Volume 3 — Chapter 11: Web of Betrayal
The victory at Eldara was short-lived. Scouts returned with alarming intelligence: the council had infiltrated multiple rebel factions, sowing discord and turning allies against each other.
Lyriana gathered her closest commanders. "They are attacking us not just with armies, but with fear, lies, and deception. Every alliance must be tested—and every heart proven true."
Aryn's hand found hers, energy from the Moonstone faintly flaring. "We've faced illusions before. We've faced betrayal. Together, we can see through any scheme."
Elion approached, grim. "The council's ultimate strategy involves both the relics and your bond. They've discovered a way to weaken the Moonstone's power—if trust between you falters, the consequences could be catastrophic."
As the rebels prepared for internal sabotage, Lady Seraphine returned, her face conflicted. "Lyriana… Aryn… I was deceived. Some of my own forces were compromised. I can help you, but the council's plan runs deeper than we imagined."
Lyriana studied her closely. "Trust is earned by actions, not words. Will you stand with us now?"
Seraphine nodded, her hand over her heart. "I stand with truth."
Meanwhile, shadowy figures infiltrated the camp under cover of night, targeting the relics directly. Lyriana and Aryn combined their powers to create protective barriers, but the council's magic was designed to exploit hesitation, fear, and doubt.
As the night wore on, visions attempted to fracture their bond—Aryn saw a future where Lyriana fell in battle; Lyriana witnessed Aryn tempted to surrender the Moonstone to save lives. Both resisted, clinging to their trust in each other.
Finally, with the council's agents repelled, Lyriana addressed the assembled forces. "The council believes they can divide us. But our unity, our bond, and our courage are stronger than any magic or deception. This war will test everything—but we will survive, together."
Aryn squeezed her hand. "Always together. And now, we prepare. Their next move will come, but we face it as one."
The Moonstone and relics pulsed in response, as if affirming their resolve. Yet in the shadows, the council's most dangerous scheme was already set into motion—one that could change Arvandor forever.
