Chapter 11 - Chapter 11- Cursed Inheritance

Two weeks later...

Light's eyes slowly opened.

At first, he couldn't understand what he was looking at.

Everything was bright.

Too bright.

His vision blurred as if his eyes had forgotten how to see.

He tried moving his fingers.

Nothing.

His arms wouldn't respond.

His legs wouldn't respond either.

...What?

A strange feeling spread throughout his body.

He could feel himself.

But he couldn't control himself.

His eyes slowly moved around the room.

The unfamiliar ceiling.

The faint beeping somewhere nearby.

The cold smell of medicine filling his nose.

And then—

A figure entered his vision.

Light's eyes widened.

For a moment...

His brain couldn't process what he was seeing.

The sunlight pouring through the window surrounded the figure standing before him.

It created a halo.

A warm, blinding light.

Light stared silently.

...God?

His exhausted eyes struggled to focus.

The figure slowly became clearer.

Black hair.

A familiar face.

And a large smile.

Light's eyes widened even further.

...Father?

Daniel stood before him.

For those few seconds, Light genuinely believed he was looking at something divine.

The sunlight behind Daniel made him appear almost unreal.

Like some heavenly being standing before him.

But then his vision cleared.

It was Daniel.

His father.

Daniel was wearing hospital clothing.

His face looked pale.

Much paler than Light remembered.

His body also seemed thinner.

But his smile...

That ridiculous smile was still there.

Light wanted to say something.

He wanted to ask him what was happening.

He wanted to move.

He wanted to reach toward him.

But his body wouldn't listen.

Then—

Daniel's smile disappeared.

Light's eyes widened.

Daniel stumbled.

"Father...?"

No voice came out.

Light couldn't speak.

He couldn't even scream.

Daniel's body suddenly collapsed.

THUD!

Light's eyes trembled.

People rushed into the room.

Voices filled his ears.

Voices he had never heard before.

"Sir?!"

"Oh no!"

"Call the doctors!"

Light desperately tried to move.

Nothing.

His fingers didn't move.

His throat didn't make a sound.

All he could do...

Was watch.

Daniel was lifted from the floor.

Several hospital staff members surrounded him.

Light's vision became blurry again.

His consciousness was slowly fading.

But before his eyes completely closed...

He heard a voice.

"He was supposed to be resting!"

The voice sounded panicked.

Another person responded.

"It looks like he sneaked out to see his son!"

Light's eyes trembled.

Sneaked out...

To see me...?

His vision became darker.

Daniel was placed onto a stretcher.

Light watched helplessly as his father was taken away.

Father...

His eyes slowly closed again.

And the world disappeared.

Daniel was taken back to his room.

Several nurses surrounded him.

Machines monitored every change in his condition.

Every breath.

Every heartbeat.

Every movement.

The entire hospital was watching him closely.

Not only because Daniel was a famous martial artist.

But because of what had happened inside that hospital two weeks earlier.

The experiment.

A procedure that had never been successfully performed before.

Daniel had willingly risked his life for his son.

And now...

The doctors had two lives in their hands.

If Daniel survived...

And Light survived...

It would change everything.

But survival wasn't guaranteed.

Not yet.

Daniel remained unconscious for hours after collapsing.

Sophia stood outside his room.

Her arms were crossed.

But her expression wasn't angry.

For once...

She had nothing to say.

Bosvel stood beside her silently.

Neither of them spoke.

They had already received too much news.

Light collapsing.

Daniel's decision.

The operation.

And now Daniel collapsing again.

Sophia slowly looked toward Bosvel.

"What the hell is wrong with my brother?"

Bosvel sighed.

"You already know the answer."

Sophia lowered her head.

A few seconds passed.

Then she quietly spoke.

"...Idiot."

But her voice cracked.

Bosvel looked away.

He understood.

Neither of them knew whether Daniel would be alright.

Neither of them knew whether Light would wake up again.

For the first time in years...

The strange little family was completely powerless.

All they could do...

Was wait.

Four months later...

Light slowly opened his eyes.

A bright light entered his vision.

His eyelids immediately shut again.

The sunlight hurt.

His body felt strange.

Heavy.

Weak.

Light slowly opened his eyes once more.

This time...

Everything was clearer.

His eyes moved around the room.

A white ceiling.

White walls.

Machines.

Hospital beds.

People.

Several people.

Light stared at them silently.

For a few seconds...

Nobody noticed.

Then—

"His eyes!"

A nurse suddenly froze.

Everyone turned toward Light.

"His eyes are open!"

The room instantly became chaotic.

"What?!"

"Get the doctor!"

"He's awake!"

Light's eyes moved from person to person.

His mind couldn't understand what was happening.

...What?

His throat felt dry.

His body still felt incredibly weak.

Why are they shouting...?

A doctor rushed toward him.

"Light! Can you hear me?"

Light stared at him.

The doctor checked his eyes.

Then the machines.

Then his breathing.

The doctor's eyes widened.

"He's conscious!"

"The patient is out of his coma!"

Light's mind froze.

...Coma?

His eyes widened slightly.

What do you mean... coma?

The doctor looked at the others.

"We need to call his father immediately!"

Light blinked.

Father...

The memories slowly returned.

The hospital.

The bright light.

Daniel.

His father collapsing.

Light's eyes trembled.

Father...?

Then the doctor spoke again.

"It's been four months!"

Light's mind went silent.

Four...

Months?

His senses suddenly became overwhelmed.

The sounds around him became louder.

The lights felt brighter.

The people moving around him felt confusing.

Four months.

To Light...

It felt like he had only closed his eyes.

The news reached Daniel immediately.

For a moment...

Daniel didn't move.

He simply stared at the person who had delivered the news.

"Sir?"

Daniel's eyes widened.

"Say that again."

"Light is awake."

Silence.

Daniel's expression remained completely still.

Then—

"WHAT?!"

Daniel immediately ran out of the room.

Sophia and Bosvel followed behind him.

"Wait for us, idiot!"

Sophia yelled.

But Daniel didn't listen.

He ran through the hospital corridors without caring about anything else.

His heart pounded inside his chest.

Artificial.

Yet beating.

Beating for him.

Because his real heart...

Was now inside his son.

Light remained in his hospital room.

The nurses helped him recover from the long period of unconsciousness.

His hair had grown messier.

His body had weakened.

Everything felt unfamiliar.

After some time...

The door suddenly opened.

Light slowly turned his head.

Sophia entered first.

Bosvel followed behind her.

And then—

Daniel.

Light stared.

Daniel stopped.

For a few seconds...

Nobody spoke.

Daniel's eyes slowly widened as he looked at Light.

Alive.

Breathing.

Awake.

After everything.

After years of fear.

After watching his son collapse.

After risking everything.

After four months of waiting.

Daniel's lips trembled.

"Light..."

Light stared at him.

Daniel slowly walked forward.

"Light..."

His voice cracked.

And then—

Daniel's entire body trembled.

Tears began flowing down his face.

"Light..."

He quickly walked toward the bed.

Before anyone could react—

Daniel bent down and wrapped his arms around his son.

"LIGHT!"

His voice filled the room.

Daniel completely broke down.

All the fear he had hidden for years finally escaped.

His shoulders shook.

His breathing became uneven.

He cried against Light like a child.

No pride.

No image to maintain.

No famous martial artist.

No King of Heaven.

At that moment...

He was simply a father.

A father who thought he was going to lose his son.

Light remained silent.

His eyes moved slightly.

...What's happening here?

Daniel continued crying.

Sophia stood nearby.

Her eyes had become red.

But she quickly looked away.

Bosvel silently wiped his face.

"Don't start crying too."

Sophia whispered.

Bosvel looked at her.

"...You're literally crying."

"I'm not."

"Your eyes are red."

"Shut up."

Light stared at them.

Then slowly looked back at Daniel.

Anyway...

Don't worry.

Light slowly raised his weak arms.

His body barely listened.

But he continued trying.

Slowly...

His arms wrapped around Daniel.

Daniel froze.

Light gently held him.

Comforting him.

Just like Daniel had comforted him all those years ago.

Light closed his eyes.

For the first time...

He truly understood something.

He was crying for me.

Daniel tightened his embrace.

And cried even harder.

Light's expression remained calm.

But somewhere inside...

Something warm appeared.

A feeling he hadn't felt before.

A feeling he couldn't explain.

...Family.

The doctor watched from a distance.

His expression slowly softened.

"It truly is surprising."

Everyone looked toward him.

The doctor stared at Light.

Then Daniel.

"Neither of them should have recovered this quickly."

Daniel looked at the doctor.

The doctor continued.

"Considering what happened... and the fact that this procedure had never been attempted before..."

He paused.

His eyes moved toward Light.

"But somehow..."

The doctor looked at Daniel.

"They're both still here."

The room fell silent.

Daniel slowly looked down at Light.

His smile returned.

A tired smile.

But a genuine one.

Light stared back at him.

Neither of them knew it yet.

They had survived something impossible.

They thought the nightmare was finally over.

They thought the future was theirs again.

But somewhere far beyond their peaceful little family...

Something had already begun moving.

Something connected to the blood flowing through Light's veins.

Something connected to Daniel.

And the inheritance that would one day...

Change everything.

To be continued...
