Chapter 18 - The Land Is Secured, and the Plan Takes Shape

The very next day, Chen Xi'er personally delivered all the land deeds Su Yu needed. The moment she appeared at the orphanage, she instantly attracted the attention of every child there. A group of little ones gathered around, whispering excitedly as they stared at the gentle-looking young woman. Who was she? Was she Brother Su Yu's girlfriend? Curiosity sparkled in their eyes as they openly sized her up without any restraint. Faced with so many eager gazes, Chen Xi'er felt a little shy at first, but she quickly adjusted, smiling and greeting the children naturally.

Su Yu came out soon after. Seeing him, Chen Xi'er immediately stepped forward and handed over the documents she had brought. She explained clearly that once Su Yu signed them, the land-use rights would be officially transferred to him, with fifty years remaining on the lease. If he wanted to continue using the land after that, renewal fees would apply. Su Yu nodded in understanding, thanked her, and began signing without hesitation.

While he was signing, Chen Xi'er brought up the progress on the energy cubes. Production had already started, and the new formulas would likely hit the market within a week. According to her, the recipes Su Yu provided were extremely easy to manufacture, perfectly compatible with their existing production lines, and even allowed them to supply raw materials internally. Costs had dropped dramatically, and her grandfather had specifically asked her to pass along his sincere thanks. She then asked if Su Yu needed help with anything else, making it clear that as long as he spoke up, she was willing to assist.

She wasn't exaggerating. These new energy cube formulas could almost completely replace several of their company's existing intermediate products. Not only were they cheaper to make, but the results were just as good—if not better. In a market where most brands sold similar products at similar prices, Trainers naturally leaned toward well-known names. But if a mid-level energy cube could be sold at only slightly more than the price of a low-level one, while offering far better effects, it would absolutely dominate sales. For most Trainers, spending a little extra money for a big upgrade was a no-brainer. With these formulas, Morning Sun Energy Cubes was practically guaranteed a massive boost this year, possibly even pushing competing companies into decline.

After finishing the signatures, Su Yu looked up at Chen Xi'er, blinking slightly as her words settled in. Someone proactively offering help like this? He wasn't about to be polite. Smiling, he said that he really did have something he needed help with. Now that he had the land, he planned to renovate the area behind the orphanage—build fencing, plant fruit trees, and prepare the site. Since her family dealt with energy cubes, she should be familiar with orchards and raw material sources. Didn't they have their own plantations as well?

Chen Xi'er paused briefly, then nodded without hesitation. It was a small matter, nothing more than making a few calls. Encouraged by her easy agreement, Su Yu went on to explain his broader plan: fencing off the land, building an orchard, and opening a breeding house at the same time. He asked if she could help coordinate everything. Chen Xi'er blinked, feeling slightly overwhelmed by how naturally he delegated things—but after a moment's thought, she agreed again. She even suggested having professionals draft a proper construction plan if Su Yu could provide a simple design sketch.

That suggestion fit Su Yu's thoughts perfectly. He already had a rough layout prepared. Telling her to wait a moment, he turned and headed back to his room, asking Xiaoqing to take Chen Xi'er inside and keep her company. As soon as Su Yu left, the girls swarmed Chen Xi'er enthusiastically, leading her indoors and eagerly asking if she could release her Pokémon. They even mentioned that they had energy cubes ready, their shining eyes betraying their true goal—seeing rare Pokémon up close.

Chen Xi'er saw through them immediately, but she didn't mind at all. With a smile, she agreed and took out several Poké Balls. One by one, she released them. First came Garchomp, a massive, shark-like Pokémon with sickle-shaped arms and a fearsome presence—the legendary quasi-legendary that made the children gasp in awe. Next was Absol, a rare white-furred Pokémon often associated with sensing disasters, its calm yet mysterious aura drawing whispers of amazement. And of course, there was Ralts, already familiar to them, quietly standing nearby.

In an instant, the orphanage was filled with excitement. While Su Yu was inside preparing his plans, the seeds of something much bigger were already being planted outside.
