Chapter 33 - The Price of a Dragon’s Power

Chen Xier quickly took out her phone, looking at Su Yu with clear anticipation in her eyes. "Su Yu Senior, just tell me everything you need. I'll have people collect it immediately and send it over as fast as possible."

Su Yu nodded. Since she had already said that much, there was no point beating around the bush. He calmly began listing the materials, his tone steady and precise, as if he were reciting something he had refined countless times in his mind.

"First, I need nectar from Comfey—the same nectar it uses to attract and soothe other Pokémon. It has special calming and harmonizing properties. For Garchomp's monthly intake, I'll need about ten kilograms. Next are the fruits that grow around Tropius' neck. They must be freshly harvested—no more than twenty-four hours after being picked. Any longer than that and their active nutrients dissipate completely."

He paused briefly, then continued, "I also need Soft Sand, around thirty kilograms. That shouldn't be a problem for you."

Chen Xier nodded immediately. "That's easy. No issue at all. Anything else?"

"There's more," Su Yu said, continuing without hesitation. "I'll need Sitrus Berries, Enigma Berries, Persim Berries, Hondew Berries, and Haban Berries. I don't have enough stock here yet. I also need Golden Nanab Berries and Golden Pinap Berries—those are rare on the open market, so you'll have to help me source them."

He then looked at her seriously, his tone turning noticeably heavier. "Finally… I need Dragon Skull."

The moment those words left his mouth, Chen Xier's expression stiffened.

Dragon Skull wasn't just rare—it was borderline legendary. It referred to the remains left behind after a Dragon-type Pokémon's death, bones saturated with dense, refined dragon energy. Su Yu needed to extract and purify that energy through a special process before integrating it into the energy cube. Without it, a true top-tier Dragon-type energy cube simply couldn't exist.

Dragon-type Pokémon were already rare. Finding their remains was like winning the lottery. Even if someone stumbled upon such a thing in the wild, it would instantly attract countless hunters willing to pay astronomical prices. As for places like Dragon Dens or ancient Dragon burial grounds—anyone reckless enough to steal from those locations would be hunted relentlessly. Survival wasn't guaranteed.

There were some collectors on the black market, but supplies were scarce and fiercely contested. Whether Chen Xier could obtain it was the key variable.

When she heard this, Chen Xier frowned deeply. "Dragon Skull… that's troublesome."

After a brief moment of thought, she calmly took out her phone again. "I'll ask my grandfather. He should have some."

Su Yu fell silent.

For a moment, he could only think one thing: It really is nice to be rich.

Suppressing his thoughts, he nodded. "That's everything I need. If you can get those materials, I can start making Garchomp's exclusive energy cubes immediately. If not, then we'll have to wait."

Chen Xier nodded decisively. "Give me two minutes."

She stepped aside and made the call. Su Yu waited quietly, watching her pace slightly as she spoke. Before long, a smile appeared on her face.

She hung up and hurried back. "Su Yu Senior, my grandfather has Dragon Skull. He'll have it sent over shortly."

Su Yu nodded almost mechanically. "That's enough. Just ask him to grind it into powder before sending it. Otherwise, processing it here would be troublesome."

Chen Xier didn't hesitate. She immediately sent another message, adding Su Yu's request. While she was at it, she attached the full list of materials and even added extra berries available at home. If Su Yu could use them later, all the better.

Once everything was arranged, she looked at him expectantly. "Alright, Su Yu Senior. Let's talk price. How much for a month's supply for Garchomp?"

Su Yu rolled his eyes slightly. "Most of the materials are coming from you. How much do you think I can reasonably charge? At best, I'm just collecting a processing fee."

He muttered under his breath, feeling faintly wronged. It really did feel like a loss.

Chen Xier laughed. "It's not that bad. The berries aren't worth much—we grow them ourselves. The real value lies in the Soft Sand and Dragon Skull. As for Comfey nectar and Tropius fruit, we've specially bred Pokémon for that. The cost isn't high."

"You can calculate it normally."

After thinking for a moment, Su Yu nodded. "Fine, then I won't hold back. A month's supply of exclusive energy cubes for Garchomp will be six million. The Dragon Skull itself—assuming it's a large piece—I'll count three million."

"If everything goes smoothly, the remaining Dragon Skull material can be reused for future batches. I'll only take what's needed for one month and return the rest to you."

In truth, even that price wasn't exaggerated. Raising high-level Pokémon was an absurdly expensive endeavor. Feeding a full team of six with top-tier resources could easily cost tens of millions a month, hundreds of millions a year. Without Alliance backing, even Elite Trainers would struggle to sustain that.

Only by personally crafting top-level energy cubes did Su Yu truly understand just how terrifying the cost was. Materials alone could reach several million—and that was assuming you could even obtain them.

If Chen Xier hadn't been here to solve the sourcing problem, Su Yu wouldn't have touched this job at all.

It was simply too expensive.
