When he came downstairs later, freshly showered and dressed, the rich aroma of coffee greeted him.
"There you are, my boy!" Grandpa Lu boomed from beside the coffee maker. "Good morning! You look much better today. Very good!"
"Good morning, Grandpa Lu," Jin Di replied politely. "Yes, I feel much better."
"I'll say." The old man shot him a knowing look. "I was thinking of asking you to go for a jog with me. Cold mornings are perfect for it. But it seems you already had quite the… workout."
The tips of Jin Di's ears reddened, though his expression remained composed.
"Just so you know," Grandpa Lu continued cheerfully, "this chalet is not soundproof."
Jin Di cleared his throat and calmly poured them both coffee, choosing not to respond.
Grandpa Lu laughed loudly but, mercifully, didn't push the teasing any further.
