Well, if only I were meant to enjoy it while my partner endured torture—then sure, that would be possible. But if the goal is mutual pleasure—the ideal way to relieve stress—then I'm completely out of luck.
Unless, of course, my partner happens to be a female Tyrant.
Because size matters, and mine exceeds standard human measurements in every respect. As they say: bigger isn't always better. So for my partner, sexual intercourse would nothing short of torment. Like that joke about the elephants: one likes big ass, another likes large hips, and the third elephant prefers monkeys—because they pop so amusingly!
If I ever find the bastard who designed me, I'll destroy him!
My only hope lies in T-Veronica, capable of altering my appearance—or perhaps Wesker's blood, which left him outwardly human.
God, what an ordeal it was—nearly a full day pretending to be a grateful listener and a caring therapist for mental illnesses. But in the long run it was worth it. The girl unloaded her emotional baggage, and her personal loyalty to me should have increased after that.
Questions of hierarchy can wait for now. Frankly, it's unclear what kind of organization we're even forming and whether we need a militarized structure at all. At least for the moment, I don't see the need. No, outside the base we'll certainly maintain caution and secrecy, but at home we can afford to relax.
Those were the thoughts wandering through my head as I polished my Eagles.
Heh. A fool's dream come true.
For an ordinary person, carrying weapons like these—each weighing over one and a half kilograms without ammunition—is somewhat excessive. Vector carried at most one such monster, and certainly not the Long variant. For a normal human, those beasts are also awkward to handle, even though their stopping power exceeds that of standard pistols. After all, you could easily use them for medium and large game, which is exactly what they were made for. In my case, against B.O.W.s they're simply indispensable.
It's far more practical for most people to carry something else. Me, I don't care about recoil, and weight isn't an issue—I could haul around a Gatling gun without much trouble.
Vector himself only dreamed of using two of these beauties in combat, usually preferring the Bersa Thunder 9 with its seventeen-round magazine, or the Steyr M-A1, 9mm, the variant with a safety and an under-barrel laser sight. Functionally, he especially favored the latter, even though its magazine capacity was slightly lower than the Bersa's.
Why?
Simple. The Steyr M-series pistols, in my opinion—an opinion inherited from Vector—have some of the best ergonomics in their class. The grip is exceptionally well designed, with an ideal 111-degree angle. Combined with the low bore axis, it allows excellent recoil control during rapid fire. The unconventional sights and safety require a bit of adjustment, but once you get used to them, they become indispensable, providing outstanding shooting accuracy. And safety of handling too, though that matters more for beginners.
So yes, depending on the caliber, my Eagles only hold seven to nine rounds per magazine. But they can mount an optical sight, recoil and weight mean nothing to me, and their firepower surpasses that of "standard toys."
And against the corporation's monsters—when you need accurate shots and power beyond ordinary pistols—they're excellent. Low capacity? Doesn't matter. Against the same Hunters, you'd spend the entire magazine of a Steyr M-A1 just to drop one, and that's assuming you know exactly where to shoot. Meanwhile, my Eagles dropped three creatures without even reloading, the magazines sufficed precisely.
But I digress.
After finishing the pistols and bringing them back to working condition, I checked the rest of my gear and headed toward the helicopter.
Yes, a week and a half had already passed, and canon had finally made itself known—the long-awaited T-Veronica storyline. Claire ended up imprisoned. Admittedly, earlier than expected, but here the canon may shift—and I do recall that Wesker's incursion on Rockfort Island takes place in mid-December. As for the exact moment Miss Redfield was captured, I couldn't remember, so it seems there's no real inconsistency.
This time we're all going on the mission.
The girls need combat experience. Yamata can protect them and teach them the necessary skills, and if something goes wrong, I'll provide backup. But in general, I'll be acting separately, watching from a distance. I have my own tasks there—directly tied to freeing Claire and gathering information about Alexia and her location. I'd rather not take a blow to the head from her the way Wesker did during their first encounter, and without any information, that's exactly what would happen.
Ideally, I should even tail Albert himself (I'm a dead man, and that's great!) and, after letting him fight and lose, study the combat tactics of both opponents. That knowledge will be useful in the future.
Claire was captured on December seventh. It's now the evening of the sixteenth. By the time we arrive, another day will have passed, and Wesker should appear at her place of confinement any day now.
We decided to depart early. It will also give us time to train the recruits in stealth infiltration and patience. …Damn it—not recruits. Yoko and Cindy.
Girls, as mentioned earlier, are coming with us solely to gain combat experience, so unlike me, they don't need to stay on the island until the very end. Once an opportunity presents itself, they and Yamata will leave the island. I, however, will stay. That was agreed upon beforehand, and unless something unexpected happens, that's how it will be.
The only question is how I'll leave the island.
Will I carry Claire on my back, earning a reputation as a terrifying but kind-hearted monster? Or will I lurk in the background like a rag in Wesker's shadow, trying not to get noticed—because fighting him right now would be extremely disadvantageous for me… if not outright fatal.
