Dean's POV
As I was waiting in the car for Dia to come out with her son, I found myself reminiscing, our past, ten years ago...
Dia... She wasn't the first love of mine, neither my first girl to take... She was just the girl who made me feel how it is really to be in love with someone... She taught of me how it is to properly love someone... of how is it to love someone with just kindness and genuineness... and above all, she taught me of the feeling of how it is to be actually loved more...
(Flashback)
It was the first day of school at Beast High, and like always, I could see both familiar and unfamiliar faces at the room, then, Astrid came waving at me, asking me to sit beside her, and as I sit, I noticed someone sitting behind her, a stranger, a human amongst this beast-filled school.
Curious, I looked at Astrid and discreetly pointed at the girl behind. "Was she a pure human?" I asked.
And with a grin, Astrid nods and whispered to me. "She's quite popular, dating different kinds of guys ever since first year. Wanna bet?"
"A bet? what kind?" I asked, my brows raised.
Then she giggled and whispered conspirationally. "Let's bet on how fast you could make her fall for you, and if you win, I'll finally agree to be your Luna."
My eyes widen at Astrid's words, it was both tempting and conspicious, but since I have been pursuing her for years now, I had to accept her dare. "It's a good deal for me, but what happens when you win?" I inquired, knowing how sly can she be at times.
Astrid purred as she heard that. "If I win, you won't stop playing with her until I say so, and you'll end it all in a way I want you to." She murmured against my ear, making flustered.
But I immediately shrugged it off and glanced at the girl a bit more before looking at Astrid. "Deal, I bet I can get her in a month!" I said, locking in my bet.
Then she smirked. "Oh no! You give here too much credit, Dean! But sure, I'll go bet for a week." Astrid then stated with uttered confidence, leaving me just nodding.
Then, out of nowhere, Astrid just began talking to her like they were friends or something.
"Hey! Dia was it? This is Dean, he's the Lycan Prince and is my good friend, he was kinda interested in you, would mind being friends with him too?" Astrid initiated so of course, I followed her lead.
Holding out my hand to her. "Dia, huh? So close to my name, could we be some fated mates?" I murmured flirtatiously, and seeing it blushed, I just knew it, I placed the wrong bet, in fact, I could get her even before a week.
So when it actually accepted the handshake, I couldn't help but to smirk. "Would you be okay grabbing some lunch with me later?" I offered, with malicious intent of course.
"S-sure, but its the first day, don't you want to go with Astrid?" She asked, her eyes pure of kindness, looking at Astrid, who's actually grinning satisfied right after her nose.
"No, no. It's okay, I got other friends to join!Besides, its not like everyday you can have a lunch with the lycan prince, it will be your honor." Astrid then builded up, making Dia agree right off the bat.
Then, after that, the lunch date with Dia became so natural, we even started to hangout more even after classes and before I knew it, I was already getting used to her presence, enough to drive me wild when she suddenly goes absent.
Came one week before the month I betted on, Dia asked. "Dean... I don't want to assume, but were you courting me?"
It caught me off-guard and actually made me flustered, but I kept my calm and said. "And if I were, would you ask me to stop?"
There, the naive Dia, shook her head and smiled. "I won't, I'll just have to answer in the right time, right?" She said.
And all I had manage to reply was a smile and a nod, praying that she'd actually last a month to do so, that way, I had won the bet with Astrid fair and square.
Then, came one month mark, I decided to surprise her with a flower, and in front of our classmates, I asked Dia to be my girlfriend and yes, she said yes!
So I actually won the bet, but during the first two months of my relationship with Dia, Astrid was being aloof and totally distant with me, as if she had forget about the dare, so I had spent all the time with Dia.
And that's when I realized, Dia, was a nothing but a pure soul amidst this chaotic world, she wasn't just a 'human' she is pretty, kind, smart, and above all, she loves dearly, going all out for the person she loves, and that's only when I felt being loved for real...
During those times, I am already having second thoughts, if I am still with her as part of the bet, or was it already me, falling for her...
Then came Astrid coming into the picture again, started to monopolize my time with her, making Dia mad and sad as we entered our third month...
Midnight of the third month with my relationship with Dia, Astrid came into my place and offering herself to me, as my Luna, and with my needs as a future Alpha and the Lycan King, I give into the tempation and took her.
Came morning, I went to school with Astrid, with her being clingy, not minding the stares of the other Lycans and Beasts we passed through, and with Astrid's urging to cut classes, I did, spending the whole class hours at school but not on our classroom.
Then, as soon as the ring bells, Dia comes to us her face serious. "Why didn't you guys attend classes when you are just here?" She asked, probing, her eyes fixed on Astrid's arms on mine.
I was about to answer that, but Astrid did. "Are you dumb or what? We skipped to be together!" Astrid replied, rolling her eyes to Dia.
Dia who was trying hard not to cry, looked at me. "Aren't you at least gonna greet me?"
Which I just I shrugged off, feigning innocence on what day is it today.
"R-right... You must have forgotten, after all you guys were so busy..." Then, Dia took a deep breathe, before speaking again, her eyes boring into my soul. "Choose then... Me? or was it her all along?"
Knowing she'll be hurt anyway, I chose the rough road and went hurting her with the blunt truth. "Wasn't it obvious enough, Dia? I am choosing her! If you don't know, she's actually my Luna now, and its all thanks to you for making me win that bet!" I replied with uttered arrogance and mockery.
And as I said that, Dia just fell into her knees, crying her heart out in front of me and Astrid, but not saying anything.
Meanwhile, Astrid took her sweet time in shaming her, right in front of the students who incidentally passed by.
And soon enough, Dia just get up and without a single glance or a word, she went storming out of the campus, leaving Astrid with great satisfaction.
And that day, was also the last day I came to see and knew about her, because no one had seen her after that.
(End of flash back)
After that, I live my life with Astrid, as my Luna, but life was never easy with her, she'd always ask for more than you could give, when she herself wasn't even putting up an effort to make your relationship work.
Then, I came to know about her affair with that Silvestre... and with no one really knowing that he got a wife, it got easier for him to fool around, but not with me.
I actually did came to that party to expose their infedelity, but out of all the odds, Dia was there and with that bastard, and seeing it hurting her just made my blood boil.
I mean, I did want to cause a scene by exposing their cheating asses, but I didn't meant it to be physical, especially not when the sickly Dia just give birth!
I knew how sensitive was her head, that a simple tug could hurt her so bad, and when I saw Astrid hurting her, it took too much control for me, not shove her away, in consideration of her being a woman with an unborn baby, but I had enough when she ducked Dia's face to the floor.
(End of Reminiscing)
As soon as Dia got settle back into the car, I couldn 't help myself anymore and carefully took the baby from her and into my arms.
"Good thing he looks like you, it would be hard if he ended up looking like that bastard." I commented with a smug grin.
"Hm? what would be hard?" Dia asked, her curious eyes twinkling.
But it got me flustered, as I really don't know what to tell her, so instead of answering that, I just looked away and cradled her son, muttering in the back of my mind.
"I promise to make up for everything, Dia. You'll never be alone and hurt again. You're mine again and I'm never letting go this time."
