but it remained unscathed simply descending towards the masked man.
As the drone descended it then latched onto the masked man, lifting him and the captured scientist into the air.
As they ascended, the attacker dropped a small metal object to the ground.
Beep. Beep . Beep.
The item sizzled with blue electricity and exploded.
An electric shockwave suddenly exploded outward sending everything flying.
A second later an incinerating heat spread outwards destroying everything.
