Third person Pov
It's late at night at the Grayson household.
Matt stalked back into his family home completely damp and tired.
The lights were off downstairs, and it seemed no one was there. He started making his way towards the stairs when, suddenly, the light from a lamp on the couch came on.
"Where have you been all night young man?" Debbie sat with legs crossed and a scowl already on her face.
"Hey ma," Matt said in a tired voice he only used when he was too sleepy to truly care about anything. That was exactly how he was feeling at the current moment though he did have the good manners to at least attempt to look apologetic.
"Oh my god what happened?" Debbie noticed the state of her son's clothing instantly switched from angry mom mode to worried mom mode and while Matt appreciated it, he didn't have the energy to care fully right now.
"I'm ok ma. I just really want to shower and sleep."
"Ugh yes, you do." She said pinching her nose and waving a hand in front of her face.
"Ma." Matt deadpanned.
"Right sorry but don't think this means you're off the hook young man." She said unpinching her nose and smiling softly.
"Right… goodnight, Mom." He nodded turning to leave and walk up the stairs.
"Goodnight Matt," Debbie said softly a worried frown marking her face.
As Matt continued up the stairs thoughts of the day swirled all about his mind.
It only took a few minutes after he reached his room for Matt to finish showering and change for sleep.
His outfit consisted of red flannel pajama pants and that was it.
Lying down Matt plugged up his phone on his charger and lay still for a few moments. Then a text came through, just a few simple yet daunting words.
[Hey u up?]
Matt sighed checked the message and put his phone back down. Then he thought about it for a moment and decided that no, he was in fact, not, awake right now.
Then he rolled over and fell asleep.

Matt woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of someone screaming.
He jolted up looking around as the sound faded from his ears. His eyes were too blurry to really see anything so wiping the sleep from his face Matt got up and looked around.
There was nothing in his room but he could have sworn that he heard someone scream. In fact, it sounded like someone familiar.
In fact, it sounded like Mark now that he really thought about it. His eyes narrowed. He had a hunch but his mind was still too foggy from sleep to be sure.
Quickly grabbing his phone he shoved it into his pocket and ducked out of his window.
Sticking his head out first to check the area Matt could have sworn he heard another voice shout something. With a hop, he landed on the shingled roof.
Looking up Matt heard another cry.
"Yep, definitely Mark," he grumbled launching off the rooftop.
Soaring upwards he noticed his little brother falling out of the air and about to crash into the pavement.
Matt rushed forward and caught his little brother out of the air.
"Tha-Matt!" Mark shouted, Matt flinched away from his voice, and started turning back towards the house.
"Sup," Matt said a tired yet smug grin splitting his face.
"You got your power?!" Mark shouted incredulously his hands wildly gesturing to his brother's floating form.
"Yep," Matt said wincing at his brother's yells.
"Also could you be any louder bro?" Matt asked slowly floating back down into the yard and dropping Mark.
"Ouch, dude what the hell?!" Mark said rubbing his back as he started getting up.
"Well Dude, it's literally like 3 AM and you're screaming your lungs out… pause." He said crossing his arms.
"Ew also I wasn't even being that loud." Mark frowned.
"Oh yeah, then why the fuck could I hear from all the way in my bedroom?" Matt said floating back up to his window.
"I don't know, look, let's just go inside." Mark sighed and the two continued to bicker all the way back inside though there was no real heat to it.

The next morning Matt joined his little brother and his father for their early training. There were the obvious things like Nolan's surprise at Matt unlocking his powers and whatnot but to be fair if Mark had I locked them it was safe to say Matt would too.
After that, it had just been some routine flying practice for both of them. Where Mark had struggled slightly at the beginning Matt had already gotten a firm handle on his flying abilities the previous night and it wasn't too hard to polish the skills the next day.
He mainly focused on perfecting movements that were more side-to-side than anything else. His linear movements were mostly fine but he'd wanted to perfect mid-air dodges before anything else.
So quickly enough the duo was introduced to combat training. More particularly Nolan was trying to teach Mark how to throw a proper punch while flying.
Unfortunately, Mark absolutely sucks at fighting, and more than that he can't even land a single blow in their father. So to give him a better example Nolan decides to throw a punch of his own.
"Try hitting me more like this," Nolan said before launch in a forward. Mark was completely caught off guard.
"Like what-" When the blow landed he dropped to the floor almost instantly.
"Oooh, and it looks like he's down for the count. Speaking of counts." Matt crouched to the ground next to Mark and started counting.
"1, 2, 3. Ring, ring, ring, and we have a winner!" Matt laughed as Mark glared up at his brother's smiling face.
"Fuck off." Mark groaned on the grass still clutching his stomach.
"Language Mark, also Matt help your brother up. You may not have faired any better." Nolan says sternly only for Matt to scoff slightly. He's not dumb, he knows he stands absolutely no chance of defeating Nolan in any form of direct combat but he needed to test his limits.
Hell at this point although he suspected from the fact that he was the better flyer, Matt didn't actually know if he was stronger than Mark at all. So he decided to have Nolan hit him as well to make sure he could take it.
"Well, I'm not so sure about that but alright. We are going to have to teach him how to take a punch though." Matt stands up reaching out a hand to his little brother.
"Yes, that's true now come on Mark get up."
Matt took his brother's hand and pulled him up even after standing up though he still frowned in pain.
"What about me though?" Matt questioned.
"What do you mean?" Nolan asked lifting a brow in confusion.
"Common hit me too I want to see if I can take it." He said switching into a light fighting stance.
"Are you sure? We already saw what it did to Mark." Nolan gestured to Matt's brother still ben over in pain.
"Yeah, I'm sure I need to test my durability somehow right? Besides Mark doesn't really know how to fight anyway." Matt said smirking.
"I suppose so."
Nolan uncrossed his arms weighing the possibility in his mind.
"Oh yeah ugh hit him like, really hard, preferably in the face." Mark groaned still in pain from Nolan's punch. A frown of frustration marked his face as he glared up at his brother.
"I love you too Mark," Matt said sarcastically glancing down at his brother before looking back at their father. "I'm ready now."
Nolan frowned and lifted his arm to strike. "Brace yourself." The strike was swift and the air moved violently in its wake.
However, it didn't land on Matt's face, striking nothing but air.
Matt smirked "Come on, old man I never promised that it would be easy."
Nolan snorted erecting his position in the air.
"Alright if you're sure, let's see what you can do."
Omniman rushed forward swinging fists that could crush damn near anything on the planet right at Matt's head.
Matt was an experienced fighter at this point at least by human standards but Nolan was thousands of years old and had fought battles on a scale the earth had never seen. He'd participated in wars that had ended societies, enslaved millions, and slaughtered civilisations by the dozens without a care.
The outcome of a fight between the two of them now was a forgone conclusion. This wasn't about victory for Matt though. No, this was a test for what's to come.
Matt blocked the duck blow, a simple right hook that landed on Matt's forearm followed by a left straight that Matt ducked. Instead of the blow simply being missed, the failed strike generated a shockwave strong enough for Matt to go flying.
Regaining his balance Matt grinned up at his approaching father. This was going to hurt that was sure. One blow and Matt's arm felt like it had been hit with a sledgehammer.
But that's fine, after all any important test is a hard one.

Imma be real y'all my heart just wasn't in it this chapter so I'm sorry if it feels like random filler I'm probably going to focus on skipping to more important events rather than random moments in the story.
