Irina's POV
"Irina, were today's patients difficult to treat?" Sue asked.
"Not really," I answered, snatching the tart from Seth's grip and taking a bite, my words coming out garbled. "Just way too many of them."
I'd handled three cases today.
Seth started bouncing around like a maniac after I grabbed his tart. Vera, panicking that he'd demolish the house, quickly shoved another one at him. "Easy there. Here, take this."
Seth's face lit up instantly, and he went back to chomping on his treat.
I settled into my chair slowly and grabbed a napkin to clean my fingers. "What's got Seth so hyped up today?"
'Over a stupid pastry?' I wondered.
"He scored big at a contest," Sue said, grinning. "There was this lottery thing at the street corner this afternoon - kids under ten only. I brought Seth along to try his luck, and damn, he cleaned up."
