"Shit, I have perfect aim now, don't I?"
Sharpest Shooter should already be in effect. The description had explicitly stated I could kill someone with a coin.
I knew there was a decent-sized pebble near my feet, so I reached down for it.
As I did, I idly noticed that I moved like a blind man, my eyes staring fixedly at some random spot in the distance while my hands did the work with perfect precision. That was a potentially useful piece of information to file away.
Armed with the pebble, I decided to test my new reality on a nearby lightbulb.
With my now-perfect sight, I spotted the bulb in a streetlight above me. It was currently off, seeing as it was morning.
Hmm. About… three and a half meters high, and about four meters away from me.
Balancing the pebble on the tip of my thumb, my hand ready to snap it forward as if I were flipping a coin, I consciously visualized my target.
…
I fired.
In a split second, the pebble launched from my thumb with the velocity of a fucking bullet. It traveled in a perfectly straight line, impacting the dead center of the glass.
CRACK.
The bulb shattered instantly, raining glass down onto the pavement.
…
"Oh yeah, I'm invincible now."
An ugly smirk ruined my already imperfect face. How could fucking ANYTHING stand against the impact of my laser-precision pebble, let alone my fucking GUN!?
I blinked. Right. I came here with equipment.
Thanks to Eyes Everywhere, I had already spotted the backpack lying inside the dumpster next to me, but I hadn't consciously thought to check its contents. One quick mental focus later, and I saw it all: an M1911, six 7-round magazines plus five stray bullets, a knife, and a wallet containing nothing but a plastic debit card and a small note scribbled in blue pen.
0734
If that wasn't the PIN for the card, then I wasn't homeless.
Quickly, I snatched the backpack from the dumpster, instinctively recoiling at the smell. Fucking hell, they couldn't have possibly left my starter gear in a worse place.
Stench aside, I single-mindedly reached for the most interesting item in the bag.
With a self-satisfied grin, I pulled out a brand-new, shining, deadly M1911. It felt magnificent and heavy in my hands.
Despite how useless the gesture was now that I had Eyes Everywhere, I closed my physical eyes in complete satisfaction, savoring the cold weight of the steel.
"This… This is PLEASURE."
As I stood there, stewing in my own juices, I felt… someone looking at me.
"T-That homeless guy has a gun!"
My grin dropped instantly.
Un-fucking-believable. Someone had spotted me just outside the range of Eyes Everywhere. Since they were behind me, I hadn't even caught them in the distance with my own two eyes.
Alright, so it seemed this apparent omniscience had a few flaws. That was fine. I could deal with that.
I turned toward the voice that had so rudely pointed me out.
A young man in a high school uniform stood there, looking at me with panic written all over his face as I faced him with a big piece of death in my hands.
To the surprise of absolutely nobody, I already had plenty of experience turning away nosy nobodies.
I leveled the gun at him.
"GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME OR I'LL FUCKING SHOOT!"
Situations like this were exactly why I didn't want the angel looking too deeply into my life.
The high schooler screamed in terror and fled the scene immediately.
Despite myself, another self-satisfied grin marred my face. Oh yeah, that was the stuff. Lead was my Lord, and I was merely its humble deliverer.
Having dealt with that asshole, I quickly concealed the weapon in my waistband.
Although it was fun threatening random passersby and potentially mugging them until they were in nothing but their undies, I had more important work to do. I had just been transported into HighSchool DxD—whatever that meant—and I needed to get the lay of the land.
Slowly, trying to get used to the sensory overload of my omniscient skill, I made my way out of the alleyway.
I stumbled out into the street and…
…
Shit. Is this the kind of education I missed by being poor?
In front of me stood what could only be described as a goddamn mansion fit for a Duke. Yet, like herds of cattle, numerous high schoolers, middle schoolers, and grade schoolers were filing into the damn thing.
However, it was quite noticeable that the gender disparity was heavily in favor of the women. There were very, very few men to count.
It seemed that I had met the titular… DxD.
…Awful name for a school, I had to say.
Similarly awful were the hundreds of stares suddenly fixed on me.
"There! That's the guy with the gun!"
Oh, shit. The consequences of my actions.
Without much ceremony, I spun on my heel and returned to the alleyway, deciding to check out this whole HighSchool DxD business at a later time. For now, well, I felt quite hungry after dying and getting reincarnated, and those nifty hundred bucks were burning a hole in my pocket.
….
You know, despite all the ominous laughter from YHWH and all the overpowered skills I bought, this world was disgustingly normal.
I spent the entire day (literally) watching my back and making sure nobody was following me or looking at me funny… but nothing happened.
There were some differences from my previous world. The most obvious one was that I was apparently in Japan, and thus everything was written in Japanese… and yet, everyone spoke in perfect, native, as-God-intended English. Maybe my reincarnation came with a free translator installed in my head? Who knew?
Aside from that, there was a… "difference," if you could call it that. Though, I wasn't sure if this was just some simple culture shock or if it was true evidence that I was inside another world.
Everyone kind of behaved… weirdly.
As in, cartoonishly weird.
Just today, as I was providing myself with a proper breakfast (at a fucking McDonald's, of course), I spotted some of this bizarre behavior outside the window.
People were walking by and talking to each other… while their eyes were closed.
They weren't blinking. They were actually holding full conversations, emphasizing their points, laughing, and navigating the street while smiling and keeping their eyes firmly shut.
It was unsettling.
