Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Self-Training

A long time after Su Qingwan had left, Su Chen, now certain she wouldn't return for quite a while, finally began walking out of the slipper.

This walk took over an hour. It wasn't because Su Chen was particularly leisurely, but because the conditions inside the slipper were far too complex.

The inside of Su Qingwan's slipper was also fluffy. Those short fibers made of cotton threads that ordinary people would only find soft and comfortable offered Su Chen no comfort at all.

It was simply a vast jungle. Most crucially, the light inside the slipper was really poor. Navigating through the jungle made it hard to distinguish direction, and coupled with the bad lighting, one can imagine the difficulty of Su Chen's journey.

After spending over an hour, unsure how many times he had bumped into walls, Su Chen finally found the best method to discern direction: sticking close to the edge.

With a method, his efficiency increased significantly, and Su Chen soon reached the heel area of the slipper.

Upon arriving, Su Chen didn't linger. He didn't have a watch and had no idea how long he had been walking inside here. Getting out as soon as possible was undoubtedly the right move.

Towering before Su Chen was the slipper's upper, dozens of meters high. However, this upper was also covered in cotton short fibers, so climbing it wasn't particularly difficult.

Su Chen took only a few minutes to climb out from inside the slipper. Sitting on the upper, he even glanced with some interest back into Su Qingwan's slipper, after all, it was a place that had trapped him for a long time.

From this height, he could roughly make out the appearance inside Su Qingwan's slipper: a pink jungle leading into darkness, densely packed, with a giant footprint right in the center of this jungle.

Needless to say, this was imprinted by Su Qingwan's small foot.

Under normal circumstances, Su Chen probably wouldn't have thought much of it. But now, being so small, seeing this gigantic footprint sent a chill down his spine, and he shivered involuntarily. The destructive power was somewhat terrifying.

Su Chen felt somewhat fortunate that, although he had shrunk, he was small enough.

If he were larger, he might not have escaped unscathed this time. However, being larger also had its advantages; after all, if he hadn't become so minuscule, Su Qingwan would likely have discovered him more easily.

Such things that could damage one's dignity, a glance was enough.

Su Chen had no interest in staying here longer. He jumped directly down from the slipper upper. He initially thought he could land steadily, but his eyes closed involuntarily, resulting in him tumbling quite a distance.

With no one around to see, there was no question of losing face. Su Chen climbed up from the ground completely unruffled, not a trace of embarrassment on his face.

When you're in a state like this, what use is keeping up appearances?

Su Chen's jump from above wasn't recklessness; it was an experiment of his. Since last night, Su Chen had realized he didn't understand his current body.

If his body were still normal, or even just enhanced several times in physical attributes,

he would have long been turned to dust under Su Qingwan's handling yesterday. Colliding with the pillow at such high speed without any buffer-though the pillow is relatively soft for a normal person-was different for Su Chen. It was something woven from giant ropes; how soft could it really be?

Yet, when he crashed into it, aside from feeling a bit dizzy, he was completely fine.

And there was the matter of him inexplicably appearing between Su Qingwan's toes. This morning, when Su Qingwan subconsciously curled her toes, although it was a very ordinary action for her, one couldn't deny the force behind it.

If it were an insect, it would probably have been squeezed into paste, but what about Su Chen?

Aside from difficulty breathing, he was completely unharmed. Also, just earlier, when Su Chen fell from Su Qingwan's foot into the slipper, that was a height of several hundred meters. Even if there was an air cushion below, Su Chen would likely have suffered internal injuries, but what about Su Chen?

After falling down, he still had the presence of mind to observe his surroundings. All of this indicated one thing: Su Chen's body had undergone a mutation.

Anyone seeing a person as small as Su Chen would know he had mutated, but that's not what is being referred to here.

It's about Su Chen's physical resilience. Not only had Su Chen's strength, speed, and reaction ability increased compared to before, but now, with Su Qingwan's "help," he discovered his body's pressure resistance and impact tolerance had increased even more significantly than his strength and speed.

Su Chen really wanted to measure the current limits of his body's endurance.

But for the sake of his own life, Su Chen decisively tossed this idea into the shredder. However, some testing was still necessary, after all, he didn't know when he would return to normal.

Next, Su Chen began his journey of light experimentation. They say those who don't seek trouble won't find it, and the more you seek, the closer you are to death. So, experimenting lightly probably wouldn't kill him, right?

Next to the entranceway was a shoe cabinet, which, for Su Chen, was the perfect testing ground. He walked to one corner of the shoe cabinet.

Standing beneath it, Su Chen felt a bit apprehensive. After all, anyone thinking about falling from such a height would feel uneasy.

But to better adapt to his current life going forward, this process was necessary.

After all, being so small, he could easily be carried away by something or someone. What would he do then?

What if he needed to get on a table or a chair?

So, overcoming the fear of heights was essential.

Su Chen didn't actually have acrophobia; he was just like most people, feeling scared when standing high up, since everyone knows falling from great heights can be fatal.

However, this psychology isn't hard to overcome if you can be sure you won't die.

Being small also had its advantages. Like this cabinet, which normally appeared perfectly smooth, now seemed full of uneven areas to Su Chen.

Climbing it wasn't particularly difficult, especially since his body was different now, allowing him to see things more clearly. But then, where would a normal person ever need to climb a shoe cabinet?

Next came Su Chen's base jumping moment. Climb up, jump down. Climb up, jump down. He gradually increased the height. Finally, Su Chen stood directly on top of the shoe cabinet and jumped down.

Their shoe cabinet was about 80 centimeters tall. When Su Chen jumped from the top, he felt no trepidation because throughout the entire process, he didn't feel any change in his body, just like jumping onto normal ground.

This highlights a misconception Su Chen had. After Su Chen shrank, the relative height of objects increased a thousandfold for him. This shoe cabinet alone was 800 meters high for Su Chen.

But jumping down from this 800-meter height was vastly different from jumping from 800 meters in the normal world.

The reason lies in gravity. Although Su Chen shrank, the Earth's gravity remained unchanged. This means the speed at which Su Chen hits the ground after jumping from a one-meter height is practically no different from before.

However, Su Chen wasn't just playing at jumping. To test his body's impact tolerance, he used various methods to jump, essentially having every part of his body impact the ground directly.

The conclusion was that his body had indeed significantly improved.

After all that falling, he was completely fine. There was just one thing that bothered Su Chen: although his body's impact resistance was very strong, his body seemed to have softened. He didn't know if this was good or bad.
