When Steel returned. He didn't really have to explain much to the humans. They were apparently informed that a government soldier went to search for the disturbance away form his designated post on the instruction of someone else.
That someone is probably just Shining Reach. It would make sense as she was the last one who talked with him.
It also didn't seem like she disclosed the name of War to the humans. Why was she hiding it? Or did she knew him in some way? Steel had no idea what are the connection behind these two humans.
For the devil spawns, she made up a story of devil spawns killing each other. The government soldier had watched it happen and so she come to know of the result as well. That government soldier is Steel if there was some confusion around that part. And surprisingly enough nobody doubted it.
Steel is sure that the deaths of those devil spawns were informed to her by War. It would make sense. He has no evidence to prove that but he does believe that she can't watch through somebody's eyes like River.
Otherwise, how would you explain growing a separate golden eye on other part of the body? It is also important to note that it was pretty obvious when that eye appeared on Steel's body. He would know if a creepy eye were to be on his body. So she shouldn't have been able to know it from him.
Or not. He is just guessing. He is just clueless on these Soul abilities.
These occurrences were also kind of scary to him. Everyone just trusted a single human without asking any question.
She must be trusted by a lot of people or something, He doesn't know how to build trust or connections with humans. So he can't even guess how long and what kind of methods were used to achieve that.
Having someone like that on your side would surely be pretty advantageous. Another reason to be jealous of that crazy human. His luck is so much better than Steel. It is irritating.
He doesn't have to be worried about that right now. At the end of the day, he, at the very least, get to go home and sleep in peace.
He also get special quarters to sleep in during these jobs. But there are other humans around who he has to share those sleeping quarters. It is just uncomfortable to sleep with a bunch of humans around.
Perfected humans also doesn't really need much sleep. So all night, he has to hear meaningless conversations between humans.
These creatures really have no respect for other's existence. Like can't they just be a little conscious about a tired demon who want to sleep a little bit? By the way, that tired demon is Steel. Do you see any demon other than him?
He can complain about these all day and still have more to say. So he is gonna end this rant with saying that his home is much more better and comfortable than these living quarters.
A home that he has for all himself. Actually, it is an apartment but both are basically the same thing. Nothing much difference there.
However these days, he has to share it with another demon. But she doesn't need food, talks, goes to toilet and overall is a better companion than those obnoxious humans.
Speaking of that demon of cataclysm, River.
These days, she only talks with him when he asks her. It isn't like she ever been a very talk active demon. But she used to point out dumb things like a curious child that doesn't know what is what.
Must be cause of humans. She is probably scared of these wretched creatures in Steel's sight. They are such an eyesore.
It isn't probably that. But he likes to think that she has somewhat of a social anxiety. That would be an interesting and relatable character trait for readers to relate with.
'Wait, what was I talking about?'
Steel's train of thoughts really goes out of control sometimes. He need to focus on the main subject and that is River.
She has found a little hobby of her own. So she usually do that while being locked inside of his tiny cupboard. Also the cupboard isn't that cramped for a little girl of her size. Not like she feels much of claustrophobia. So it doesn't really matter.
The problem is her new hobby that she has talked about.
'it could be a trouble…'
Steel's plan is to keep her locked in that closed space. So he doesn't have to worry about some human finding out about her. Who knows what will happen if someone were to find out about her existence. It would be a total chaos.
So he really want her away form them. He can also bury her. But he doesn't have to do it right now. So why bother? Maybe later.
He just want to find a way to travel to East world in peace. But new problems are keep on rising and old aren't being solved.
Well, that is enough suspense for her new hobby. It isn't anything special. Just concerning.
She can move her limbs to some degree. He isn't sure how much she is able to move her limbs. As he is away form home.
According to River, She's only been able to move her fingers cause there isn't much space there. Limbs doesn't have much moveability cause of some type of restrictions.

Is that her way of saying that he isn't taking care of her guest? Surely not. He is such a nice host. He must have understood her words wrong. It does sound that she is in some distress. But a demon like her being in destress? No way.
He would deal with that when he gets home.
There is also that soul weapon he acquired form War. He hopes that it has good enchantments to boost is strength to a significant degree.
He can't really see those stats without a device that see inside creature's soul. it looks like a tablet of sorts.
Its name is Soul tablet. Very clever naming scheme. So creative. He even have one at home. It was pretty expensive though.
He is excited to finally have a Soul weapon for himself. Even though he didn't earn it by hunting a Devil spawn. So he isn't like proud of it.
It is like that crazy human felt pity for him or something. But if through being a helpless creature just gets you free things from others than he doesn't really mind being a pitiful demon.
He would never let some meaningless pride get in his way. But if it does get in his way then… he would worry about it later.
