Chapter 67 - CHAPTER 67: WHEN THE WORLD STOPPED BREATHING

KISS'S POV

"Hospital, please," I said softly, fastening my seatbelt.

"My appointment is important today."

"Yes, ma'am," the driver replied. "We'll be there in twenty minutes."

I rested my palm on my stomach instinctively.

"You hear that?" I whispered, smiling faintly. "We're going to see you again today."

A small kick answered me.

I laughed quietly. "Just like your father… impatient."

The car moved smoothly, traffic light, calm—too calm.

My smile slowly faded.

"Sir," I called gently, "can you slow down a little?"

He glanced at the mirror. "Everything okay?"

"I don't know," I admitted. "I just… feel strange."

Before he could answer—

BOOM!

The impact was violent.

"Jesus—!" the driver shouted.

The car jerked forward, metal screaming as another force slammed into us again.

I screamed.

"My babies!" I cried as the world flipped.

Glass shattered. My head hit something hard. Pain exploded everywhere.

"Hold on!" the driver yelled.

But there was no holding on.

The car spun, lifted, then crashed down brutally.

Silence followed.

Thick. Terrifying.

"Sir?" I whispered weakly. "Sir… can you hear me?"

No answer.

I turned my head slowly, my vision blurred with tears.

"Please," I begged, voice breaking. "Please say something."

Blood.

Too much blood.

"No… no… no…" I sobbed. "Please wake up."

My stomach cramped sharply.

I screamed in pain.

"My babies!" I cried. "Someone help me!"

Footsteps approached.

Slow.

Heavy.

I forced my eyes open wider.

"Help…" I whispered.

The figure stopped beside the broken window.

I tried to see the face.

"Please… my children…" I begged.

The person leaned slightly.

And smiled.

A cold, cruel smile.

"You…" I breathed in horror.

My heart raced violently.

"This… wasn't…" I tried to speak, but my tongue felt heavy.

The figure straightened, eyes dark, watching me fade.

"You'll lose everything," a voice murmured softly.

Fear swallowed me whole.

"Adrian…" I whispered, tears sliding down my face.

"Please…"

Darkness claimed me.

ADRIAN'S POV

I stopped walking.

Right in the middle of the meeting.

"Adrian?" Isaac frowned. "What's wrong?"

I pressed my hand to my chest.

"I don't know," I muttered. "Something's—"

My phone rang.

I stared at it.

My heart pounded violently.

"Kiss…" I whispered before answering.

"Yes?"

"Mr. Goodwill," a shaky voice said, "this is City V Central Hospital."

My blood ran cold.

"Why are you calling me?" I demanded.

"There's been… an accident."

I clenched my jaw. "Say it again."

"Your wife was involved in a severe collision."

"No," I snapped. "You're mistaken."

"The driver died on impact."

The room spun.

My legs weakened.

"Where is she?" I demanded hoarsely.

"She's unconscious. We're rushing her to emergency surgery."

"What about my children?" I roared.

A pause.

"We're trying to save them."

I dropped the phone.

Isaac caught me. "Adrian!"

"My wife…" I whispered brokenly. "She's hurt."

"We're going now," Isaac said firmly. "Now."

HOSPITAL — EMERGENCY

"Blood pressure dropping!" "She's pregnant—twins!" "Prep the operating room!"

I floated in and out of consciousness.

"Kiss," a nurse said urgently, gripping my hand.

"Stay with us."

"My babies…" I whispered. "Promise me… promise me…"

"We're doing everything we can," she said, voice trembling.

A doctor leaned over me.

"Mrs. Goodwill, listen to me."

I tried to focus.

"We need to deliver your babies now."

"Will they live?" I cried weakly.

He hesitated.

"Please," I begged. "Please don't lie to me."

"We'll fight for them," he said honestly.

Tears streamed down my face.

"And me?" I whispered.

He swallowed.

"We'll fight for you too."

ADRIAN — OUTSIDE THE OPERATING ROOM

"Let me in!" I shouted. "That's my wife!"

"You can't, sir!" a nurse insisted.

"She's carrying my children!" I roared. "I'm not leaving!"

A doctor stepped forward.

"We need to operate immediately."

"Save her," I said dangerously. "Or I swear—"

"Mr. Goodwill," he interrupted calmly, "we need you to pray."

I laughed bitterly.

"I've never prayed this hard in my life."

I slid down the wall, fists clenched.

"Kiss," I whispered brokenly.

"You promised me forever."

INSIDE THE OPERATING ROOM

"We have the first baby!" "He's breathing!" "Second one—come on—come on—!"

A tiny cry filled the room.

"They're alive!"

Relief barely settled before—

"She's hemorrhaging!" "We're losing her!"

"No!" a nurse cried.

"Stabilize her now!"

ADRIAN

The doors remained closed.

Too long.

Way too long.

"God," I whispered, eyes burning.

"If you take her… take me instead."

I buried my face in my hands.

"I can't raise them without her."

The doors finally opened.

A doctor stepped out.

My heart stopped.
