BOOM! BOOM!
Massive Geo spears and falling stars continued to crash into the ground. The deafening roar echoed across the region, reaching even the three Yakshas a hundred miles away.
Holy crap! Bonanus was stunned. This was Morax? He was nothing like the tea-drinking, shopping-loving Zhongli!
With power like this, who in the world could ever defeat the Geo Archon?
"Rex Lapis always talks about erosion, but his power is still this immense." Bosacius watched the war god from the Archon War era, marveling.
"Indeed." Bonanus nodded in agreement. She wondered if those five gods would even survive this assault.
Witnessing Morax's might reminded her of something he once said. It was practically the definition of humble-bragging:
"The power is returning. Not much, but enough."
She felt like the "not much" should be in air quotes.
"Cough... erosion? Morax never said that." As her pain gradually faded, Guizhong sat up slowly, looking confused.
"Lady Guizhong, it's a long story. Let Rex Lapis explain it to you after the battle." Bonanus smiled.
"I see..." Guizhong nodded slightly, closing her eyes to rest her weary nerves.
"Rex Lapis will finish soon. Be ready to leave." Bosacius said to Bonanus.
"Understood." Bonanus nodded.
...
On the Battlefield
The relentless assault left the gods gasping for breath. One by one, their defenses crumbled, and a sense of impending death crept over them.
But soon, the Geo spears and falling stars began to dwindle. Morax had stopped.
If he kept going, the Tree God, the Blazing Fire God, and the Blood God would be dead. That wasn't what he wanted—sealing them would be more trouble.
On the ground, the Blazing Fire God, the Tree God, and the Blood God were severely wounded, collapsed and drained of strength.
Gods were powerful, but against the stronger Morax, they were like helpless vegetables.
The Crocodile God had strong defenses, but he was in bad shape too. If you looked closely, large patches of his scales had been shattered.
A few more hits, and he would be a scaleless crocodile—naked, even.
As for the Serpent God, he was still standing, but his trembling body showed he was barely holding on.
"Damn it! Sampurn! What do we do now?" The Crocodile God roared. They couldn't even withstand the first wave. Was there any hope left?
Breathing heavily, Sampurn laughed maniacally. His mind was starting to crack.
Why? They were all gods. Why was Morax so much stronger than them? This world was unfair!
Since that was the case, he would hold nothing back.
Gritting his teeth, Sampurn stared at Morax, his eyes burning with madness.
Suddenly, all nine of his mouths opened wide, releasing strange black mist. It swept toward the other four gods, enveloping them.
"Sampurn! What are you doing?! Have you lost your mind?!" The moment the black mist touched him, the Crocodile God grew terrified.
He knew what that mist was. It was a cursed power that could consume wounded and exhausted gods, taking their strength and bodies for its own.
And now Sampurn was using it on them—this traitor!
The mist devoured them quickly. The Blazing Fire God, the Tree God, and the Blood God vanished before their eyes at an alarming rate.
The agony was unbearable, like flesh-eating insects gnawing at their bodies.
They had no strength left to scream. In their final moments, they could only shed bitter tears before vanishing from the land forever.
High above, Morax showed no surprise. When he had slain Sampurn in the past, he had seen this power before.
Though back then, Sampurn hadn't consumed these four gods.
Such an act would greatly enhance Sampurn's strength, but Morax wasn't worried.
He had expected Sampurn to consume one or two. But now, he had clearly lost his mind.
After their last encounter, Morax had studied this power.
Devouring too many gods would severely erode his mind. Soon, he would become nothing but a mindless killing machine.
But that worked in Morax's favor. He had come to seal five gods. Now, he only needed to seal one.
He would wait until the Serpent God finished his meal.
With that thought, Morax lowered his attacks and hovered silently in the sky.
...
He didn't wait long.
ROAR! ROAR! ROAR!
"MORAX!!!" Sampurn's eyes were blood red. All nine of his heads lunged toward Morax.
His wounds had fully healed. His body had grown even larger, and features resembling the other gods were starting to form.
"Heh... even mad, you still remember my name. Your hatred runs deep." Morax didn't dodge. He stood his ground calmly.
Back when he fought the Serpent God, he had always seen him as a reckless fool.
Poor judgment, no talent for speech, no proper tactics—just charging headfirst into blades.
Even his alliance was built on brute force. What was the point of a coalition that could fall apart at any moment?
While Morax was lost in thought—
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
Sampurn's nine heads crashed into Morax's Geo shield. But the attack was futile—it didn't even leave a scratch.
The serpent's power slammed against the shield, but to Morax, it was like a child throwing a tantrum.
"You truly are a fool." Morax said flatly.
If Sampurn had kept his mind and fought him head-on, he might have lasted a few exchanges, and sealing him would have taken some effort.
Even a foolish god wouldn't just stand by and let himself be sealed.
But now...
A mindless god, driven only by rage, was no match for Morax—even with stolen power. He couldn't even dodge.
Morax watched the relentless assault with a hint of disappointment.
"Time to end this farce." He raised his right hand. It was his signature move—a Geo spear to seal a god.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Larger, broader, and more powerful Geo spears fell from the dark sky, blazing like miniature suns.
With a deafening impact, Sampurn was pinned into a massive crater. The force was so great he couldn't break free.
The ambitious serpent god, who had dreamed of revenge against Morax, was thoroughly sealed at the heart of Guili Plains.
It was that simple. That easy.
With that, this war of the gods came to a close.
