Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

On the morning of his third day in this different world, Sora woke up early as usual. He twisted his stiff neck while sitting on the back of the chair, thinking that he should either ask Louise for an extra bed—or just sleep on the same bed with her. Either way, it didn't feel very comfortable.

He headed down to the dormitory. After finishing his morning jog, Sora hurried back. Louise was still sleeping, lying peacefully with a serene expression.

Sora walked over to the bed and pinched her nose.

After a moment, Louise blushed and shifted uncomfortably. Finally, she sat up, exhaling, "Ha…"

"What are you doing? This is so uncomfortable," Louise said, glaring at him.

"It's time to get up, Louise. You need to prepare breakfast for me today, since you already bothered Chuluk and the cafeteria staff yesterday," Sora said lightly.

"All right, I'll take you there," Louise replied. She lifted the quilt, swung her legs over the edge of the bed, and stretched.

"Help me get dressed, familiar," she ordered.

Sora narrowed his eyes and smirked coldly. "Ordering me around, are you, Louise?"

Louise shuddered, remembering that this wasn't an ordinary familiar—he could disobey his master. Still, she argued, "Nobles don't change clothes in front of their servants. You—you're not my familiar, are you really going to learn my family's methods?"

Sora paused, then gave a lewd grin. "Then I won't be polite."

Louise froze as he reached for her clothes. Under the morning sun, her delicate, fair skin was fully exposed, tinged with a charming blush.

Sora unabashedly took in the view, then helped pull up her pajama pants. When only her underwear remained, Louise shrank back on the bed, hugging her chest, exclaiming, "Ah! I don't need your help—hurry up and go away!"

"That's not allowed—I'm your familiar," Sora said with a triumphant smile. But he didn't continue. Instead, he went to the closet, found a set of underwear, and tossed it onto the bed. "Next, you can put it on yourself."

Then he sat back in his chair and closed his eyes.

"Okay, okay," Louise muttered softly.

Sora opened his eyes. Though he was still in his school uniform, he enjoyed the sight of Louise's shy blush. "All right, let's go have breakfast."

Sora and Louise left the dormitory together. Along the way, other students watched curiously—not only at Louise, but at Sora as well.

In the hall on the first floor of the teaching building, they took two seats at a long table in the middle. Students arrived one after another. Chuluk came a little later and sat in the seat next to Sora, chatting and teasing him, much to Louise's annoyance.

A petite girl with bright blue eyes and matching hair quietly entered and sat beside Chuluk.

Chuluk introduced her, "This is my good friend, Tabasa. And this is my… disciple, Sora."

Tabasa nodded politely at him.

Sora smiled. "Hello, Tabasa." Another high-quality beautiful girl, he thought. Three none? Not bad.

After a while, following the principal's lead, all the students closed their eyes and folded their hands to pray.

"Great Ancestor Brin Milu and Your Majesty the Queen, thank you for giving us this humble food today."

Sora mimicked them, and then breakfast began. Compared to the cafeteria fare yesterday, today's spread was far richer: steaks, fruits, and more. Sora ate heartily, leaving Louise and the others stunned.

"He eats like a demon," someone whispered."Doesn't Louise teach him manners?""Zero Louise's familiar is something else entirely."

Blushing, Louise kept her head down.

"What's wrong, Louise?" Sora asked, noticing her lack of appetite.

"Uh… familiar—no, Sora, pay attention to your eating. You're losing all the dignity of the Valier family," she whispered.

"Can dignity fill a stomach? But since you're watching, I'll try to be a little careful." Sora slowed down, still eating well, but not like an unstoppable beast anymore.

Louise cut her portion quietly, embarrassed to the core. Chuluk chuckled. "Not bad, Sora. A man just wants to eat and drink heartily. Can you drink? I'll take you to the tavern someday."

Tabasa ate little and picked up a book to read at her seat.

After breakfast, they rested in the square before heading to the classroom on the second floor with Chuluk and Louise.

The instructor was a plump woman, said to be a triangle-level magician skilled in earth magic. Her name was Hugh Bruce.

"Water, fire, earth, and wind magic can be combined for greater effects, producing new results. The level of a magician is determined by how many systems they can combine. What are those levels?" she asked.

Sora raised his hand. Surrounding students and professors were surprised—a familiar answering a question? Louise tugged at his sleeve under the table.

"What are you doing? Put your hand down!"

Sora ignored her.

The professor smiled. "Well, let the familiar answer, then."

Sora stood. "Professor Hugh Bruce, my name is Sora. Please remember it. Magicians have different levels: those who can use one system are point-level, two systems are line-level, three are triangle-level, four are square-level."

The professor was impressed. "Very good."

Sora didn't sit down. "I noticed everyone wears a pentagram on their chest, and familiar contracts involve the power of the five-element pentagram. Does that mean there could be a fifth-level magician who uses all five systems, Professor Hugh Bruce?"

The room buzzed. Even the professor seemed caught off guard. He wiped his face and said, embarrassed, "Uh… today's class isn't about that. Familiar… ah, student Sora, please sit down first."

Sora sat, and the glances of those around him now carried respect and curiosity.

For the rest of the day, Sora paid close attention in class. Unlike other students, who had been raised in magical education, he had only started interacting with magic two days ago. The lessons mostly mirrored what he had learned from Chuluk and Louise.

By the end of the day, many teachers had learned about Sora the familiar. He was active in answering questions and attentive in class, occasionally asking questions even the professors struggled to answer. Yet such a diligent student was generally welcomed by the faculty.
