Blake. My Blake. Ithquent, why must you make me fall in love with a Fae? I watched her braid her platinum hair into a crown, her fingers fumbling but successfully making the braid. Her light purple eyes stared into her reflection and finally she looked towards me with a soft smile traveling across her face. Beautiful. I came into her room to get her for the High Faes.
"What are you looking at?" Blake finished with a pin in her hair fixing it in place.
"The Moon."
She rolled her eyes before getting up and sitting down on her bed, "What are we doing today?"
I grab her hand and hold it in mine, "Well, we have to go talk to the High Faes today. They wanted to talk to us."
"Can't imagine why." She muttered.
She knows something, "What do you mean?"
Blake shrugged her shoulders and flatly said, "Well, the whole incident that happened last week. Probably want to see what happened."
Hmm. We got up from her bed and we exited her room making our way to the large round building that sat in the center of the College. Opening the door for her we began to ascend the flight of stairs. It took us two flights of stairs and it brought us to the High Faes office for the College. The stairs continue up to the floating island from above and it seems to never end. I knocked on the door, and it slowly opened. Inside sat Alec and Ashley Samhradh and they did not look happy.
"Hello Blake and Lyle, please sit," he gestured to the two chairs in front of their dark wooden desk, "we have something to discuss." We sat in the chairs across from them and Alec looked between us, "So, I heard the trial went well. Well for Lyle I mean."
"I fatally hurt her. You can't put that against her," I pushed back. She has to come with me to the next island. I wouldn't be there without her.
"I can, but that's not what I'm here for. Blake, I heard you also did okay. Although, the spear you made is quite impressive, and it was enough to let you pass to the next trial. But, you have to try harder than that. Magic is a strong suit for you, but the physical aspect of the trial and the next trial is your downfall. Don't disappoint me, okay?"
She was quiet and with a nod she looked down to her lap fiddling with her fingers. She must be nervous, "Then what do you want, Alec?" I said coolly.
He grinned and leaned forward, Ashley stayed still like a statue, "Well, I've heard a rumor."
"A rumor? What are we? Adolescents?" This is starting to annoy me.
"Rumor has it you two," he points a finger between me and Blake, "are together. Are you?"
Blake looks at me and does a curt nod, "Yes, sir. We are," she says without looking at him.
"What gives you the right to be with this Fae?" Alec's face started turning red with the rise of anger in his voice.
"Not just "be" with her, Alec," I say flatly, "courting. I am courting her."
He sat back in his chair and looked between us, "You mean to tell me you intend to marry this Fae and bring forth children?"
"Yes. It would be good for us to show good relations between the two Kingdoms," my voice was rather nonchalant. He needs to know this is purely just as a business negotiation rather than me being actually in love with her, "You know as well as I do Alec that the unrest in Endorskarr is a little out of hand."
Alec growled and stood up slamming his hand on the desk causing the parchment and quills to startle, "Whose fault is that? Certainly not us. Your father needs to control his Kingdom. And what gives you the right to make a decision for my Kingdom?"
I tilt my head with a smirk, almost taunting him, "I thought that was your job? Considering you guys have your boots on our necks."
Alec is simmering and he leaned down towards me, his teeth clenched, "Get the hell out, Lyle," spit flew from his mouth towards me.
Shrugging my shoulders I get up and hold my hand out for Blake and she grabs it getting up from the chair, "Well, Alec, seems like you're on board. Great to see you, see you in a month!"
That conversation could have gone better, but it also could have gone worse. It was approaching nighttime and the candles that lit the stairwell burst to light. The flames went from bright orange to a deep blue and settled, the flames twinkled against the stone. I have to meet Liam again. It's about time.
"Princess, I have to go do something. I'll be back, alright?" She nods and goes off to our wing until Addison jogs up to her and pulls her aside. Interesting.
It was one thing after another lately ever since we got on this island. Walking out of the college I went towards the left to where the beach was that I met up with Liam at. Thank Ithquent it's dark outside. Getting there quickly I move to where a log is on the side and grab a hooded cloak out of it and shrug it on. This is so cliche. Liam paddled up to shore and quickly exited the boat.
"Brother," he wraps his arms around me and hugs me. He's scared to say my actual name and why is that? "How goes it?"
"Fine. We're passing to the next trials so this will be our last meeting as we go up to the second island. Is everything going well at home?"
He shrugged looking around slowly with his eyes, "Could be better. Your father is still grumpy and making everyone else's life hell. We've been slowly taking care of the rebellion. Killing anyone who is conspiring against the King, but brother we have to hurry."
"I am trying. I can't hurry a process that's already set in stone."
His eyes snapped behind me, then he slowly settled his eyes on me, "Brother, the Dragons come here everyday in the same spot. Just talk to one of them by yourself."
By myself? "Surely I'd be blown into flames."
"They know what they're doing."
I sigh, there's nothing I can say that will change this guy's mind, "I'll try. We leave for the next island in two days. I'll see if I can snag one of them tomorrow. I highly, highly doubt it since it's so early but I can see."
"Good. I must go," he turns and heads back towards the boat then stops and with a whisper, "by the way, they're watching us. Be careful."
He gets into the boat and paddles away from the shore. Great. Now someone's watching and I can't turn around or I show my whole face and then I'll most likely die for "treason" or by getting stabbed. Great. Sinking my heel into the sand I reach to the Earth for a sense of vibration or feeling from whoever could be behind me. Feeling a tension aways out, most likely in the grassy area, I let out a breath of relief. Okay, I'm going to have to knock them out, but should I wait until they get closer and use physical strength or should I hope that I can use the Earth from around twenty feet away and do it that way. Hmmm…
The Earth beneath started growing tenser as the feeling inched towards me. Well, that answers that question. The ground under my feet sends a scream to my senses and I whip around just in time to see a sword coming to strike me down. Hunkering my body down, I dodge to the right. Opening my palm and calling forth the Earth I clench my fists, opening a hole in the ground. Recovering from my dodge, I dig my heels into the ground and sprint towards the hole and find a pair of hands grappling onto the edge. And wouldn't you know who it was? Knox. I'm sure he can get up from there. Taking my cloak with me I ran back towards the College.
