Back at the Patriarchate residence, Father Elias prepared tea while Robert placed on
the table all the objects they had collected so far.
"Did you know David was alive?" Robert asked.
Jacob slowly shook his head.
"We lost contact during that mission. It was assumed he died in the collapse. I… I kept
searching, but there was never a trace."
Elias opened a thick book, bound in reddish leather.
"David did not return as a man," he said. "He returned as a member of an ancient sect:
the Order of the Threshold."
Sara frowned.
"Who are they?"
Elias flipped through the pages.
"They believe the Seven Seals do not announce destruction, but the purification of the
world. They consider opening them an act of sacred duty."
"And my brother?" Jacob asked.
"Perhaps he was chosen… or perhaps they broke him until he believed he was."
Jacob clenched his fists.
Those words hurt more than any physical wound.
"What does it say about the sixth seal?" Robert asked.
Elias took a deep breath."That it will bring a great earthquake. Not figurative… literal."
Sara felt a chill.
"Then not just a few would die. It would be thousands."
Jacob stood up.
"We have to stop him before he activates the sixth."
And for the first time, his voice trembled.
