The soldier who called him was a man in his twenties. He was older than War and wore light armor.
According to the soldier, War was being called to have a little chat with his old man, Ghost Soulheart. So he was casually being called to have a talk with the king of this human community.
But War knows about that man to some degree. That man has no time for his adopted son who in the eyes of the people is beloved and precious. It is all just lies to make him look so benevolent or something.
War doesn't really understand the political side of things. However, He just knows that he is just a tool. No, not just a tool. Just a spare body.
He was alone with the soldier. They are walking through a quiet corridor. The air is heavy and suffocating.
War's patience is being tested right now. So he asks the soldier. However, he doesn't refer to the soldier as a human.
"You can stop playing now. I know whenever you are around me…"
The soldier stops walking. He doesn't move immediately but after few seconds. He replies while turning around to face him. The voice was different from before, it is very familiar.
"Really? It was that obvious, surely not?"
The face is the same but now it is different. The man that existed before is dead or just slumbering in the body. Or does the man was never awake. War just feels nothing as he watches his old man.
That face consist of a smile as he addresses War. War's face is expressionless as he listens to the man.
"Oh come on, You can call me dad or father for once, can't you? I promise it won't hurt."
War replies with a emotionless voice.
"No thanks."
War wasn't interested in his silly games. He knows that there are many people that are possessed by him but it isn't as easy to see through it.
Either he is just deep inside their bodies waiting to take hold of the person. So essentially, nobody is free to use their bodies. He can take over them whenever he wants.
But there is another more terrifying possibility. What if, Ghost never give back the possessed body to their own owners. Instead, he live their lives to a perfect start to the end.
He doesn't wanna admit it. But he doesn't know what that man's ability much at all. Nobody knows about it much. Only thing that it knows about him is that it is related to possession. What other attributes does he have? How strong is his who soul? How many Goal have he completed?
All that info is never revealed to anyone. Ghost has never told that to anyone. Not even a single person. So that ability could be even more vile.
War continues with his reply.
"So where are you? Let go meet your original body?
If his man wants to have a talk then he may as well talk with him face to face. He also have to talk about that demonoid. Shiny is planning on killing that thing and she has plans that War isn't aware about.
"Hmm…Well, my original body isn't in Boneyard. It is far away. But you don't have worry about having a half-ass conversation. Every body is like my original body. I am always in the Boneyard."
War wanted to ask where his original body but he rather not. Even if he tells him, there is no chance that it would be true.
"Okay."
War stands still. Observing his old man like caution. He also have to be careful with his words. He usually never is careful with his words but now, he actually have to pay attention to what he say.
"Old man. So Miss Shiny have found a moving world near Boneyard. It isn't a threat to the people of the community. But is spreading fast. So she has proposed killing that thing. The itself is much more than the government can handle alone as it is a Demonoid. So I will be joining them. I was just gonna ask for you permission."
Ghost listens to him with a smile on that body's face. He doesn't seem surprised by the mentioning of a demonoid.
"Children grow so fast. But you haven't grown much. You have always been to attracted to danger and these devil spawns. It makes me so proud to know that you have the same desire to kill."
He pauses for a second and then continues.
"Sure you can go with Shining Reach. She would take care of you very well. She is very competent. But still, be careful. It is a demonoid and they're so rare. Wish I could fight it. That would've been so much nice."
War wasn't expecting any arguments. But it was just so easy. It only took asking the old man and done. Now he can officially take part in the fight with that demonoid.
While he thought that it is all over. Ghost asks something.
"So are you planning on killing me or not?"
War just stares at the man who is still smiling.
He knows that it is impossible but he wonders. How could he kill someone who can just possess something else. Would he have to destroy all of his vessels? Or is there a way to contain his soul?
Can he even be killed? Wouldn't it be easy for him to just possess his opponent and be done with it? But if that was the case then all fights would end instantly. There is a way to kill him but he doesn't know.
War's straight forward and brute force like killing method wouldn't work on a man like him. He doesn't even know how many vessels does this man even possess. What if there are vessel present in East world too? This power of this is just absurd.
He just replies as calmly as he can.
"Why would I ever? And even if I want to kill you. I don't know how to kill you."
His old man seem to find this own scenario very amusing.
"Really? Don't you read comics and play games? There are so many story lines where sons or daughters have to kill their father or mother for the good of the world or something. They plan like really really seriously. I had experted something interesting like that from my son. You should really read some of that. It is really interesting."
War never gets time to have hobbies like reading or playing video games. His only hobby is killing devil spawns.
Also how does an old man like him gets time to read comics and play games? Has he possessed bodies of little children too? What is up with this old man? If you want to be a sinister villain so act like one too.
"No. I don't get the time for that stuff."
The soldier's body just shrugs and says "that's a shame".
War wasn't sure if this man is being serious. He doesn't mind it though. Actually if this man wasn't like a threat to the whole of humanity itself then War can imagine himself getting along with him.
While he is thinking. His old man says.
"My son. You can also just ask me about it, you know. A way to kill me?"
War couldn't believe his ears. Can it really be this easy? He can just ask how to kill him? Perhaps he should try it.
So War asks. Hiding his bloodlust.
"So how do I kill you?"
The soldier replies jokingly.
"I was just kidding. Why make our final confrontation so easy? You really still are just a foolish child."
Now that War thinks about it. He is glad that his old man is evil. He would show no mercy killing every vessel of his.
"Well, I have to leave now. The acquaintances of this man are probably missing him. Do you know this man even have a child of his own? when are you getting a married? Want to spend your whole like all alone?"
So War was left all alone in the quiet corridor. The last comment of his old man really didn't bother. Instead, it felt ironic.
'He is virgin too. Why am I getting lecture from someone like that?'
Now War is free to take part in the fight with the Demonoid. He is excited for that fight in his future. Thought of fighting that thing lighten up his mood a little from his talk with that old man.
