Chapter 64 - WATCHING HER

CHAPTER 64

"If you decide not to stop, then I'll come after you at all cost," Carlos said, hanging up.

William roared in frustration, kicking and punching the walls like they were the offender.

---

The next day, William couldn't sleep. He was calling Kate's number and her company, her friend Tina, and her assistant Joyce.

He was pacing the room when he heard a knock on the door.

"Kate!" he called, thinking she was the one.

He opened the door and saw Jeremy standing there. His face dropped when he realized it wasn't the person he was expecting.

"What are you doing here? Do you have any clue about her whereabouts?" he asked, stepping aside to let him in.

"Yes. I found one," Jeremy replied, placing his laptop on the couch.

"What did you find out? Is it her location?" William asked, curiosity laced in his voice.

"I'm not sure, but I noticed some unusual movement from Carlos' men. They were going into an abandoned warehouse in the countryside two days ago," Jeremy explained.

"And now what?" William asked. "What did you find out next?"

"I tracked one of Carlos' men. He's living close to the Greensville Hotel," Jeremy finally said.

"Then what are you waiting for?" William asked, his voice cold.

"I'm waiting for him to make a move."

"Till when?"

"Until they start heading back to the warehouse."

"Do you think Carlos isn't fully prepared? What if he played you and the location isn't even in the countryside? What will you do?"

"I'm sorry. What do you suggest I do?"

"You shouldn't be asking me that. You should know what's next."

"Okay... Let me track the exact location of Carlos' men," Jeremy said, turning to his laptop, typing codes earnestly.

A few minutes later, it felt like heaven was on their side. They got the house location, name, and picture of one of Carlos' men within minutes.

---

A huge-built young man was sleeping soundly on the sofa when the door burst open. He bolted upright like lightning.

William's men stormed into the apartment. The man, sensing danger, dashed to grab a gun but was immediately knocked down by William's men.

He groaned in pain on the ground. William bent down, facing him. He pulled him up roughly.

"Where is she?" William demanded, his voice sending a cold shiver down the man's spine.

"Who are you talking about?" the guy asked, feigning ignorance.

"Don't make me repeat myself," William warned.

"I really don't know," the guy pressed again.

"Looks like you think I'm here for fun," William scoffed, clearing his throat.

"Please, I really don't know!" the guy sobbed. He suddenly remembered when Kate had warned them that her husband wouldn't go easy on them if he got his hands on them.

He started to wonder—is this the man she was talking about?

It now dawned on him that Kate hadn't been lying. They had underestimated her badly. He realized why Carlos never described Kate's husband to them.

William shoved him back to the ground. He stood up and stretched his hand backward—one of his men quickly handed him a bat. He grabbed it gracefully.

"Since you ain't gonna talk, then you're gonna start seeing stars," William said, tapping the bat gently against his palm. "Then you'll voice out."

He lifted the bat, aiming for his head. Just as he was about to swing—

"I'm gonna talk! Please don't kill me!" the guy cried. "I'll take you to the warehouse in the countryside."

"Good! You really know how to cooperate. If you work with my men, you'll be paid well—and you won't even have to do dirty work to earn money."

"Thank you, sir," he stammered.

"Now stand up. Take me to the warehouse—now!" William roared.

---

Meanwhile…

Kate opened her eyes gently. Her vision was blurry but soon returned to normal. She looked around and spotted two men in the warehouse with her.

A stunned look appeared on her face.

There were three before... now only two?

The two men were whispering amongst themselves. Suddenly, they turned to her, walking toward her with deadly glances.

She wriggled on the chair. "Let me go! Don't come closer!" she screamed.

One of them unsheathed a knife, holding it up in a stabbing stance, grinning widely as he advanced.

He stood in front of her, raising the knife to stab her. The blade was just inches from her throat—

When the door burst open.

William stepped in, his cold demeanor casting a deadly aura across the room.

His aura screamed NO MERCY.

He sprinted toward her, knocking down the man with the knife and punching his face repeatedly. Blood splattered, and the man began convulsing.

If William hit him one more time, he might fall into a coma.

"Stop!" Kate screamed. "Please stop!"

He looked at her. She shook her head, silently begging him to stop.

William calmed down. He stood up and walked toward her, then gently pulled her into a tight hug.

"I've missed you," he whispered, his voice cracking.

"Me too," she replied softly.

"Let's go home," he said, lifting her gently in his arms.

The other man who tried to escape was caught and handed over to the police.

---

Later that night — at the Dray mansion.

After Kate had freshened up, she curled up in bed in her nightwear, wrapping herself in a blanket. William sat beside her, giving her a gentle head massage.

"Do you think it's still safe?" Kate asked curiously.

"What's that?" William asked, his brows knitting.

"You know, some things were brought down," she sighed. "But Donovan and my uncle are still out there. They're the only enemies left."

"Don't worry about them. They'll be taken care of," William assured her.

"I hope so," she murmured, still feeling like someone was watching her.
