The next morning, Elena still hadn't woken up.
Simon arrived at the hospital at dawn. The moment he saw his unconscious boss, he burst into tears, sobbing so hard that anyone passing by would've thought he'd lost a loved one.
"She's not dead," Lu Zihao said flatly. "Don't cry like that. It's bad luck."
Simon froze mid-sob, staring at him in stunned silence. A moment later, a nurse came to fetch Lu Zihao for his scheduled check-up in the same hospital.
Not long after, Zhang Tengfei arrived with Yang Jiahui and Yang Xia. Yang Xia immediately sat beside Simon, quietly patting his back.
"What happened?" Zhang Tengfei asked Jin Di.
Jin Di looked terrible. His eyes were bloodshot, dark circles heavy beneath them. His hair was disheveled, his clothes wrinkled. He explained how Elena collapsed while they were visiting his friends.
"I'm sorry," he said quietly. "I didn't take care of her."
