The Chosen One to Rule Them all Chapter 10

Chapter 10: The Mistress of Darkness, Dreams and Schemes, and the Allfather Part 1

Ignara sighed and stepped closer to Rex. When she reached him, she tilted her head shyly. "Hey… I know you saw a lot today, and it probably blew your mind. I just want to apologize for this morning. I was wrong. I have a temper, and sometimes my punishments go too far. I—I bet that hurt a lot earlier."

Rex slowly opened his eyes, his sanity hanging by a thread. "W-What just happened? Where am I? Why did I kill Dirk and Jax? Is this a dream? A nightmare? Why did my teacher and classmate turn into dragons? Why did Thia appear? What brought her here? What the hell is going on?"

Ignara smiled gently at him and whispered sweetly. "Hey, hey… I know you have a million questions, but let's save them for tomorrow, okay? Here's what's going to happen: you're going to sleep, and Mistress Regina, the others, and I will handle everything else. You don't need to worry about anything." She offered him the warmest, most reassuring smile she could manage, then placed her hand over his eyes. Rex fell asleep instantly.

POV: Another Plane of Darkness

Rex awoke in a void—pure, endless black in every direction. There was no up or down, no left or right. His sense of direction was obliterated, and terror crept into his chest. He had no idea where he was or what he should do.

Then a soft, velvety voice pierced the darkness. "Finally, we meet, my love. Come to me. I wish to see you." One by one, violet torches ignited, revealing a long chamber. To Rex's left stood three dragons—Red, Blue, and Black. To his right, Green and White. The red dragon was chained, being whipped repeatedly by two purple-and-black dragon newts; her agonized screams echoed through the hall.

The deep shadows cloaked their bodies, revealing only the outlines of wings, horns, and sharp eyes. The Black dragon was nearly swallowed by darkness—only her eerie green eyes made her visible at all. But at the end of the hall, on a raised obsidian throne, sat the only figure fully illuminated.

Rex froze. She looked like a goddess sculpted from midnight itself—armor of obsidian and violet flame clinging to her form, wings unfurled like a cathedral built from shadows. Beauty and terror radiated from her in equal measure. An amethyst crystal glowed at her chest, casting a haunting purple radiance over her pale skin. Her eyes burned with twin violet stars, bright enough to pierce his soul.

But her aura… Her aura was something Rex had never felt before. It pressed against him like a crushing tide—ancient, malevolent, and overwhelming. Power radiated from her in slow, deliberate waves, the kind that made the air hum and the ground feel too small to contain her. Even when long chains extended from her arms, they seemed insignificant in her presence.

She was breathtaking.

She was terrifying.

She was absolute.

In that moment, Rex realized he was not looking at a woman—he was staring into the face of the Goddess of Darkness herself.

"My, my," the black one said, "by the sound of her screams, it seems she must have really angered our mistress. Hehheheheheh." I am curious what exactly she did do, mistress. I just must know.

Silence, Mortissia. "You are interrupting my quality time and annoying me," she said with a clear, irritated growl. The black dragon then got a fearful look in her green eyes, and they disappeared into the darkness, but Rex could still somehow feel her presence. He learned from that moment on not to interrupt when this woman was speaking, for that was not a good idea, and it was much wiser to keep his mouth shut.

The woman on the throne then smiled once more and gestured to come forward. Come, Rex, sit next to me. Rex was confused; this woman who controlled dragon-like pets said my name? How would she know my humble name? Also, she said, "My love?" Why would she be interested in a normal guy like me? So many questions entered his head and left him speechless. He then bowed and said, "My lady, I do not know what you mean." The others looked at him with curiosity in their eyes.

The woman scowled for a moment and then finally smiled again with a face that looked like she had found the solution to the most intricate puzzle, and she laughed as she spoke and said. It's okay, my love; we are equals—no need to lower yourself. Now come and join me on my throne, where you belong. There is plenty of room, and I want to cuddle. "Though that will be a bit hard with these chains," she giggled.

Rex knew better than to anger this woman, seeing the red dragon being tortured in the background, and went and placed his bottom upon the throne next to hers. All the dragons in the room were flabbergasted that she would act so cute in front of them. This caused her to then release an aura of death itself. My generals do not let this be known to the soldiers. Whoever mutters a word will know my wrath. The others nodded quickly and bowed, saying, "Yes, mistress," in a respectful tone.

She then rubbed her head gently upon his and smiled brilliantly. After a while, she stopped and spoke, still leaning on his neck, her brilliant violet eyes staring into his, and she gave him a slight lick on his cheek with her long tongue. W-What was that for? He asked. She giggled again; for dragons, that is similar to a kiss. This action caused him to blush.

"Ah, look how cute you are," she giggled again. "You must be confused about who I am, handsome. Allow me to explain." Her expression softened into an enchanting, almost overwhelmingly affectionate smile.

"I am Tiamathress, mistress and goddess of Darkness, Dreams, and Schemes. I've been known to be… naughty in the past—mostly thanks to family issues—but I can be a very loving, carefree girl."

Rex stared at her in disbelief. "Wait—you're the voice I heard talking to Regina? You've done horrible things. Why should I trust you? You killed the gods of your own pantheon, even your parents, and you tried to kill your sister."

She tittered. "Because, silly, this is your destiny. You are to be wed to every dragon god and princess. You are the All-Father, the source of our species. Without you, dragons would eventually die out. My idiot sister decided not to tell you, but you're also a dragon—and a god. In fact, you're the head of the pantheon. You have every right to rule at my side. Dragon worship has existed since the beginning of time."

Rex frowned. "If I'm the All-Father, and all dragons come from me, doesn't that mean you're all… related to me? Isn't that incest?" Tiamathress burst into laughter. "No, silly. At the dawn of time, you created the dragon gods through magic, not through any physical means. Then we, the gods, created our own offspring together, forming the royal clans. I am the goddess of the Chrome Dragons, Regina rules the Metal ones, and you'll meet the others soon."

"What about the male gods?" Rex asked. "Oh, they exist. Xaldrak, god of war, blood, and murder. Jovarix, god of Laughter, Fun, and Games. Vexalith, god of Thievery, Lies, and Deception. Plenty more."

Rex opened his mouth, trying to understand the origins of each clan. "But every species has to mate with its own species, or it dies off. Mortals aren't gods. That's a basic law of creation." "Yes, yes," she sighed. "But we're short on time, so stay focused. What's your next question?"

Rex exhaled shakily. "Why do you think I'm this All-Father person? I've been the same Rex my whole life. Then everything flips upside down—I get bullied, a dragon girl shows up at my school and tells me to fight back, I… kill them… And suddenly, two of my classmates and that girl turn into dragons and keep talking about a prophecy. So… what is the prophecy?"

Tiamathress leaned closer, her shadow curling around him like a living cloak. "Only this, my dearest: you are not here by accident. You never were. Everything you've experienced—all the pain, fear, and confusion—was only the first step of your awakening."

Her fingers brushed the side of his face with affection starkly at odds with the tormented wailing of the chained red dragon echoing behind them.

"The others will explain the details," she continued. "Regina especially. She always loved her rules and her prophecies. But for now, what matters is that you are beginning to break through the seal that hid your divinity. Soon, all pieces of you will remember who you once were."

Rex stiffened. Who I once was. The words echoed with a strange resonance, as though they stirred something buried deep in his bones—something older than the world he knew. A shiver crawled down his spine.

Tiamathress smiled knowingly. "Yes… You feel it, don't you? Even if your memories are sealed, your soul still remembers." She leaned back slightly, tilting her head as if admiring him. "When the first dragon god opens her heart to you, the seal cracks. And when the queen of shadow summons you into her own realm…" "…it began to break."

Rex felt the throne beneath him pulse faintly, like the heartbeat of some great and ancient creature. The air itself seemed to thrum in response to her words. "But why me?" Rex said. "Why would I be chosen for something like this? Why hide it from me? Why let me live as a normal person?" "Because you asked for it." Rex's breath hitched. "What?"

Sorry, boys and girls, gonna have to leave you at a cliffhanger, muhahahahahahaha. What is the key to unlock Rex's divinity? Why are the Dragons at war? Why is Rex so important? What is the prophecy? All of this will have to be found out later. Sorry about the short chapter; I have not been feeling well, and staying up until 2:40 in the morning has been taking its toll.
