Chapter 006: Planting Seedlings with Uvogin and Machi

Though he was thinking this, his hands didn't slow down in the slightest.

After laying out such a large, fertile field, Kaizen glanced at Uvogin and the others, who were still standing there dazed:

"What are you still standing there for?! Hurry up and plant the seedlings!!"

Uvogin: "???"

Before he could react, Kaizen had already walked over to him, opened the Seedlings in a Capsule in his hand, and divided the seedlings into three portions.

He handed two portions to Uvogin and Machi.

"Like this, insert the seedlings into the ground."

Kaizen took the lead and demonstrated, rolling up his pants, stepping into the muddy rice paddy field, and planting the seedlings.

Uvogin: "..."

So we're really planting seedlings right here, right now?!

Can such things still be done in Meteor City?!

This completely contradicted Uvogin's survival principles in Meteor City and was the first time his mindset had been challenged.

As a result, he stared at the tiny seedling in his hand—small enough to be grasped in one palm—utterly unsure what to do with it.

"If you don't know how, just follow her lead..."

Kaizen immediately noticed Uvogin's awkward hesitation and pointed at Machi beside him.

Machi?

Uvogin instinctively turned to look at his inseparable partner.

He saw Machi's slender figure already standing in the rice paddy.

Though her movements were clumsy and unpracticed, she was diligently mimicking Kaizen's posture as she planted the seedling in her hand.

Witnessing this, Uvogin fell silent for a moment before gritting his teeth.

It's just planting seedlings, isn't it?!

If that foolish kid and Machi could do it, why couldn't Lord Uvogin?!

Without further hesitation, he strode directly into the rice paddy.

"You're too bulky—go plant over there."

"Make sure to plant them straight! Don't let them tilt everywhere!!"

"Leave enough space between seedlings, or they won't have room to grow later!!"

Under Kaizen's scolding, Uvogin was sweating profusely while transplanting seedlings.

Under normal circumstances outside, if Kaizen dared to speak to him in such a tone and with such words,

Uvogin would absolutely guarantee to twist his head off and stuff it under his butt.

But in this marvelous rice field, he could only obediently listen to Kaizen's instructions and arrangements.

Thus, through the rough and frantic efforts of the trio, the entire rice field was filled with... relatively neat seedlings.

"That should be simply done for now."

Kaizen wiped the sweat from his face and turned to the two behind him, who were also covered in mud splatters, looking as if they had crawled out of a mud pit:

"In about two hours, we can harvest."

Two hours...

Even the mud splattered on her face forgotten, Machi looked up at the artificial mini-sun and dark clouds overhead.

Combined with the rice fields and seedlings on the ground, and that strange mochi-making machine...

None of this seemed like methods a normal person should possess.

Beside her, Uvogin, whose back was nearly broken from transplanting seedlings, stared intently at the field of seedlings.

Although this kind of physical labor was nothing to Lord Uvogin, it was his first time doing it, and under such bizarre circumstances, he couldn't help but stay tense.

But seeing the field full of seedlings and knowing that results would be visible in just two hours, the thought that these were transplanted by his own hands made Uvogin's mouth unconsciously curl into a grin.

For some reason, he felt exceptionally clear-headed and happy.

Unaware that this was called a sense of accomplishment, Uvogin and Machi both watched the mini-sun and dark clouds in the sky eagerly.

Fortunately, the subsequent developments did not disappoint them.

Originally, when Doraemon and Nobita finished transplanting seedlings, the season-control machine malfunctioned.

This caused the dark clouds to produce little rain, while the artificial mini-sun's heat surged, drying the entire field until it nearly cracked.

While complaining that cheap products are no good, Doraemon ran downstairs and got a bucket, only then resolving the field's drought crisis.

However, after splashing too much water, the dark clouds produced excessive rainfall, making the rice prone to rot.

They then had to place a teru teru bōzu in the middle of the field, making it quite troublesome.

Now, this set of field equipment invented by Kaizen had none of these issues.

Normal sunlight exposure and regular, appropriate rainfall from the dark clouds allowed the rice seedlings in the field to grow well.

After alternating like this for over an hour, "They've grown taller?!"

Uvogin and Machi watched as the rice grew at a visible rate, rapidly developing.

Soon, the green seedlings began to form ears of grain, gradually maturing toward a yellowish stage.

Originally, before the rice fully matured, there were some locust eggs mixed in, requiring someone to catch locusts.

But again, thanks to Kaizen's invention, even the locust eggs inside were eliminated.

Hmm, if that swarm of locusts really did appear, for Uvogin and the others...

They probably wouldn't need to eat mochi and could just go straight for roasted locusts instead.

Just like that, two hours passed in the blink of an eye.

The golden, buttery wheat field came into view before the three of them.

The plump wheat ears hung heavily on the stalks, almost bending them under their weight!!
