Chapter 3 - Chapter II: The Beginning

Eighteen years later in the human world.

Adam had grown, becoming the young man he is today.

The scene opens with Adam in his apartment, laying on his bed, at morning.

Adam rose from bed and moved to the bathroom. He shed his clothes, turned the shower to cold, and stepped in.

The season is Winter, and so, the water is as cold as imaginable, however, his scarlet eyes are half-lidded, blank. He is motionless under the shower for a moment, before starting to wash himself slowly, rinsing his hair.

Despite the steam filling the room, his breathe didn't fog, not even once.

He finished, and stepped out, grabbing a towel to dry his body and hair, then he wore new clothes, and proceeded to cook his meal as he always does.

He finished cooking, placed his plate on the table, made himself black tea with no sugar, sat down, and started eating his food in slow pace, taking his time.

While that's happening, his eyes are fixed on the window that gives view to the city outside, named "Requiem City", which he lives in.

He sees people running and walking in fast paces, chasing what is important in their lives, whether it's job, hobby, the usual stuff humans have.

However, as his eyes remains fixed, and still eating his food, he notices a ripple in the view which manifested only for a split second, that only he can see, he didn't understand what was it, but it is safe to say that he is the only person who can see it.

After he finishes his food, he stood up, cleaned his plate and glass, then begins wearing his shirt and a hoodie on it, tied his shoes, took his keys, and went outside his apartment, and closed the door, even though what is yet to come, will never be stopped by the same door he lives behind.

As he is walking in the streets, going to his work as an Engraver.

His gaze remains fixed ahead, but what always happened with him since living in the human world continues.

Eyes of many people looking at him, some of them were filled with fear, some with nervousness, and some with terror.

But nevertheless they all were feeling something…off, about Adam, but they didn't know why, neither Adam did. However, as he continues walking, he finally reaches the place of his work and begins his daily job.

Adam's relationship with his companions in the work wasn't whole, but it wasn't filled with toxicity either. They were interacting with him only within the aspects of work, need. But never as friendship, as they were feeling the same thing citizens were feeling: something about Adam is…off.

————————————————————————

At 5pm, Adam finished his work, and began walking back home. Everyday, his life pattern was simple: wake up, take cold shower, cooking his own food, read some book, going to his job, then go back to his house. And that's all. While he's walking, a kid on the street that were with his mother, holding a sweet and happily eating it.

However, as the kid's eyes landed on Adam, the sweet fell on the ground from his hand, which began shaking in fear, then they ran to their mother screaming, terrified.

Adam paused mid-step, his eyes flicked towards the kid's direction, and for a split second, his sclera became black, and his scarlet gaze glowed brighter. Only for a split second.

Then, he continued walking, his gaze fixed ahead, and finally reaches his apartment, he stepped inside, closed the door behind him, locked it with his keys.

After he goes inside his bedroom, he takes off his upper clothes, and before going to the bed, he looks at the mirror, sees a crimson reflection forming slowly, but Adam shrugged, and went to his bed.

He knew that this was just one of the many things he can see, and percieve. The one of the many things his mere eyes can see crystal-clear, which something normal humans cannot.

He closes his eyes, and despite he feels no fatigue or exhaustion at all, he drifts to sleep.
