"Fuck," he cursed, backing away from me in shock. "I shouldn't have done that. What you said… shit. Let's just take a beat, okay?"
"If I say no, will you punch me again?" I asked, holding onto my jaw, hoping for enough guilt to make sure he wanted to leave.
I knew I wasn't leaving that room while he was still in it. He backed away some more and then turned around, heading for the door. So much for him being exactly where he needed to be.
"No one comes in and no one goes out. Check in on him every five minutes until I get back. Do not underestimate him, Tanya," Jeff said to the older FBI agent by the door before he took off.
I gave the women a dazzling smile to test the waters. One of the agents was Tanya, the woman I had pissed off in the interrogation room after the raid. She seemed to remember as she wasn't smiling back. The other, much younger redhead however, that I could work with. I winked at her and she instantly beamed back at me.
"What's your name, sweetheart?" I asked, turning on the charm.
"Delilah," she called out to me, holding up her hand to wave even as an annoyed Tanya closed the door on me.
"One out of two is not bad," I said, heading to the bathroom.
Wasting no time, I unrolled toilet paper into the toilet, continuously flushing until I was sure it was clogged up. After the impression I made on Tanya, I needed my story to check out.
Satisfied with my handiwork, I went back to the front door and knocked on it.
"What?" Tanya asked, not even bothering to open the door.
"I need to take a leak really badly and the toilet's clogged," I said.
Sure enough, Tanya sent Delilah in to check out my story. Apparently I did an even better job than I thought, because water was flooding the bathroom when we got back to it.
"So gross," Delilah said, closing the bathroom door behind her seconds after opening it.
I gave her an innocent little shrug when we got back to the door and leaned against the wall with my head tilted towards her so she knew she had my attention as she opened the door.
"So what do you say, Delilah? Want to take a guy to the bathroom?" I asked, my voice honeyed as I attempted to make eye contact and flashed her my dimples.
Her cheeks turned pink and she clasped her hands behind her back, nodding her head while looking anywhere but at me.
"But just to pee. So you can pee. Of course," she said, stumbling over her words. "Nothing else."
"You're saving my life," I said sweetly, biting my lip and rubbing the back of my neck, but the poor thing still couldn't look me in the eye.
"We'll all go. I'm not letting you out of my sight," said an exasperated Tanya. "Lead the way, Agent Nelson," she said sternly.
Once we were on our way downstairs, me walking between Tanya and Delilah, I pulled my phone out of my pocket and texted Kenny.
Scott: Ready? We're a go.
Kenny and I had timed it perfectly. The fire alarm blared all around us just as we reached the bathroom.
"We need to evacuate. You'll have to hold it," Tanya said, matter of factly.
"You wouldn't want me to have an accident, would you Delilah?" I said, going to stand before her, my voice velvety, dimples once more on full display. I tilted her chin upwards gently with the tip of my index finger so she would be forced to look up at me. "It's probably just a drill anyway."
Not every woman, but nine times out of ten, I knew when I had her and I had Delilah. I could be reciting random numbers and, as long as I was looking at her while doing it, she'd believe it was pi if I told her so. My brown eyes never failed me. Come on, Delilah. Home stretch.
"Yeah, they probably do this all the time. Just be quick," she said, her lips easing into a dreamy smile while her eyes twinkled.
"Super quick. I promise," I said, hoping I at least looked as grateful as I felt.
"For goodness sake, Agent Nelson, that's a fire alarm. This is not protocol," Tanya objected, but I was already in the bathroom.
"Come on, Ken. It's all you," I said, pacing up and down the length of the bathroom nervously.
Holding Stacy again was the only thing going through my mind for the next two minutes. Fuck what happened with Jeff. That wasn't for right now. The only thing that mattered was getting to my girl.
An out of breath Kenny busted into the bathroom. I had already thrown every excuse in the book at the impatient women waiting outside by now. What the fuck did I say now?
"Sorry. Suddenly I have to take a dump," I blurted out, poking my head out the door.
The twinkle in Delilah's eyes slowly died and she looked visibly uncomfortable at the notion of knowing about me taking a shit. Good on her for having some standards. Sometimes even saying weird shit like that wasn't enough to dissuade them once I had looked their way.
"Be right out," I said with a quick smile.
Despite the blaring alarm, the stalls in the bathroom were full, except for one. I shoved Kenny into the stall.
"Buy a guy dinner first," he said, trying to stabilize his breathing.
"Why are you wearing my suit?" I asked, urgency in my voice as I started unbuttoning the jacket.
"You know what? No, because I just committed a felony for you. I get all the damn questions. What the fuck is going on?" Kenny whisper yelled, pulling the cap off his head.
"Keep that on," I said, putting it back on his head and taking a deep breath before I got into it. "Abridged version. Jenny came back. She's marrying Luca today. Stacy's going to see her father at this
thing. I need to be there because if I'm not, she might not come back to me."
