Whenever we managed to pass each other at school, she always says hi while I sometimes smile at her or nodded.
I was a dumb person.
I don't know why back then I didn't talk to her.
Her hair grew longer, though she's still shorter than me, she grew a bit taller.
Time passed,
She became more beautiful and naturally, a lot of guys noticed her.
I had my first heartbreak when I heard she got her first boyfriend.
I became happy when they broke up.
Then became depressed again when she had her second boyfriend.
She continued to say hi to me at this time whenever our paths crossed though I still didn't talk to her longer than the usual greetings.
She became better academically but still didn't manage to top me though I preferred that she would.
....
Highschool time went by quickly.
We had our school camping trip.
I gave her the best camp spot by being the teacher's assistant.
We had our school field trip.
I managed to be the student body president this time in order to choose the places which I know she would enjoy.
At the last stop in our trip which was the planetarium, she approached me and thanked me. As usual, I simply shrugged and told her that everyone enjoys it.
Idiot, dumbass me.
She looked the happiest when she was looking at the stars. I noticed she was smiling when she looked at the picture of Polaris behind me.
Polaris was her favorite star.
....
School dance came and it was the school's tradition in which the guys will ask out the girls as their date. Based on the school's history, many ended up as couples and in some successful cases, ended up getting married.
It was huge pressure on guys as no matter how much effort we do, a lot ended up getting rejected. Of course, as I was the student body president, I ended up having more stress compared to them.
I wanted to ask her out. I really do. I tried to approach her one day but backed out at the last minute. I heard from one of the guys that she rejected whoever approached her and that everyone was thinking that she might not go after all when at the last minute, she went out with her gay friend.
She looked beautiful at that night.
Asta.
Of course, with a simple suggestion from me, the teachers awarded her as the queen of the dance. Too bad I wasn't the king since I was one of the dance committee members.
She ended up getting paired with a guy whose hair was curly who had a crush on her.
They were in a relationship several days later.
....
Graduation ended up fast but I managed to hear where she planned to go to college.
She must have noticed me staring at her and smiled at me. My sister must have noticed back then because she hurriedly insisted that she take a photo of us.
I placed my arm around her and made a goofy smile while my hands are shaking.
After several photos were taken, her family called her and she apologized to me and bid farewell. She tried to say something but her sister kept calling her name and she left.
Asta.
