The girls who came up to Mike all had something going for them—some were straight-A students, some came from loaded families, and some were super confident about their looks and figures.
"Mike, I'm stuck on this one problem. Can I ask for your help?" That was the girl with glasses holding a test paper.
"Mike, my house is pretty huge. Wanna come see it sometime?" That was the blonde in designer clothes.
"Mike, um… my cat can do backflips…" That was the curvy, sweet-faced girl.
Mike handled them all perfectly—kept every single one smiling, never made anyone feel ignored, but never actually promised anything either.
Classic "three no's" strategy: no chasing, no rejecting, no taking responsibility.
They chatted and walked together until the group reached the school's main cafeteria.
The place was a total zoo—students everywhere eating, talking, yelling.
Lina—the best-looking and best-built of the girls—gave Mike the quick rundown: "Don't let the chaos fool you. Where people sit in here matters a ton…"
Cafeteria rules: different status = different table.
Right in the dead center sat three gorgeous, confident blondes who practically glowed. They were the undisputed queens of Medford High.
Regina George. Karen Smith. Gretchen Wieners.
These three set every trend in the school. The way they dressed, talked, and acted basically decided what was "in" that week.
With that kind of power, they also had major say over who was cool and who was a nobody.
A few casual comments from them could make or break someone's reputation overnight.
So yeah, these three were beautiful… but they came with thorns.
Lina deliberately steered clear of their table and pointed to a spot near the edge but still pretty good. "That's where we sit," she said, her voice carrying just a tiny bit of pride.
Having a decent table in the main cafeteria was proof that Lina and her friends were actually pretty popular.
…
Just as Lina's group was about to lead Mike to the food line,
Regina—who'd been chatting with her crew—happened to glance over and spotted the hot new guy.
For a split second her eyes widened in surprise. Then her face melted into a perfect, sweet smile.
She gave Mike a quick, flirty look, leaned over to Karen (the one who didn't look like she was winning any spelling bees), and whispered something.
Seconds later, "Big Waves" Karen stood up. Her chest bounced as she walked straight toward Mike.
The whole line parted for her like she was royalty.
Karen stopped in front of Mike, looked him up and down with a smile, then put on her best innocent, shy face and said, "I'm Karen, senior year. How come I've never seen you around school before?"
Karen Smith had an insane chest and the face of a literal baby doll. The combo was unfairly powerful.
Mike, being a physics nerd, mentally confirmed Newton's law of gravity on her for a moment before answering, "I'm Mike. New junior transfer student."
"Oh my gosh! So you're the Mike everyone was freaking out about this morning—the one all the girls were staring at!" Karen's eyes lit up with genuine awe.
After feeding Mike's ego just enough, she added, "Regina thinks you're really interesting. She wants you to come sit with us in a minute."
"Really?" Mike looked up. Sure enough, Regina and Gretchen were both smiling right at him from the center table.
Their charm was every bit as strong as Karen's.
No way he was turning down an invite like that. He looked back at Karen and said, "Tell your friends I'll be right over."
Karen flashed him a playful wink, turned, and sashayed back.
Mike watched her go—elegant and a little wicked at the same time—and couldn't help but smack his lips. Man, the food in this school must be really good.
Once Karen left, the girls from Mike's own class—who'd suddenly become invisible—finally let out a collective breath.
Then, like they were scared of getting anywhere near Regina's crew, they mumbled lame excuses, skipped lunch altogether, and hurried out of the cafeteria.
Mike had a feeling. He glanced back—yep, Regina in the center was wearing a smug little smile.
That was exactly the look a hunter gets when she spots rare prey in the jungle.
'So she's already treating me like her next trophy,' Mike thought, instantly reading the situation.
But he'd already dealt with a tough senior like Jennifer before. Three pretty seniors weren't going to rattle him.
He shot Regina a bright, confident smile, then strolled over to the food line like nothing happened.
Public school cafeterias get subsidies, so everything's super cheap.
Ever since Mike got the [Demon Body] upgrade, his appetite had gone through the roof. He needed serious fuel to keep up with his new strength.
One giant beef burger, a big plate of seafood fried rice, a meat-and-veggie combo, an apple, a carton of skim milk, plus half a fried chicken.
His tray was piled so high it looked like a small mountain.
…
Under a bunch of weird stares, Mike carried his loaded tray toward Regina's table.
But right as he got close to the center,
Regina, Karen, and Gretchen all stood up at the same time, trays in hand.
Their plates had barely anything on them—mostly leafy greens, diet shakes, that kind of stuff.
Regina flashed her signature dazzling smile… then walked right past Mike without even glancing at him, head high like a peacock.
Gretchen followed exactly the same way, pretending Mike didn't exist.
Only Karen paused for a second when she passed. Her doll face looked a little embarrassed. She whispered, "Regina told me to tell you… since you took so long getting food, the invite's already expired."
Too slow? Total excuse.
From the moment he got the invite to when he got his tray, barely any time had passed.
Regina probably just didn't like that Mike hadn't jumped at the chance fast enough, so she decided to embarrass him.
Most guys would've been pissed… or at least felt stupid and guilty.
But Mike had seen it coming. He stayed cool as ice, like he was watching a movie. He just smiled calmly and said, "Thanks for the heads-up, Karen."
Karen blinked, surprised he wasn't mad. Then she said in her cute voice, "You're… different from the other boys, Mike."
She quickly checked that Regina was out of earshot, then leaned in and whispered, "If you don't mind, you can come sit at my spot instead."
Regina had clearly just humiliated Mike on purpose. Karen going behind her back to offer this took real guts.
Before Mike could even answer, she gave him another quick wink, then hurried after Regina.
