Neria did not answer immediately when Ravon asked what she wanted.
For once—truly for once—she had nothing to say.
Her mouth opened slightly, then closed again, her thoughts scrambling over each other in complete disarray as she stood there, caught between embarrassment, confusion, and the very inconvenient awareness that she had just walked into a man's room at the worst possible moment.
"I…" she started, then immediately stopped, dragging her gaze away from him and fixing it somewhere very safe...like the wall.
"I came to say thank you," she finished quickly, her words tumbling out in a rush as if speed alone could save her dignity.
Silence followed.
She risked a glance back at him.
Ravon had not moved much, but the way he looked at her now was sharper, more deliberate, as though he was reassessing something he already understood.
"You did not need to," he said.
His tone was flat, dismissive.
Neria blinked.
"…Right," she said slowly, unsure what she had expected.
