Chapter 172 - [172] Dumbledore Vanishes – Ministry Strikes Back with Iron Fist!

"Professor McGonagall, do you know where Headmaster Dumbledore is located?"

"We have discovered some issues regarding the Chamber of Secrets in Slytherin and require his assistance in the investigation."

Alan Mitchell was neither humble nor arrogant.

He wasn't a Hogwarts graduate, and unlike most British wizards, he didn't have an instinctive fear of seeing his former teachers.

Respect for Professor McGonagall was limited to her position as dean and her impartial attitude.

"Headmaster Dumbledore is searching for a cure for Harry and Ron and is not at Hogwarts for the time being."

"If you have anything to discuss, you can come to my office. Please don't disturb the young wizards' class."

Professor McGonagall sensed something was amiss.

But she had just come out of the office and hadn't seen the report in the Daily Prophet.

The Ministry officials assumed that something was wrong.

They wanted to ask Dumbledore and Argus to reinvestigate.

Alan Mitchell paid no heed to the sidelong glances from the young wizards in the castle hall.

To be precise, his purpose in coming here was to shatter the image of Dumbledore in the minds of the young wizards at Hogwarts.

"Professor McGonagall!"

"The Ministry of Magic found many wounds on the basilisk that did not match Principal Dumbledore's description."

"Furthermore, according to our investigation, Mr. Grindelwald and his companions were not the only ones present in the Slytherin Chamber of Secrets that night!"

You should know what I mean.

Upon hearing this, Professor McGonagall immediately sensed something was wrong!

She knew part of the truth and subconsciously thought that the Ministry of Magic had actually found something.

The young wizards around him heard Alan Mitchell's words and glanced at the Daily Prophet's report on the table.

Although Alan Mitchell didn't say it explicitly, his words were full of implications.

The Chamber of Secrets incident in Slytherin is related to Dumbledore!

The young wizards felt that the beliefs they had held for so many years were beginning to crumble.

Why did Headmaster Dumbledore conceal the truth?

Could it be that, as the Daily Prophet previously wrote, he deliberately allowed the basilisk to harm students in order to keep his position as principal?

The young wizards' expressions changed instantly, and they looked up at the headmaster's seat.

The respect that once filled their eyes when they entered the school was long gone.

Although it has not yet been confirmed that Dumbledore did these things, the seeds of doubt have already been sown.

All that's left is to quietly wait for it to take root and sprout.

Professor McGonagall frowned deeply: "Is the Ministry of Magic going to arrest Headmaster Dumbledore?!"

"No, Headmaster Dumbledore is the Headmaster of Hogwarts, the President of Wizengamot, and the greatest white wizard of this century."

"We just want his assistance in the investigation, not to arrest him."

Alan Mitchell was ostensibly explaining, but his tone carried a hint of dissatisfaction.

The meaning is clear: if it weren't for Dumbledore's status, he wouldn't have been given the opportunity to assist in the investigation!

Dumbledore dared to act recklessly only because of his status in the wizarding world!

Professor McGonagall understood Alan Mitchell's implied meaning, frowned, and shook her head.

Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of Argus not far away, and her expression suddenly turned serious.

"You're not going to ask Mr. Grindelwald to come and assist with the investigation, are you?"

Upon hearing Professor McGonagall's question, the other young wizards at Hogwarts also became nervous.

Putting aside Argus's relationship with them, who among them hadn't received Argus's help during their time at Hogwarts?

Putting everything else aside, just solving the Slytherin Chamber of Secrets problem is enough to make most young wizards grateful.

Not to mention he's currently teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts to first and second-year students!

"What does this have to do with Mr. Grindelwald!"

Colin, who had recovered from the petrification, held his camera in front of Argus.

His thin, pale face was filled with anger.

"Mr. Grindelwald is the hero who saved Hogwarts! I will not allow you to take him away!"

"That's right!" Justin stepped forward, though he was a little timid.

"If you're going to take Mr. Grindelwald away, then take us with you!"

The other petrified students also stepped forward one by one.

Although they didn't say anything, they had already shown their attitude through their actions.

Actually, there was something else these people didn't say aloud.

Argus is only twelve years old, how could he possibly do something like this, playing a trick on the entire British magical community!

Even if something really goes wrong, or even if everything is under Dumbledore's surveillance, he might not be able to find out!

Previously, it was Argus who protected them and eliminated the basilisk for them.

Now, it was their turn to protect Argus!

Alan Mitchell hadn't expected such a strong reaction from the people at Hogwarts, nor had he realized that Argus was already this popular at the school.

He hurriedly offered an explanation, fearing it would provoke public outrage.

"Young wizards, don't worry, we have not found any evidence that Mr. Grindelwald was involved."

"We won't take him away."

"Everyone, thank you for your kindness." Argus stepped forward, stopping the crowd from continuing to obstruct Alan Mitchell's actions.

He knew that the whole thing was aimed at only one person: Dumbledore.

It's impossible for the fire to spread to him.

Alan finally brought the Aurors here, and Argus couldn't let this great opportunity be ruined by the young wizards from Hogwarts.

Alan continued to reassure the group of young wizards, "Don't worry, everyone. The Ministry of Magic is acting in accordance with the laws of the magical world and will not arrest people arbitrarily."

He turned to Argus and said, "Mr. Mitchell, if the Ministry of Magic really has anything to investigate, I'm willing to cooperate."

"Thank you for your understanding, Mr. Grindelwald," Alan Mitchell said, taking the opportunity to back down.

"Since Headmaster Dumbledore isn't here, we won't delay Hogwarts' class time."

"I hope Professor McGonagall will contact Principal Dumbledore soon."

"If I can get in touch with Headmaster Dumbledore, I will remind him," Professor McGonagall nodded.

But a sense of anxiety crept into her heart.

"Farewell!" Having achieved his goal, Alan Mitchell didn't linger and waste any more time.

He left gracefully and confidently.

"Alright, little wizards, although I admire your courage to stand up for your friends."

"But I still want to remind you of something."

"You have less than half an hour before your first class. If you haven't finished breakfast yet, please hurry up."

"Otherwise, we'll have to attend class on an empty stomach."

Professor McGonagall did not punish Colin and the others for their behavior; instead, she showed some appreciation.

She looked up in the direction Alan Mitchell had gone.

A hint of worry flashed in her eyes again.
