After an hour-long drive, the group finally arrived at the Hadadi Mountains, where the tomb was located.
Another team of American soldiers guarded the area, and a simple handover took place between the two sides.
At this moment, an officer with the rank of major walked over and extended his hand in greeting:
"Hello, Dr. Edmond, I am Major Rocher, the commander of this operation. Your safety inside the tomb will be guarded by me and my team."
Seeing his demeanor, Edmond immediately extended his hand to shake back: "Hello, Major!"
"Doctor, if there's nothing else you need to prepare, then we can proceed!"
"Of course, I am already prepared!"
A tomb at least five thousand years old—how astonishing must be the things recorded within it? This held a fatal attraction for a scholar.
Following the route that had already been surveyed and cleared, a group of more than ten people officially set off towards the tomb.
This tomb had been discovered some time ago; the main gate had long since disappeared, and there were obvious traces of explosives around it. It was clear what had happened, which filled Edmond with regret.
He could only pray that the contents inside had not been too extensively damaged.
Upon entering the tomb, a dark, deep, and narrow tunnel stretched ahead. Several soldiers immediately turned on their lighting equipment.
On the stone walls on both sides, there were numerous inscriptions in ancient Egyptian. Just as Edmond was about to examine them closely, Major Rocher spoke:
"Doctor, the information you looked at last night was photographed and compiled from these two walls."
His words clearly told him not to waste time in these areas.
Upon hearing this, Edmond retorted, "True history cannot be compared to a pile of photographic data."
He then ignored the slight change in the other party's expression and meticulously examined the writings on the rock wall.
Although he had repeatedly reviewed this information last night, seeing it up close and in person now offered a completely different experience.
He couldn't help but murmur softly, "Time has concealed too many historical truths. Thousands of years ago, our world was a completely different sight."
Through the inscriptions on the stone wall, a vision of another world seemed to appear before Edmond's eyes.
Thousands of years ago, the footprints of the gods had not yet completely faded, magic flourished on the earth, and powerful wizards controlled divine power.
Although all of this was vastly different from the current world, in this era where extraordinary powers frequently emerged, the history of the past might not be untrue.
Thinking of this, Edmond's face couldn't help but show a hint of fascination. He carefully tried to reach out and touch these ancient texts but stopped, fearing he might cause damage!
Faced with his actions, Rocher felt helpless. This was why he disliked working with these old researchers.
The group walked, stopping and starting, finally reaching the end of the tunnel.
The path ahead was blocked, suggesting that beyond it lay the true core area of this tomb!
At this moment, Rocher stepped forward and said, "Doctor, our previous exploration of this tomb only reached this point. Because we weren't sure what was behind the wall, we didn't act rashly."
This was only now; if it had been ten years ago, this place would probably have been blown open by one of their rockets!
Edmond stepped forward and carefully examined the inscriptions on the stone wall.
It read: "Place of evil burial, living beware!"
"This is a warning from our predecessors to us, the latecomers. It seems the crown of sabbac is truly buried within."
Unfortunately, Edmond and his group had no idea that this was never a tomb.
Even earlier, this was once the site of the Eternal Council established by the wizards, but in the end, they were all killed by Black Adam, leaving only the wizard Shazam.
However, he also paid a heavy price to successfully seal him in this place.
Although the crown of sabbac was also sealed here, it was nothing compared to Black Adam slumbering within.
Rocher couldn't help but ask, "Doctor, are there any curses or sorcery left on it... you know what I mean."
As soldiers, they could die on the battlefield under enemy fire, but they were unwilling to provoke some inexplicable curses or other strange things.
"No, don't worry. The person who left this information doesn't seem to be an evil entity."
"What should we do next? Should we blow up this stone wall?"
Upon hearing this, Edmond immediately objected, "No, we cannot use explosive methods; that would destroy this place."
"Doctor, don't worry, we will control the intensity of the blast."
However, this time, Rocher did not give up due to his objection. Their mission was only to find the crown of sabbac, which possessed supernatural power, not to conduct actual archaeology.
As for these ancient ruins, if they were destroyed, they were destroyed; after all, this place did not belong to their America.
Soon, after some work by two soldiers, a gap was blown open in the stone wall, large enough for a person to easily pass through.
Then, they used instruments to detect the air composition in the space inside, ensuring there were no harmful gases produced by prolonged sealing.
After doing all this, several people entered first before Rocher said to Edmond, "Doctor, please!"
Although Edmond disliked their crude methods, what was done was done, and he could do nothing about it.
After passing through the rock wall, they entered an open space, and Edmond immediately saw the tombstone-like inscription on the ground.
Gently brushing away the dust, his expression became somewhat excited, and then he involuntarily read aloud the words on it:
"Do not covet power, disturb his slumber—Teth-Adam!"
"The legend of the slave who received the blessings of the gods and defeated King Akton is true. His name is Teth-Adam, and this is his tomb."
As Professor Edmond was engrossed in the inscriptions, a soldier suddenly pointed ahead and shouted, "Look!"
Following the direction of his finger, everyone looked over.
Not far ahead, there was a vent-like skylight above, from which a dim light shone down. Between two huge rocks, a crown floated quietly in mid-air.
"The crown of sabbac!"
In an instant, this thought appeared in everyone's mind.
And just as they were preparing to find a way to retrieve it, Maksim Gregor's armed squad appeared outside!
Under a sneak attack, they easily dealt with the American soldiers guarding outside.
"The other Americans seem to have gone in. You all guard the exit, the rest of you follow me in. We absolutely cannot let them take the crown of sabbac."
Maksim immediately ordered his subordinates to guard the exit tightly, while he himself led his men into the tomb.
