The impact caused magical energy to explode in the air, creating shock waves that shook the windows and doors of nearby buildings.
Alrain gave no quarter. He attacked Allen blindly, venting the rage that had been buried across death itself. His body was wrapped in an aura of wind and lightning magic, making him move as fast as lightning.
"Die! Die!" screamed Alrain hysterically.
Swing after swing of the wind and lightning elemental sword was aimed with deadly precision. A horizontal slash targeting the neck, a quick thrust aiming for the heart, and a vertical slash ready to split the body in two.
Allen, whose position was compromised, could only keep dodging and blocking the attacks using his light sword. He was cornered. But he refused to hurt the figure who meant so much to his husband.
Clang! Clang!
"Fight me, Allen!" shouted Alrain, provoking him.
Thwack!
A hard kick coated in wind magic hit Allen's stomach squarely.
"Ugh!"
Allen coughed, his body thrown back several steps, his shoes screeching against the cobblestones as he tried to regain his balance. A stinging pain spread through his stomach, but he immediately resumed a defensive stance.
Alrain stared at him with ragged breathing. His green eyes now blazed with hatred.
"Why?!" screamed Alrain, his voice hoarse from holding back tears. "Why won't you fight me seriously? Face me, Bastard! You killed my master! You were also the one who destroyed everything! Why are you now just staying silent and defending like a coward?!"
On the other side, Arvin, who witnessed the fight, was frozen in place. His heart pounded fast after learning the shocking truth.
Now Arvin understood completely.
That gaze, that scream, and that hatred... Right now, Alrain must have remembered what he experienced in the original game storyline. thought Arvin in shock. He remembers that Allen was the one who killed me, the villain in this world.
A big question haunted Arvin's mind. But why? Why can he remember the storyline inside the game? Isn't this the real world now? What is actually happening to this world?
Allen wiped a bit of blood from the corner of his lips. He looked at Alrain with a gaze of pity.
"What is the point of fighting you, Alrain?" asked Allen gently. "I have no intention to hur—"
"SHUT UP!"
Alrain didn't let Allen finish his sentence.
Whoosh!
Alrain's body vanished from plain sight, propelled by an explosion of wind elements.
Clang!
Their swords clashed again violently. Sparks of fire and lightning scattered in the area around them.
An attack from the left, Allen parried it.
An attack from above, Allen tilted his head. The wind sword cloaked in lightning magic only grazed a few strands of his hair.
Alrain spun behind Allen with unreasonable speed and attacked from a blind spot.
Clang!
Allen once again blocked the heavy attack.
Ceaselessly, Alrain continued to attack him barrage after barrage. He was like a raging storm, giving not a single gap for Allen to breathe.
Thwack!
Once again, Alrain's foot landed squarely on Allen's stomach, making him double over in pain.
Alrain stood tall, pointing the blade of his magic sword, crackling with lightning flashes, at Allen's face.
"I refuse!" growled Alrain, tears starting to stream down his cheeks. "I refuse to let you be by his side! You don't deserve to walk beside Lord Arvin after what you did! Unleash all your abilities, Killer! Let's end this!"
Allen straightened his body slowly. He took a deep breath, then looked at Alrain with a firm gaze. He put away his light sword, letting it fade into particles of light.
"Sorry, I refuse to fight you." said Allen calmly. "Because right now... I am his wife!"
Alrain's eyes widened. His mouth opened slightly, as if he didn't believe his own hearing.
"Huh? What did you say?" exclaimed Alrain, disbelief coloring his voice. "You are his wife? Don't joke around! Impossible, Fool! You hated Lord Arvin so much, how could you be willing to make him your husband!"
"Here is the proof!" answered Allen loudly while raising both his hands high in front of Alrain.
Time seemed to stop for a moment.
Alrain was stunned. His eyes were fixed on two shining things on Allen's hands. A beautifully sparkling gold ring fitted on the ring finger of Allen's left hand, and a white contract symbol carved on the back of his right hand. And that symbol was the same symbol carved on the back of Arvin's hand.
That was absolute proof that could not be faked by any magic.
Alrain's body trembled violently. His memories of Arvin's death at Allen's hands collided with the reality before his eyes. Confusion, anger, and heartbreak mixed into one volatile explosion of emotions.
"Lies..." hissed Alrain. "That must be fake..."
Then unexpectedly, the atmosphere around them changed drastically.
The wind spun faster, creating a small tornado that blew up dust and pebbles. Lightning flashed more frequently, turning the bright sky pitch black instantly.
Alrain's eyes left no sanity. He felt betrayed by fate.
"I will kill you, Allen! YOU LIAR! DIE!" he screamed maniacally.
Arvin, who had been observing all along, sensed that the situation had become extremely dangerous. He saw that Alrain was mobilizing his full power.
This is bad! thought Arvin in panic. That is his ultimate move! If that hits Allen, he will die! Although he wants to block it, Allen isn't strong enough to fight against Alrain's power, which is almost the same as his adult version.
Zoom!
In the blink of an eye, a sonic boom was heard. Alrain shot forward.
His body moved so fast it left almost no afterimage. In a split second, Alrain was right in front of Allen's face. The wind sword cloaked in lightning shone blindly, ready to sever Allen's head.
Allen was shocked to death. His eyes couldn't follow that speed. He only saw a blinding white light approaching his neck.
So fast! thought Allen resignedly. I can't detect his movements! Is this my end?
The swing of the deadly magic sword was aimed directly at Allen's neck, who didn't have time to react or dodge. Death was right before his eyes.
Tap!
An unusual sound was heard amidst the roar of lightning. Not the sound of flesh being cut, but the sound of a hand catching something firmly.
The world seemed to stop spinning.
Arvin held Alrain's fast-moving hands, which were still holding the magic sword in his right hand.
Arvin's hand gripped Alrain's wrist tightly, stopping the sword's momentum just a few centimeters from Allen's neck, which was already covered in cold sweat.
Silence...
The strong wind slowly subsided and the lightning also stopped striking.
Not only were Allen and Alrain shocked witnessing the event. Everyone watching from afar was also made very shocked, their eyes widening in disbelief.
They saw Arvin now standing firmly in their midst, his face calm yet full of authority. He had just stopped Alrain's strongest and fastest attack, which wasn't even visible, using only his bare hands.
